Sweat-slicked bodies
Aug. 7th, 2003 02:01 pmOh you're smirking, uh? Ya think I'm talking about some hot sex scenes in a slash story?
You're wrong!
I'm talking about something 'hot' alright, but not the good kind.
I think 'scorching heat' means nothing right now. We're apparently breaking all kind of heat records here, and it's driving us crazy! It's ridiculous. I took a shower --cold as all our showers are now-- and I swear it feels like I never had one. I always assimilated cold showers with UST, you know? Assimilated them with, let's say, Jack wanting to bend Daniel over his office desk and not being able to... Typical stuff. But *these* cold showers? Absolutely no fun in them... none at all.
One of the tacit rules where I live is that we can't really go outside wearing shorts or the like.... don't ask me why, people under 25 are stupid sometimes *shrug* We just don't do it. Not in Choisy, not in Paris... but even that important tacit rule is being, well, overruled by the heat. We're wearing less and less clothes! lol Our shorts are getting shorter, and our shirts... well, they're getting shorter too. If I have to be honest, the shirt I'm wearing almost look like a bra! lol But well, I'm not leaving the house anyway... and who in their right minds would want to leave their houses? It's a real sauna inside, but outside it's just hell.
And at night? Ah! Nights are supposed to be colder, fresher...well, someone should tell them! Because apparently they completely forgot. It's slightly more bearable-- 'slightly' being the keyword. I fell asleep at 4.30 last night, it was just impossible to go to sleep. I actually found myself yelling for no reason at... nothing, since I was alone in the house, but I just *had* to yell.
The heat is driving us crazy, I'm telling you.
I'm not asking for autumn to arrive, I'm not asking for a rainy weather, a grey sky... but please I want some air!!! *whimper*

Date: 2003-08-07 05:36 am (UTC)I like the summer, but the heat's gone too far this year :(

Date: 2003-08-07 08:07 am (UTC)I totally second that, it's gone too far this year. And I must say I'm not really into summers. I'm a Winter Child --not that I was born during winter, but that's my favorite season-- and I don't really like summer in general. The heat and blue sky is definitely nice, I wouldn't want it any other way, but this? Nah uh, this is just *too* much!
Also, I completely forgot in my last mail, but I agree with the idea you had about the challenge. Just choose the final version of it, and it'll be perfect. I think it's going to inspire some people, considering!
So, you post Challenge #3 and I'll close Challenge #2, okay with you? *g*

Fine. Once you close challenge 2 I'll post #3. How about 'It's bloody hot. How do Jim and Blair cope?' ;)
Seriously, I think I'll just say something like, 'Heat is the important factor in this weeks challenge. You can write about anything as long as heat is involved somewhere in the story'

Date: 2003-08-07 09:47 am (UTC)Perfect. I think this one is good. I guess the best is to stay 'generic' sometimes.
It's a deal then, I'll close it sometime this evening... I'm wondering if we should try to keep a regular schedule for the closing thing?

Date: 2003-08-07 10:05 am (UTC)What do you mean?
Like the same time each week, or you close and I open or vice versa? Give this brain dead girl a clue *g*

Date: 2003-08-07 01:00 pm (UTC)So from now on we take turns. One opens and one closes, is it just me or does that sound smutty *g*
The challenges will close between 8 and 9, give or take an hour because of us being a time zone apart. Once it's closed the other person will announce the next. Cool!
Okay then, I'm off to announce heat!

Date: 2003-08-07 10:34 pm (UTC)Okay for the schedule as well...
I already wrote the first draft of my challenge btw! lol Guess the damn heat inspired me *g*
am miserable due to heat overload
Date: 2003-08-07 06:38 am (UTC)And this is from a person who survived China and Texas in August, so has a fairly good grip on heat - I got so used to it it's my first week complaining like that... Hell, last week I was wearing a pair of long jeans and had no problem with it... I WANT TO GET A DECENT NIGHT SLEEP!!!!
They say it's going to continue until September... but did they mean early Sept. or late Sept?

Date: 2003-08-07 09:01 am (UTC)BTW, I read you fics, and loved them. Particularly the one about submission (I mean the Sentinel one). They were great, well written and all. Try some Beecher/Keller!

Date: 2003-08-07 09:48 am (UTC)At least someone is feeling a little cooler *g* Ohhh and there's a river nearby too? Goodie! lol
Thanks for the nice comments about my stories *g* Your favorite is "The Gift of his Submission", then? This one is dear to my heart, first it was the very first fic I wrote (and finished) and second, it deals with a theme I *love*, ie bdsm *g*
I wouldn't say no to writing some Beecher/Keller because I really love them, but I couldn't do it, I just don't know the show enough... know what I mean? I like to have a solid canon knowledge before I try my hands at a fandom.
I'll be content reading all the good fics I can find with them though! lol I'm finding my way through an archive
Heat
Date: 2003-08-07 11:12 am (UTC)Thank god, it dropped lower than 40 degrees Celsius *finally*, now we have a fresh and crispy temp of 38 degrees Celsius.
No further comment on that topic.
