Monday Rambling.
Jun. 19th, 2006 02:01 pmI met my nephew! And, dude, I don't think I'll ever get tired of saying that word :-)
Since Sandrine moved last month, visiting her has become quite an adventure. There was a time when I just needed to cross the street to go to her place, then I had to take the bus, and now I need to take the RER + another train. But it's still doable. It's just that when I go and see her now, I usually leave in the morning and come back late afternoon or in the evening. I'm not complaining either, that's just how it is now - and, like I said, it's still doable, but the hospital where she's staying? Is just not accessible if you don't drive there. Seriously. It is the country; fields and hills and forests all around. Uber pretty but oh so not practical for one who doesn't have a car. Thankfully, One Who Doesn't Have a Car happens to have Friends Who Have. So since I knew Laurence and Jérémie were going to go and see Sandrine, I called them to see if I could join them. Which I did.
We first paid a little visit to Sandrine's parents, then off to the hospital, led by her step-dad because did I say it's like in the middle of nowhere? And okay so I exaggerate but we were still glad to have someone to lead us there. Anyway, we arrived and we opened the door and there they were! Lucas sprawled in his mother's arm, his daddy sprawled on the bed. Dude, Sandrine looked incredible, not sleepy or tired in the slightest - though she hadn't really slept since Friday night - but poor Olivier was knackered. So he went home and we stayed with Sandrine and Lucas.
I was the first to carry him in my arms and god! Love at first sight, you know? And he's so tiny! Sure, he's not a wee baby compared to other babies who were born less than ten hours ago but, no matter what, he was still so tiny with tiny fingers and tiny toes and a tiny nose and ohhhh that skin! So smooth and just - hee insta!love, I'm telling you. It's been a long time since I held a baby in my arms and I don't even remember the last time I had a baby that... 'new'? lol I mean, he was around nine hours old. That's a bit of a miracle. And he was so quiet... he was 'looking' around him, trying to keep his eyes open as much as he could and, yeah, beautiful moment *happy sigh*
It truly is a pity they moved out already because it was so easy before, but, well, we'll do, I guess :-) We should go back on Sunday, already, and this time Lucas will be in his new home *loves*
Then it was back home to watch France v South Korea. There were six of us in front of the telly, half of us wearing French team shirts and we were ready to finally see our team win a match, you know? And it started so well too - Henry scored beautifully and we were finally believing in it and then The Others scored and we couldn't do it again. Though it's too bad video evidence doesn't work in football like it does in rugby or else our second goal would have been accepted but that's not how it works and I do accept it. Still, it sucks. Now we need to win our next match or it's bye-bye with us. Actually even if we do win, it might not be enough *cries* And Zizou won't even play. Though with due respect, maybe it'll turn out not to be such a bad thing.
Hmm, come to think of it, maybe I should have cut that for the uninterested as well, uh? lol Anyway, I'll stop channeling my inner World Cup fangirl now, promise ;-)
Today's program includes some Doctor Who viewing; I should catch up but I'm going to cheat and start with the newest episode as I want to see Marc Warren and am curious about what role he played in that episode.
I still haven't done my SPN marathon, can you believe that? I'm kinda going into withdrawal a little more each day but sometimes you just don't have the time. I still haven't watched a single episode of Boston Legal either, btw. Oh and speaking of French!tv, Criminal Minds premieres next week - I'm quite curious to see what voices they'll give them. Cold Case and L&O: CI - my favourite of the different series - come back too. I love summer tv, after all!
I think I should go now but one last thing. Back to SPN? There's a new archive in town, flist. The Brothers Winchester,
artifuss's baby is going live. Go on, check it out and upload your fics :-) Yes, I'll try to do that asap, too *nods*

Date: 2006-06-19 01:31 pm (UTC)damn, watching Switzerland - Togo right now, and for the moment, Switzerland's winning ... which means that IF we win against Togo on Friday, we'll still depend on the result of Switzerland - Korea. *huffs*
i'm not even that into football!! lol

I'm not even into football either, I hate football. And if they keep going, I'll hate the World Cup too lol
Hopefully Italy will wake up for good soon too...

Date: 2006-06-19 02:36 pm (UTC)On the WC front, sorry to hear France isn't doing so hot. Maybe Italy will do better?
And France summer TV sounds great, especially compared to the dreck we have here. Thank gods for downloads. Speaking of, my Entourage and The 4400 are all ready for me to watch, so...*g*

Date: 2006-06-19 08:15 pm (UTC)I'm curious to see what you thought of Dr Who. Opinion is split between fans from what I've seen. Personally I liked it, but suspect that's because Marc was lead character.

Date: 2006-06-20 03:37 pm (UTC)Awwwwwww! I'm glad that you were able to visit so quickly, I bet Sandrine was happy to see you ^_~! And tell her I love Lucas as a name, what a great choice; oh, and congratulations too, honestly, where are my manners ^^;?!

Date: 2006-06-21 12:32 pm (UTC)I'll let her know, no problem lol They were hesitating between two names, Axel and Lucas. I loved Lucas best since the beginning, though I found Axel quite amusing, considering my own name lol
