Ces pauvres penne lisce !!
Mar. 5th, 2020 02:45 pmAre talks about the Coronavirus part of your everyday background-noise these days? (Also er... sorry to add one more mention of it on your feed, now that I think of it. You can skip this entry entirely if you're really fed up with the subject, which I 100% understand, btw). Because it's Everywhere here. My co-workers and I have been talking about the subject much more these past few days because a) it comes to a point when you feel like you have to talk about it? Idk, b) we work at a university and people wonder whether we'll close down at one point (like they did in Italy, in some parts of Greece, Iran and some other parts of the world) and c) some of us are supposed to head to Athens, Greece next week for work-pleasure (work from Tuesday to Friday morning and pleasure from Friday afternoon to Sunday) and turns out we genuinely don't know whether we'll be able to go! Everything seems to be up in the air, at the moment, it's just odd. Also, d) for obvious reasons, I'm also following how the virus spreads in Italy.
Life is strange at the moment, is all. And what about people freaking out and "looting" some supermarkets? Finding pasta has turned into the quest for the Holy Grail in some of them. My sister wanted to do some (every day) groceries this morning and she sent us the picture of the pasta aisles, it was completely empty. I was talking with my godmother who lives in the suburbs of Rome and they (unsurprisingly) have the same issue (more so, even); the customers rush to the stores to stock up essentials and leave the pasta shelves completely bare...well, except for the penne lisce, which is now officially the pasta that No-One Likes? Awww, poor pasta!! This broke my heart. They now have intimate knowledge that even people going through collective paranoia will not buy them. How sad is that?
Anyway! Silver lining, should I be unable to leave the territory and have to stay in France next week, I'll be able to watch Prodigal Son with my parents as, as mentioned previously, it premieres next Tuesday here. If, like me, you're keen on knowing how your favourite characters sound in the different languages in which they are dubbed, here's the French version of the trailer (and as I said in my last entry, don't worry for us, we do have the option to choose between the original version and the French one, so we are not totally deprived). What else? Ah yes, ST:Picard keeps on making me happy, each episode goes by way too fast. Incidentally, Narek and Narissa have officially made it to my Favourite Twisted Siblings list. Oh, those two ♥
Back to RL now... I think I feel a bit better compared to when I wrote my last entry. I feel less off, more motivated in general, it has been a good week. Lent has begun, my German classes are getting a bit more interesting and, last week, I've had my first Italian class of the semester (on a whim I decided to enrol in this "Art and civilisation" class from the same school that has the German classes and where I took the previous Italian classes). So there's that. I have nice plans for the weekend, including an exhibit with Cookie tomorrow evening which, fingers crossed, hasn't been cancelled yet so let's hope they don't have to close between now and tomorrow!
Hope you're all doing good, flist. Take care :)
