"Avalon", I love you so.

castalieKnow what? I think I just found Charlie Eppes' former lover. I'm saying 'former' because of course he's with Don now. Back to the former lover thing, I'm not kidding. I'll even give you his name: Daniel Hood.
I've been re-reading Breaking Faith by Jo Bannister at work - I have a long lunch break and when I'm alone at reception I need to occupy my time, so it's fic writing or book reading, sometime both, though not at the same time obviously. Anyway, Jo Bannister's Brodie Farell series has to be one of my favourite series ever. Not because of the mystery - it's actually quite easy finding who did what, except for Breaking Faith maybe, which was special somehow, and incidentally broke my heart too - but because of her characters. I love them more than words can say. And my #1 character is Daniel Hood - he might even be my favourite book character, period. He blows my mind each time I read a new story in the series - and it doesn't hurt that the guy went through awful traumas *cough* I also know I rave about him every now and then on my LJ so it's not as if I just had a revelation, but I suppose it's been a long time. So there.
But I digress. How did I realise I'd stumbled upon an old flame of Charlie's? Easy, thanks to this excerpt:
He's talking to a rock star singer:

I mean, seriously! Charlie/Daniel, theirloveissomathematicallyhot!
Oh and I've been re-re-watching "Avalon" last night and I remembered why exactly is it that I liked Landry so much right from that first episode: I first thought it was because right from the start, right from the very first moment we got to see him, it was made clear that he was neither Hammond nor Jack, that he was his very own man so to speak with his own rules, which was something that delighted me in and of itself. But then, there was this scene that really did it for me - I'm talking about the scene right after Danielso prettily collapses and Landry goes to see Vala and tears her to shreds - or tries to because hi! This is Vala we're talking about here, and anyway she collapses as well before he has the time to do anything... but it's all beside the point. To me, the point is that he was there, angry and frustrated and worried because someone under his command had been hurt and he wanted answers and he wanted to show Vala how much she'd fucked and he sounded outraged on Daniel's behalf and I just loved that scene. I think that even if I hadn't liked the guy after his introduction scene already, that moment would have done it because to me, that scene showed that when it would matter, he would be here for his men. I mean, that's how I saw it and I just really enjoyed that scene, is all *g*
And each time I watch the episode, I find myself rewinding the same scenes over and over again and worshipping some lines attached to them even more each time I do:
#1- Daniel's whispered "I'll find out" - how he sounds so desperate and resigned and on the verge of killing someone. It lasts, like, two seconds and it makes me laugh out loud each time.
#2- Daniel's "Just do it" with the hand thing during the Infirmary scene. That moment? I want to hug it and squeeze it and kiss it and call it George!
#3- Daniel's "just to clarify, if I kill her, I die?"
#4- Vala's "let's make babies!"
Actually to make it simpler, I worship the whole Infirmary scene, and I know, I already said it, well tough!
#5- I also adore Vala's "Where's my Daniel". I can't resist people sounding all possessive of him, I just can't. Much less when they're wearing leather outfits. I know lot of viewers thought it was OTT and all but I just thought it was hot! Besides, if a male character had wore a similar outfit, I bet lots of those same viewers would have found it hot too, neither demeaning nor OTT, just plain hot and sexy. Note that I said 'some', I'm not making a generalisation here.
#6- No wait, come to think of it, I'd quote most of the episode so let's just say that most of aforementioned episode was a thing of beauty and made me laugh like mad or giggle or feel all tingly inside a lot of times.
Except that I can't not mention some of Mitchell's lines so allow me two of them - my favourites:
#7- "it's still kinda sg-me"
#8- "Wow wow wow, man! Bullets bounce" with a little dance that would put even Daniel to shame, I'm just sayin'.
Is it Friday yet, is it is it is it?
Btw, when is the 100 icon thing going live? Cause I have too many icons that I need to use! Need, I tell you!
