Welcome to the Donnellys!

Omg I'm alone in the house, I repeat, I'm alone in the house! No Teacher Girl, no Teacher Boy. And no Teacher Boy's Parental Unit. Not even The Mum as she's with the lot. Blissful silence *takes a moment to worship*
Still sick but today still had some goodness in it for I've watched Heroes which absolutely rocked and I've kinda fallen for a new show, which pilot was all kinds of awesome, namely The Black Donnellys.
What to say about Heroes except that I love that show more than words can say? Oh Heroes what you do to us! Why did you have to make me cry, why? But that ending *sniffles*
I've enjoyed the relationship between Claire and her father from the word go and I've always found Daddy Bennett really interesting as a character but he kinda exceeded all my expectations here. Man, he loves his daughter so much, he was willing to sacrifice everything for her. It can't get better than this. And sadder. In a beautiful way but just thinking of that last scene between them makes me want to cry again *tears up*
And Claire absolutely rocks. She's so strong and brave and she's always risking her life and yeah, sure, we know that she'll come back from the dead but it doesn't mean she doesn't fear or doesn't hurt and just - she's such a wonderful character!
Matt! He never gets a break, does he? They have Matt omg!
And little!Hiro! Playing Game Boy *squishes* Now if they give me little!Peter, I might just die and go straight to heaven. No wait, I forgot, I'll go straight to the special hell. Whatever!
And Claude is still as brilliant as ever ♥
Never change, Heroes *clings*
And for the novelty of the day. The Black Donnellys. Okay so the reason why I downloaded the pilot? The story is about brothers. Not two. Not three. But four. How could I resist that, right? And so I downloaded and, holy shit, that was a good show premiere, wow!
I'll admit that apart from the fact that the main characters were four brothers, I had no idea what the story was. Yes, I'm easy, so what? So I started watching and I smiled a lot because the way the story is told is a lot of fun. And I guess, even with the seriousness of the kind of life the boys live, I was sorta, I don't know, lulled into a false sense of safety? I knew they evolved in a dangerous and violent world but I wasn't really expecting things to go downhill that way.
The beating Sean took made me cringe all the way, man that was painful. As well as the conclusion of the whole mess. Tommy who refused to give them Jimmy, Kevin who went with him. And then Tommy stabbing the guy and then pulling out his gun. With in parallel the revelation of the guilt he's been carrying all his life. Dude! I know it was all kinds of wrong but that was, well, that was intense and gritty and heartbreaking and I loved it.
And then we saw Kevin outside shooting the two guys without the slightest hesitation, because he was where he was supposed to be, with his brother and protecting his other siblings... seriously, it's all fucked-up but in the most delicious way.
So yes if you love your shows with brothers who love each other to death and who are a bit fucked-up - or a lot - if you love gritty stories with some fun thrown in the midst - well, I don't know if the rest of the season will be like that premiere but one can only hope - run, don't walk and download the premiere! Hopefully you won't be disappointed. I'm impatient to see the second episode now; see if the love is meant to grow or if it was just a one-time thing ;-)

Date: 2007-02-27 10:54 pm (UTC)*an hour later* can you believe I'm actually editing my comment to talk about a show you've never even seen? Anyway, thanks for your patience and look at this: a guy thanked Aaron Sorkin for Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip, and at the end of his article, he suggested that they should take the show to HBO - I can't even begin to tell you how my heart leaped when I read that! It would be brilliant!
(and btw, they compared the ratings between TBD and S60. Apparently, TBD started well and then dropped in the second half. And I can't believe I'm actually starting to talk about ratings - time for bed, I think *rolls eyes*)

Date: 2007-02-28 06:18 pm (UTC)A month of mourning? I guess it's fair *nods*
but I gotta give it to you: you know how to sell a show.
Why, thank you for the compliment, ma'am :-)
And talk about S60 as much as you want; I love it when you're obsessing over a show *g* Go you!

Date: 2007-03-01 03:12 pm (UTC)I wish I wasn't obsessing about a dying show though! but hey, I just read that TWW went through some rough times in its first season, so there's hope *crosses fingers*
btw, I posted the CDs this morning, so we'll see when you get them (then again, I ain't in Montpellier any more, so there's hope). However: I forgot to write anything (there's no note or anything) - sorry about that :p
