If you watch(ed) Friends, you might remember that scene when Monica opens the door of her flat and finds Rachel and Ross kissing in the hallway and goes "I'm sorry, apparently I opened the door to the past!" This was me the past couple of days lol
Writing my fic has brought me back, let me tell you! I think the moment that really made me go "wow, is this 2005 ?" is when I sent a mail to
starwatcher307 - who had been beta'ing my stories back in the day - to ask her if she had the time and the desire to beta something for me and when she said "yes", I was absolutely thrilled. If you ever had the chance of having her beta for you, you'll know. Or maybe it's because I'm a non-native English speaker... in any case, she always takes the time to explain why she changed a line, she always has the best suggestions and I just love our collaboration. I also thought it did bode well for the future of my lil' fic ;)
Speaking of, if you're wondering how it's going? It's going pretty well, guys, as I actually finished the fic last night \o/
The first draft is out my hands now (actually, L. already beta'ed a good chunk of it ♥) The writing process was incredibly smooth, it was a bit surreal. I'd go about my day then come back and write till pretty late in the night. I woke Saturday morning, wrote again. Came back from my little outing in Paris Sunday, kept going, it just never stopped! And oh, the joy of writing again. I swear I'd forgotten the excitement that goes with writing a story. The whole process, really, the writing but also the research, the anticipation, the talking about it with friends (GD and Babycakes were cheerleading pretty hard, bless them) I had a blast. And now I feel weird because it's done lol (But I actually have another idea so who knows what will happen!)
Wordcount is at around 8400 words for now and, don't get me wrong, quality trumps quantity anytime but 0 words in eleven years vs 8400 in four days, is all I'm saying. That's crazy!
Aaaanyway. Now to catch up with everything I miss while I was busy adding words to a blank page ;)
Have a good week, flist.
