castalie: (Season - Warm & Cozy)
Ok, remember when I mentioned in my last post how tv was doing its best to keep us entertained and to keep people's morale up? Get this (and I'm specifically thinking of you, [livejournal.com profile] turps33, here) some French channels have started airing Christmas movies again. This is not a drill. Someone, somewhere, decided that we needed some pick-me-up programs and someone else answered right away "What about Christmas movies again?!" Cheesy, sweet, feel-good, simple, predictable, reliable, Christmas stories. Because of Coronavirus and Confinement and Shit. I don't even know how to feel about this, guys. (I couldn't even watch today's film because work is still super busy! I mean...). But, yeah. Christmas movies. At the end of March.

Then again, I'm all for silly things to amuse us these days. Case in point Sunday afternoon. So Cookie and I are dreaming of visiting Highclere Castle (or, you know, Downton Abbey) and what we wanted to do on our next trip to the UK together was to plan a little outing there in order to spend some time in the premises, visit the castle and, if we manage to grab tickets because they seem to go fast, to have afternoon tea there (I mean, I know it's not inside the castle - or I don't think it is - but still). And since we don't know when this will be possible now, we thought, you know what? If we can't go to Highclere Castle, we'll have Highclere Castle come to us! So I made scones from scratch (my first time and they were pretty good, if I may say so) and then we treated ourselves to a little picnic in the park-but-actually-in-our-living-room. We had a blast! )

I know, I know. "This is what you do at Day 6? I'd rather not think about Day 45". Well. We won't know until we get there, won't we? (We'll actually know tomorrow if Confinement is extended - or, for how long it will turn out to be extended, because at this point we're all pretty sure it will be, so. #NoSpoilersThough)

PS: don't think we don't take the situation seriously, btw. We all do. It's just, we're living through a pretty anxiety inducing time and being confined at home with pretty stricts rules not to go outside makes life a bit surreal (I'm starting to really hate the sound of the police delivering orders to stay home as well as recommandations against the virus from a loudspeaker in the street every other day). One has to try and make things easier, that's all, you know?
