Dec. 31st, 2006 03:28 pmIt has been ages since I've watched Les Guignols de l'Info so I don't know if that's a recurring theme or not but hee they did a reference to Prison Break! Chirac having tattooed the map of his house on his wife's back lol Dude *shakes head*
Okay so this is it; the last day of 2006 and as per tradition here is the Year in Writing meme.
Overall I wrote seventeen stories in five fandoms. Two of which being new ones. It's not a lot compared to some people, I know, but compared to myself last year? I wrote, like, twice more stories - so I'm pretty satisfied :-)
I. Fics:
1.The Sentinel: Layers and Cells | Curiosity Killed the Cat. Or So They Say | Small Christmas Tree in a Small Apartment
2. Numb3rs: Don Is | Second Chance | Weekend | Kitchen Interlude | I Never Walk Alone
3.Supernatural: Yes, Sir | Possession | Bless Me, Father | Relief | Carpe Diem | Blushing Virgin Dean | Bringing Down the Walls Where I'll Find You
4. Heroes: Ripples in the Pond
5. SPN RPS: Twas the Day Before Christmas [I'm not including it here to be a tease or anything but since I did write that ficlet I'm listing it with the rest of my stories, even though this one won't be archived anywhere. I'm glad the recipients liked it but still... RPS is just too difficult to write characterisation wise, I don't feel comfortable in it. I did have fun with that little story, but that's it. For the moment, you never know, of course *shrug*]
Not!Fics:
1.The Sentinel: Five Jim/Blair Kisses | 1sentence part 1- Jim/Blair: Night series | 1sentence part 2 - Jim/Blair: Night series
II. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Hmm well I know I wanted to write more fics in 2006 than I did in 2005 but knowing my issues with writing and all I didn't expect anything per se...
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2006?
Gen! Not that I have anything against gen but my mindset is slash-all-the-time when I write my fics so I was certainly not expecting to write a gen story. In the Supernatural fandom to boot. Whis is also a reason why the whole 'omg SPN is disgusting and annoying because it's all about perverts writing slash and incest ALL THE TIME' argument makes me smile because SPN actually made me write my first - and okay only so far - gen story. That's irony for you :-)
What's your favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I think my favourite has to be the Blushing Virgin Dean story. First it was longer than usual - 9000 words - and second I kept bouncing and giggling and feeling happy with myself when I wrote it. I also think it was pretty sexy and hot. So, yeah, I guess that's my favourite.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.)
Don't think so, no.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
I do. I have a story to write for
j2_otpathon for a start, which is One Hell of a Goal for me considering my issues with challenges. I also have a TS story I've been thinking of writing; a little New Year ficlet. I wrote a Christmas story in the Night 'verse, now I was thinking of writing a NY story in the regular one. And speaking of my Night 'verse, I'd like to write more of it too.
III. From my past year of writing, what was...
My Best Story
Best story and favourite story don't necessarily go in pair, then, right? Because I want to say Ripples in the Pond, maybe. I loved it because it was a bit dark - considering the world the characters lived in - but it was also sweet and hopeful and it had a certain intensity to it. Well, that's how I wrote it - now it doesn't mean everybody saw it, mind *g*
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe
Tough one, I'm not sure I felt any of my fics was underappreciated. I'm always so happy when I get feedback. But let's say my gen SPN?
Most fun
Blushing Virgin Dean story *nods*
Most disappointing
None, sorry. Or not so sorry, actually :-)
Most sexy
Okay so not to sound like a broken record or anything but I'd say it's tie between Blushing Virgin Dean and its prequel Carpe Diem. Because Sam fingering Dean in public is a lovely thing to write, really.
Story With a Single Sexy Moment
Look, I'm one of those writers who - usually - enjoy and like the stories they write and even go as far as think a lot of the sexy scenes are, indeed, sexy so I'm not sure I could pick one. I mean, I had a lot of fun writing a lot of sexy moments - be it Jim and Blair 'just' kissing, or Dean blowing Sam in an alley while he's wearing his priest uniform, or Don rubbing against Charlie in the kitchen while Alan and David are in the other room, or Mohinder just watching Peter sleep...
Hardest to Write
I suppose it really proves that I haven't really written anything 'difficult' this year because all the stories I wrote kinda wrote themselves, IIRC. But let's say Ripples in the Pond because there was an atmosphere I wanted to create and I knew exactly which one it was and so I didn't want to mess it up.
Most Unintentionally Telling
*blink* That's an odd question... none.
My fic resolution for 2007 would be to try playing with challenges a bit more though I'm not holding my breath. I'd also like to write longer stories but, here again, as long as I write, I'm happy so it's not necessary necessary. It would be grand, though, I admit :-)
RL wise... I have a big project in 2007 and I'm hoping I'll achieve it. I also need to find myself a new not!resolution. The one I did last year went well. I wanted to really go back to reading actual books and I did. I listed them all as I finished them and I read thirty-seven novels. It's still a lot less than I used to read Before Internet but I'm still happy because there was a time when it felt like I didn't read any novels anymore, only fics, and it was seriously starting to annoy me. Last year I still read many many fics - duh! - but I also read novels and it was of the good. Oh, and I also made sure to read more French novels - or novels in French, depending - because for a time it also felt as if I only read in English and that was a bit ridiculous. So there *g*
So tonight. It'll be The Parental Unit, The Esu, La Globule and me. We'll celebrate the New Year and my cousin's birthday so we'll double the fun :-) Mum and I went shopping this morning and methinks it'll be a real feast tonight! We'll start the cooking soon enough - it's always fun cooking together, I like that *g*
Hope everyone will spend a lovely New Year celebration - or already did, depending on which side of the world you live in :-)

So much hotness in one sentence! It makes me want to go re read all your stories again.
I get what you mean about novels too. I've started buying books again, and you know, as much as reading fic is wonderful, snuggling up with a good book is just as wonderful.
I'd say I hope you have a good night, but somehow, I know you will have.
Happy New Year, sis!
