I mailed Kat yesterday about the files I couldn't open, and yes, it *was* a problem with some codecs. I tried to download the missing codecs on line, but it didn't work. Typical. Since Kat is really resourceful, she advised me to download a Codec Pack... I did... and still nothing. It was supposed to work at once, so now, I don't really know what is happening-- or not happening in that case. I'm now wondering if I just shouldn't try to download a new version of Media Player.

*whines* I wanna see "Kizuna" and "Bronze" and "Zetsuai"! And I also want to see the kinky part of "Boku no sexual harassment"! There's a non-con bdsm scene in the second part, and *of course* I couldn't open said second part either! *glare* I think I'll have to re-read "Kizuna"-- at least, it'll be something *g* But I won't give up, I want to see them on *screen* instead of just on a *page*, is that clear? *glaring again at Media Player*

Also, since I'm apparently in an anime mood, I'm still watching CLAMP's X, and the animation is really perfect!! I'll admit that I couldn't wait to see Subary and Seishiro last night, so I skipped the first parts to directly see the ones where they're on screen *g* But hey, I already know the manga, so I'm not really missing anything new, and anyway, believe me, I'll go back to the correct order soon, like tonight! *innocent smile*

*~*~*

We have fresh air!!!!!!! We have fresh air!!!! I can't believe it, I didn't think we would ever see the heat leave!!

The heat has apparently killed 3.000 people in the last weeks. I think I'll need a confirmation, I just can't believe it!

While I don't claim to be a genuis at these things (codecs and other assorted magics) a friend pointed me towards this site (http://www.doom9.org/) that has a few helpful things to download that made it possible for me to watch some anime on VCD.

Hope it helps. :)

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it. This is getting so frustrating, you know? Knowing Kizuna and the like are right in front of me, waiting for me to 'play' them... and nothing! *pout*

Still not working for the infamous animes I mentioned in my entry. But at least the songvids are working. I sure would have preferred the other way around, but well

Hmmm...what are you using? (I have Windows media player and DivX and so far they've worked - when I have the right codecs installed, that is...>_<)

I use Windows Media Player --version 6.04.

The thing is, I just don't know what to do with the codecs thing because I donwloaded and installed two different codecs packs, and nothing worked --once again, as far as the animes are concerned.

When I open the file, it tells me it's looking for the codecs, I log in, and it starts to download them... but when they're supposedly downloaded, I still can't make the thing work. I may have the audio but not the video.

I wondered if maybe it had something to do with the version of my Windows media player...I just don't know! But it's definitely getting frustrating! *sigh*

I use MP 6.04 too because it doesn't crash as often on my computer and it usually works with the anime I have. The thing is a lot of newer anime's need codecs that the newer versions of WMp has - which bites.

If you haven't managed to get the codecs working (If fiddling around with them doesn't work) for WMP try downloading DivX and see if that works - if it's running slow or 'jerky' go to options and turn the 'playback quality' to the lowest setting - that usually works on my computer.

(I'm running Win98 on a 500Mz processor and 120 MB RAM - oldie bit goodie :D)

Well hear this, yesterday the 'fiddling around' worked, and I was able to watch "Boku no sexual harassment" part 2! Now I feel hope invading my body again lol I guess I'm going to mess around with the codecs every day, until my WMP can read all of them *g*

I may try to download DivX though, yeah, you're right *g*

I'm running Win98 as well. My HD is slowly dying, but three weeks ago, I made the discovery that my computer was actually a Pentium3, and could a) be saved and b) become one hell of a machine *g* I just don't have the money to buy a new HD right now, but guess what I'm going to buy in the future? *g*

Maybe I should try to find a student job first... if only those bookstores or libraries I send applications to wanted to take me!! *pout*
