Fucking ouch! So I check my mail this morning and heee! I find several parcels for me. So I run to the kitchen to open them and two of those are early birthday presents! So I'm all excited at the prospect of having two more pressies to open on Friday, right? And see, when I use *bounce* in my entries and my mails and whatever, I sometimes tend to forget the reality of it. As in, how one can, indeed, physically bounce - I don't know why I forget this, but there you have it. Except I'm not consciously deciding that I'm going to bounce, right? It just happens. Without any conscious thought on my part. Well you know the feeling, anyway. And in my kitchen? We have this - how do you call that stuff, extractor hood? It's here... above my head and I'm totally not thinking about it because hel-lo I just received T.W.O presents! For me! From my flist! And so It happens and I bounce, and the first bounce? Is always the most powerful and before I even know what I'm doing BAM! Top of head meet extractor hood. Dude! That noggin of mine took a beating with that one, I saw stars! It still hurts *pout*
Why do I tell you this? No reason, I'm taking a break from my books and rambling always relaxes me *g*
So okay I? Am sorta kinda the superstitious type as far as birthdays are concerned and just, you don't wish someone a bday before the right date, and you certainly don't open a present before the right day, so I'll wait for Friday to open them and all, but I can thank you for thinking of me right away, it's safe, right? So
yami_tai and
french_hobbit, thank you SO much! *kisses* I can't wait to be on the 27th *bounc-- looks around... checks cyber life is safe - bounce*
Changing the subject - feels like every show is coming to an end these days. Thank god for Queer as Folk being there and SG S9 coming in July - or else, talk about a tv-depressing summer! Of course we're getting Lost said summer here but well, though I am curious to see how they're going to deal with Some Details I Won't Mention Here For Fear of Spoiling The Innocent, I don't know if I'm going to like the French version. Just because of those Particular Details. They could play havoc with the story once translated. That will be interesting all right.
Oh and speaking of tv and fandom and stuff, it seems I've been tagged re:a Fandom Meme. As if I could resist that!
1) Total number of fandoms I like:
The Sentinel
Stargate SG-1
X-Files
Numb3rs
Angel
Highlander
Lord of the Rings [FPS and RPS]
Oz
QAF [though I'm afraid to say I never found so many bad!fics that in that fandom. So I just dabble in it]
Stargate: Atlantis [I apparently love Sheppard/Mckay more and more as I read it]
Star Trek: Voyager [now and then, when the mood suddenly takes me]
2) My first fandom ever:
Okay so technically that would be Poltergeist: The Legacy. That's the fandom that taught me what fanfiction and fandom are *g* Then the first fandom that got me hooked for good was Highlander - I discovered slash with that one *is nostalgic*
3) My most recent fandom:
NUMB3RS! I mean, Numb3rs *g*
4) Five fandoms that currently mean a lot to me (in order of preference): with explanations:
The Sentinel: Because there's nothing better and sweeter and hotter than Jim/Blair - reading or writing. They're my favourite couple ever - yes, even a tad before Jack/Daniel, and if I don't read TS at least once a day, there's something missing. I also happen to love the fandom-people as much as the fandom-fanfic, which doesn't happen all the time. But I have a lot of fun with TS fen and really, it just makes me happy *g*
Stargate SG-1: Because Jack/Daniel rocks my world, even if the fandom-people drive me crazy. As a whole, I stay away from them because they have the tendency to make things ugly and I'm not here for the wank, so here I concentrate on the fics.
X-Files: Because it's one of the first fandoms I got involved in - right with HL - and this is the fandom that developped my taste for dark stories and kink. It taught me everything I like and then some *g* Name a kink [dark-kink or kink-kink] XF wrote a fic about it. It was heaven. It also sorta spoiled me a bit cause afterwards, lots of fandoms seemed tame, but TS still knows how to write dark and kinky when it wants to, so it's all right *eg*
Highlander: Because it's the fandom that brought slash to my life *g* I remember seeing that story What If with that weird thing Duncan/Methos and I wondered what the hell that meant, so I clicked and wow! Talk about a revelation. This series also had lots of my favourite tastes - only in a slighter tamer version than what I was going to read afterwards *g*
Numb3rs: Because it's the more recent one, and it fuels my love for the show and vice-versa and because I never thought I would write incest and it taught me differently lol And also, cause it's still a growing fandom and seeing one develop truly is a fun experience *g*

Date: 2005-05-25 05:32 pm (UTC)That would be me somehow - see when we met, Babycakes didn't have internet yet and I'd just discovered it recently myself. I spent the whole month talking to her about those fics I read and at the time, they were essentially all from P:TL fandom. There's also this series [rather dark, too] that I spent an evening telling her about, in details and stuff - cause that's how I do my story telling. Thing is, she already knew and liked the show so I don't know, it must have helped anyway *g*

Date: 2005-05-25 09:07 pm (UTC)Now, are you up to date with Lost? Ready for tonight's two-hour second part of the season finale? I ask because next week's TV Guide has quite a bit of Lost stuff, but it would be a spoiler for you to see it before getting caught up with your viewing. So, I'll set it aside and you'll have to tell me when I can send it to you.
And, btw, there's at least one more parcel coming your way. ;-)
