The challenge of the week was to write a drabble based on the theme of betrayal
The Vow
When he was eleven, Daniel made a vow. After one more fall out with a foster home, he decided he wouldn’t ever hope again. He just stopped hoping for something different, something better.
It was easy. Life had taught him what to expect when you were naive enough to believe tomorrow would bring you joy. He never forgot, even with Shau’re-- he was right not to.
Daniel caressed the arm circling his waist, felt the warmth of the body spooned around him.
He’d never broken his vow, never betrayed himself… until Jack.
It was a betrayal he wouldn’t ever regret.
