aka Pride in Paris - woohoo

OH boy, you wouldn't believe the day I had - it was such a blast!

Long story short : I met with [livejournal.com profile] greedy_dancer at noonish to go to Pride with her - we marched and danced and sang for around three hours and a half, crossed Paris from Denfert-Rochereau to place de la Bastille, then when the March was over, we literally collapsed at a café and once we were able to walk again, we finally ended at Saint-Michel where we settled in a little parc and chatted some more until 8.20 pm when she had to leave - so all in all, a great day *g* Another success story ;-)

Long story longish :

It started out a bit weird, because I was sure I wouldn't be able to meet with her, and I was already picturing the scene in my head - me at home when the only thing I wanted was to be there. Thankfully she caught me on LJ before I left and we chatted on AIM to decide on how to proceed precisely - the rendez-vous went really smoothly may I add, no one missed anyone, which was of course our main cause of worry.

So, we met at noonish and went to Denfert-Rochereau where the March began. We found the vehicule (float?) we wanted, ie the one for the MAG, and we followed it for the three hours and a half that lasted the March. Man, it almost killed us! lol We can be proud of ourselves because we danced for the whole duration of the March - and were entertained at the same time by three guys following the same float as us who were such go-go dancers! They were really good and pretty funny, you should have seen them *g* But hey, you should have seen us, cause man, we rocked! lol Our backs and our feet didn't think they would ever recover though, but it's so worth it!

I mean, the atmosphere is just fucking brilliant - like I remembered it, though it felt like there were less people than usual. That being said, there're still thousands of people, so you wouldn't really see the difference *g* [ETA: The police reports talk about 500.000 people present. The Pride organisators talk about 700.000, so it has to be something in between *g*] There're people just everywhere, the ones from the March itself, dancing like crazy and the audience on each side of the road cheering and just you know, watching the show *g*

Because a show, it is! And a damn good one too - I think my favourites were the BDSM couples in full gear so to speak, and this guy in leather with one of those pants cut in the backside to show off your ass, know what I mean? Yes, sans undies *eg* There were beautiful drag queens everywhere, people wearing the flag all around, oh and some men in kilts and people wearing wedding dresses or tuxedoes, and of course the floats were impressive too - it's just wow... you need to go there at least once, you wouldn't regret it and you would have such a great time *g* Well, if you like dancing in public and aren't afraid of crowds and like very loud music, I mean *g*

When we finally reached place de la Bastille, we were pretty dead on our feet! Or more precisely, our feet were dead lol We found the courage to leave the place and walk some more - and we ended up in this little café with flags hanging all around - really neat if you ask me. We had a drink and started talking about QAF, slash, FPS and RPS, fandoms, LJ - perfect and entertaining conversations for fangirls, you know? *g* Then we left and went to Saint-Michel, where we did a little detour to Album --I can't go to Saint-Michel without going to Album-- where I incidentally bought Kizuna vol. 2. Then we settled in a parc, Cluny, and chatted until 8.20 pm - QAF, slash, FPS and RPS, fandoms, LJ- well you get the picture *g* We apparently scared the man sitting behind me on the bench - some people are just so innocent, they're scared by gay porn talks, who would have thought? lol Sorry, man - just didn't really realise we weren't alone *cough*

Finally, [livejournal.com profile] greedy_dancer had to leave - so we said our goodbyes - et voilà, I was back home at 9.00 pm, very happy and more than satisfied from my day *g*

Thanks girl, for a great day *g*

And now, I'm watching this new show - well new here, not new new - Jake 2.0 and I'm starting to wonder whether I didn't just find yet another show I'm going to watch on a regular basis *g* Jake seems the kind of geek I adore - and he has all those not-so-sekrit super powers, so...

Man, sounds like you had an awesome time!!

I just hope Pride catches on, or more accurately, difuses out... ..as in, disperses through the common population to the point where we don't need marches and days, where we can just go out in public with our same-sex partners and hold hands or put arms around shoulders or waists or even kiss... ..and get the same "aw, aren't they a beautiful couple in love?" that straight couples get now.

I honestly believe this can happen in our lifetimes, and I most definitely want to see it.

I had, it was wonderful.

And I totally agree - we'll know we've been accepted for what we are, as in human beings like everyone else, the day when people won't need acceptance anymore. The day when we won't need to march to say, hey, we're here and no matter what you think, we're going to hide - until then, well...

Oh man, not only am I sore all over, but I'm also feeling all mellow! Don't know why I woke up so early this morning either - went to bed around 3.30 and woke at up at 9.00. Argh! And right now, my mind is all foggy - feels like I'm high in a way lol

How could I forget about my neck! It's sore too - those Marches are really a danger to our health! lol

Hey, cool day indeed *g* - thanks for posting something about it so quickly, I was expecting this! The most exciting thing we got in Montpellier for the gay pride was a topless woman, and that's it - otherwise everyone was pretty much orderly lol

From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
It was awesome! You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it *g* And really?

Just a topless woman? Maybe not literally though, but still, too bad - we sure had some really cool characters *eg* Oh and men in kilts too, lots of them *g*

Date: 2004-06-27 04:57 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] babycakesin.livejournal.com
Yep, the woman was quite positively topless lol - but our gay pride was a few weeks ago, not yesterday.

Was Duncan around? ;)

I know when it was - when it's Pride Month I usually check the website to be sure not to miss anything *g*

I think he was there yes, in his clan plaid and everything - also, I wish I'd seen what Methos was wearing, could have been interesting *eg*

ok, so now for all the things i told you about yesterday ... i'm afraid it's not gonna be as fancy as it was before LJ ATE THE COMMENT, THAT FUCK!

erm erm. sorry. *g*

so. because it's simpler to begin that way, here is [livejournal.com profile] abundantlyqueer's LJ, where you will find weird scientific sex talk and a wonderful series whith Elijah on top (but no kink, torture, humilation or pain of any sort, i'm afraid! sorry *g*) called Clue, getting a. verrry hot. as a matter of fact, everything she writes is verrry verrrrrrry hot. worth reading, IMO.

then we have [livejournal.com profile] cruisedirector in whose memories you will find treasures of Faramir fic, either with Boromir (but i'm afraid Faramir is the top in most of them ...) or Aragorn (where Faramir is bottom. but there might be talk of het ...). you also have to check out the gerbils memories, it's pure insanity. and in the silliness section you'll find a story about vibrators which makes me crack up each time i read it. *g*

speaking of incest *whistles and looks around innocentrly*, you do know about [livejournal.com profile] gondorcest, right? and just in case you haven't seen them, there are these three stories by [livejournal.com profile] perseph2hades which are GUH. (toujours aussi coherente, t'as vu? lol)

now, what else did we talk about? oh yes, that heart-wrenching fic by [livejournal.com profile] pecos i confused you with yesterday, Prophecy, Destiny and Design. remember what i told you about it ... not perfect, but it works.

well, i think that's it, really. (is it horrible to pimp myself? it is, isnt'it? well it's not really pimping, i mean ... anyway. it's here and even though it seems to be at miles from what you usually read, well, i'd like to know what you think about it. just be kind, k? lol)

et voila! et maintenant si LJ poste pas ce comment, je vais pleurer !

LJ a peut-être enfin décidé de poster ce comment, mais il a légèrement oublié de me le notifer - I won't say anything, I won't, I won- LJ, you're such a bith this week *glare*

Anyway, thanks for the links! I'm more than curious about most of the little gems hidden behind them *eg* In particular [livejournal.com profile] pecos series, I just *have* to read it after yesterday! *g*

Now I'll have to decide where to start first. Decision, decision *chews lower lip*

I'm not part of [livejournal.com profile] gondorcest but of [livejournal.com profile] ithilien_night which is sorta the same thing, so I get my incest fix on a regular basis, thanks anyway, you never know what you can miss sometimes!

And if the het is just from afar, it's okay. I sometimes read stories where officially Aragorn is still with Arwen and Faramir with Eowyn - but the focus is on them, of course *g* Anyway, I'll check about everything you mentioned lol

Argh, too bad I had to delete my Boromir/Faramir icon *sigh*

why don't i get notifications for your comments? damn it!

oh yeah, and then you'd bring your Sharpe DVDs (je perd pas le nord moi, lol) and i'll be sure to take plenty of pictures of pretty Australian people. Kylie Minogue, Heath Ledger, David, Miranda, Nicole Kidman, Eric Bana, Hugh Jackmann ... what are the odds of finding ugly people down there? LOL

not kidding, though, we so have to organize the French Slasher's Reunion or something. BUT DON'T YOU DARE DO IT WITHOUT ME !! lol

LJ revoked our receive-comments-notification privilege yesterday, or so it seems - damn LJ this week!

And yes Sharpe DVDs! I heard so much about this series, and never got to see a single episode - it would be fab'!

Also, I soooooo love the idea of forming our own clique - woohoo! French Slashers Connection!
