Title rambling and downloads

Just realised that we're the 22nd! Joyeux Anniversaire to [livejournal.com profile] whitevanilla. Hope you'll have a fantastic day! Also hope you're really feeling better by now *hugs*

I have the title for my fic! I'm so cool [/self-congrats] Can you imagine how fucking difficult it is to actually find a theory/theorem/whatever when all you have is a vague definition that you made up based on some ideas you had in your slash story? So the hypothetical search would have been the following "brothers+lovers+mutually exclusive". At one point I even had a flashback of my physics classes back in high school --or was that junior high school-- with the whole Pauli exclusion principle thing... because it had cool cool stuff like identical fermions being unable to occupy the same quantum space and I was like okay if I twist it and turn it, it could maybe work, only no, it couldn't and anyway I wanted maths not physics, though wait, they did mention quantum physics in "Uncertainty Principle" so why couldn't I do it too, right? Except it still didn't work anyway and holy shit but why couldn't I just call my story the Don Fucked Charlie story and be done with it!

Also Mathematicians? Really don't speak like normal people. They speak mathematicianese only! So I'm browsing sites where I'm hoping to find some nice definitions of whatever principle I might fancy trying, read definitions I'll be able to understand and instead of using, you know, words they use shit like :

- and I'm like, why, now that makes total sense, thank you so much. Btw? I hate you. Oh and this is the Schrödinger equation in case you're wondering. Next time someone says you don't learn anything useful in my LJ, please be so kind as to direct them to this post. Except useful? Might be too strong a word for that kind of stuff, but whatever.

Anyway, since I'm on the subject of Numb3rs fic, I'm pretty happy to rec a new one here, written by none other than [livejournal.com profile] audrarose, namely The Arms of the Galaxy which is a beautiful story with a wonderful characterisation. I absolutely love it. Go on, click!

Changing the subject now [aren't you glad?] I'm uploading Japanese songs for [livejournal.com profile] babycakesin and I uploaded a first batch at YSI yesterday [and it felt so good being able to play with the site again, yay!] - since I'd hate for them to go to waste, I'm sharing them here too.

Batch of Sakamoto Maaya's songs: charming voice, beautiful and sometimes haunting tunes. If you're familiar with anime, you might recognise some of those.

Sakamoto Maaya - Midori no Hane
Sakamoto Maaya - Hashiru
Sakamoto Maaya - Aoi Hitomi
Sakamoto Maaya - Hemisphere
Sakamoto Maaya - Hikari no Naka
Sakamoto Maaya - Kaze Ga Fuku Hi

And since I was there, I also uploaded two French songs from the band Indochine. They started their career in 1981 [they were in their twenties at the time] but they're still alive and kicking. First song is from 1983. Second is from 2001. Different songs, different styles but I like them both *g*

Indochine - L'Aventurier
Indochine - J'ai demandé à la lune

Oh yay - Sakamoto Maaya is fantastic. And I didn't have any of those songs yet. Many huggly thanks for sharing! ^________________^

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
I have several other songs of hers that I'll upload once Babycakes is back from her little vacation on Tuesday. I'll share those too, you might find new ones to grab *g* And you're welcome, of course.

*rolls eyes*

goodlordalmighty I feel old somedays

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
LOL Okay so maybe I could have phrased that differently?

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually no, I don't *g* Twenty years is really a long time in a career, in particular in the music industry, so the fact that they're still alive and kicking, ie the band, was note worthy *nodnod*

[identity profile] aswanargent.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, right, it was the age of the BAND you were talking about. Nothing at all to do with the age of the band MEMBERS, oh no ....

Hmmmpphhh!

I have dust bunnies under my bed that are older than members of this band that is "still alive and kicking" !!

I knew exactly what the dear little Mouse meant, *eg*, but it's soooo much fun to tease her.

Agreed! I do it all the time. :-)

helvirago: (plot)

[personal profile] helvirago 2005-04-22 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
What's sad is, formulas like that are actually an attempt to make things simpler and more readable, because otherwise it'd be a paragraph long and end up saying things like, "now divide that variable -- you remember, the variable that was produced by applying the function discussed above -- no, the one that involved the square root of your initial variable -- and then taking the sum of the other functions and integrating -- by the other one -- the one which is the remainder of the result of the Fourier function applied to..."

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
Sad? It's scary! lol And yes I'm having flashbacks of those endless equations and sure it's interesting too, that's not the point, but it's pure gibberish for me and the thought that it's actually a simplification is really... scary, all right *g*

[identity profile] x5-536.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
it's just because they use greek letters. i remember those awfully long formulae from when i was doing stats last semester but they're actually very simple to use and interpret. and i think the use of greek letters freak some poeple out too.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
I used to study Greek so technically, the use of Greek letters were a familiar sight in all those equations I remember from high school. And we used those in philosophy too so it wasn't that an unknown entity. The endless equations that seemed like they would strangle you on the other hand, that wasn't buddies *g*

[identity profile] whitevanilla.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
*smooches* *hugs*

Thanks so much! And yes, I am feeling MUCH better. :D

Glad to hear it *kisses*

Numb3rs fic? By you?

::dies::

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Eeeek yes! It's finished and has been sent to my beta and everything *bounces*

And thanks for the compliment, btw *beams*

[identity profile] andeincascade.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh Numb3rs fic! Can't wait to read it!

Ande (one of those weird signing chicks, but only in journals not my own!)

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
If you meant Audra's, oh yeah you definitely should run to the story, it's grand *g* If you meant mine, it's finished and is waiting in Beta Extraordinaire's inbox *g*

LOL Actually, I get why one would sign their comments in journals not their own, it's the signing one's own entries which intrigues me *g*

[identity profile] andeincascade.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, Audra's story is amazing. But then when is she not? Now I am anxious to read yours!! And where did you find your icons?

Ande

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It was, wasn't it? Then again, you're right, when does she ever write less-then-wonderful stories *g*

As for mine, I'd like to say the story will be posted this weekend, but if I have to do a lot re-work on it, it might be longer. Know what? I'd totally forogtten the feeling of writing a first story in a new fandom! Quite exciting *g*

Also, I found my icons at [livejournal.com profile] numb3rs_icons and via [livejournal.com profile] how_iconic in particular, they're gorgeous over there. Also also the one I'm using right now? Is mine, which yeah I'm so proud of cause icon making? Isn't exactly a skill of mine, so go me! lol
