Had a lot of work to do today and no motivation to do it. Btw, thanks to Sam for saving my sanity in class tonight - hail to gmail chat *cough* All day long, I just couldn't wait to get home. And I also couldn't wait to watch the new Dexter. That show owns me like you wouldn't believe. Each episode is pretty much a long squee fest. And "Father Knows Best" was definitely a prime example.
OHMYGOD Ken met his Barbie! But Barbie didn't know and ohhh I felt so bad for Dexter because his Ken was right here! In front of him! Hugging him for god's sake! When I read the synopsis for this week's episode I was beside myself with excitement because Dexter.was.going.to.spend.a.whole.weekend.with.Ken! And, okay, on the one hand - even though it wouldn't have worked at all time-wise - it would have been so much fun if Dex had recognised him somehow but on the other, I just adored the fact that Dexter didn't know because it made the whole episode so much more intense and creepy and awesome! Also, usually when Dex is here, we see things through his eyes; he's the one who knows things others don't, here we were in the loop but Dex wasn't - and even better yet, we were seeing things and looking at Dexter from Ken's eyes and just how utterly brilliant was that? *dies*
Ken's looks when he was staring at Dexter were kinda amazing; so intent and all. And he couldn't let Dex out of his sight for too long, could he? Stalking is never as good as when it's done by Ken, I have to say :-) I'm also quite smitten with his comments to Dexter; considering what we know - and what we ignore, too - it made those scenes with Dexter and him even creepier!
Dude, I did warn you about the squeeing, right? Good.
Okay so, you know, I read Dearly Devoted Dexter and though I have the audio version of Darkly Dreaming Dexter, I still haven't listened to it. And now I'm quite happy I didn't because that way it's like I'm going into the show unspoiled as far as Ken is concerned. That is... from what I now know from the second novel, it's clear they used some stuff from both books to create a new plot and all but I don't know what they might have taken exactly from the first novel. So I don't know what the story behind this Ken is... and I can't help but wonder now where he's coming from. Like, could he be, I don't know, Dexter's brother or something?
Might be a stretch considering that having two serial killers in the same family isn't something you see every day though it's not as if it was impossible and if they went through the same trauma, it could work. It'd also explain even more the unhealthy - albeit so beautiful - attachment ICT-Ken-Rudy has towards Dexter. Maybe Ken did look for Dexter his whole life or something... which would make his commentary about how he's been 'waiting for a long time to meet Dex' even creepier and brilliant and stuff. And then there would be the whole 'kill-his-own-father' thing which would be even more interesting. In a twisted, dark, Dexter kinda way, mind *cough*
Incidentally, it would also make the slashy vibes between Dexter and Rudy even more wrong, but it never stopped me before. Quite the opposite, I dare say *eg*
But anyway, technically, I don't care one way or the other because Ken-R is awesome and mighty intriguing and it's enough. He's also very cute - I mean, arranging a little impromptu weekend away with his Barbie? That's just adorable. Oh! Something I'd have loved? For Ken-R to see Dexter's keyring... he would have asked where it comes from and I'd have loved to hear Dexter's reply, knowing who he was talking to.
Something else I found quite amusing is how Ken is actually better at passing for normal than Dexter is.
Anyway, each and every single scene with those two was a thing of beauty. That's the gist of it :-)
I also loved Dexter and Deb's argument - I always love it when you can see Dexter struggling to find the right words to say to someone.
Finally, Rita! Oh, Rita, I couldn't believe what almost happened. Well, no, I could considering Paul's personality but shit, he scared me. And dude, good thinking with the bat. I just hope he won't turn the situation in his favour, though I don't see how he could achieve that. Still, you never know what new twists those writers might think about...
No onto the random:
And now for some screencaps.

Oh, how much do I adore that first look? A looooot, yes. Ken is so happy here!

Sadly, Dexter doesn't know who's hugging him and so the feeling isn't exactly mutual.

*sigh* You can look at Dexter like that all the time, Ken! I don't mind! Go ahead, I'll just watch you watching Dex, all right?

Little bonding moment. Made even sweeter from the fact that Ken just rescued his Barbie - well, kinda. Because he had no intention of leaving Dex out of his sight for too long so he followed him in the dark ♥

Hmm I wonder whether I've already mentioned how much I enjoyed Rudy's looks? Because in case it wasn't clear enough, I do.

And this time we have a great look in return from Dex. Thank you, Dex!

And so they do what every couple of serial killers do for fun - when they're not killing, obviously - scatter stolen ashes to the ground in front of a bowling club.

And then it's time to say goodbye. But never fear, Ken, it's not the last time you're seeing your mate!

Another gratuitous Dexter shot. Because I can.

And this one is because little!Dex is just too cute for words - especially when he's not crying in the middle of a pool of blood.
Does anyone know where I can watch the promo for next week? I'll try over at YouTube if needs be but I didn't have that much luck for the previous one. Also, still no news on how to access the bloody showtime website when you're not from the US of A? Because it really grates on my nerves being unable to visit that website just because I don't live over there. So fucking what, man, gimme access to the site!
And still on the subject of Dexter - did you know that we'll get a third book? Because I didn't and when I found out I was all excited! A new Dexter novel! In July, though, which is a lifetime away, but still!
Unrelated #1 - I caught up with Heroes last night and that show keeps being all kinds of brilliant! I love that it's moving fast enough that we don't feel like we'll die of old age before things start to come together but slow enough that we're still sitting on the edge of our seats and craving the next episode to finally get the new twists and turns.
Oh and also, I think Masi Oka and Milo Ventimiglia appeared on tv somewhere? Does anyone know in what show and whether I can find it on-line? To download or watch - maybe on YouTube again - cause I'd love to see them. Thanks.
Unrelated #2 - to the French on my flist who have cable? SPN is premiering on TF6 next week.

- Loved Ken-R's reply to Rita when she told them about Dexter using the trashcans of the neighbours - 'Criminal. I liike it'. I bet you do!
- The dancing scene was cute too.
- As were those shots of Dexter and Rudy both using their favourite tools to work. Ha!
- Kid!Dex drawing his Thank You card was a great scene as well. For someone who doesn't have feelings, he definitely looked disappointed when he thought he wouldn't be able to give the card. And I love that Harry realised how important it was for Dex.
- I have to say I was surprised that Harry did give the card to BioDadJo, though. Or maybe he thought he was lying enough as it was? Even for a good reason.
- Oh and we got see the Mother! Who would have thought?
