Bis später, Wien!
Feb. 4th, 2020 11:22 amBack at work after a four-day weekend away - and an additional day off to recuperate from said weekend ;) I went to Vienna with Cookie, where we had the most amazing time! We even added a little get-away within our get-away as we paid a little visit to Slovakia. Bratislava is only an hour away from Vienna by train so we thought we'd use this opportunity to spend a couple of hours there and explore a new capital :) We were also super lucky to find a traditional Slovakian restaurant where we ate the tastiest of bryndzové halušky #Yummy
Icing on the cake from an already great trip, we managed to purchase two standing tickets and got to see a performance, namely Otello, at the Wiener Staatsoper, ie. Vienna's National Opera. It was as amazing an experience as you'd imagine :) Should you ever visit Vienna and fancy a night out, I'd highly recommend you try to get standing tickets, they're only 10€! There is one condition, though (which is a big one), you have to be able to stand for the duration of the performance (hence the "standing" tickets). In this case, it was a three-hour performance, which is par for the course for operas, I think. But if you are able, then go for it, it's such a bargain and a wonderful opportunity. (Then again, you can purchase normal seats, obviously! But they were definitely out of our price range).
As usual, I've shared some pictures of our trip on my IG account, if you fancy having a look
I have to say 2020 is shaping up to be another very good year as travels go. I just went to Austria with Cookie (we're already thinking about our next destination next year, so many choices!), in March I'll go to Greece (for work but my colleagues and I will be staying in Athens for the whole weekend so we can play tourists). Then in June I'll go back to Germany (for work again. Admittedly Kiel isn't the most charming place to stay in but it's still going abroad, right?) and then in July, I'll go to Latvia (Riga) with my sister for our Annual Sisterly trip. Pretty exciting plans :)
Ok, posting this now as I seem to have lost a bit of my former momentum as far as LJ posting goes and I need to go back into the swing of things. I'll talk about Prodigal Son another time ;)
