Bring it on down to Omeletville!
Jan. 21st, 2008 12:49 amAfter being in a group of six all weekend - seven at one point, even - it's a bit weird being back on my lonesome tonight, but such is life that French Posse Weekends can't last forever! We're already planning on doing another one in April, though, so I guess I might survive the separation!
So. This weekend we: went to Starbucks at soon as we arrived in Lyon. I can't start my recap without mentioning Starbucks right away. It's just way too emblematic for us.
Anyway. We reached our goal first thing. We, at this point, meaning
moimoietmoi,
greedy_dancer and me +
crazybutsound who had come to pick us up at the station, and
french_hobbit who joined us when we were queuing.
We stayed there for a little while - trying not to let the lack of cheesecake traumatise us too much - and then went to pick
babycakesin up at the station at 19h47.
Once everyone was there, we went to
crazybutsound's where we made ourselves quite comfortable and chatted, goofed around and watched vids on YT and whanot all night. We did get hungry around midnight so Jem fed us by making some mean pasta. Because midnight is an awesome time to eat pasta, as everyone knows.
We kept with the chatting and YouTubing and other thing in 'ing til pretty late. In fact, poor Rosie and Sam fell asleep on the couch. Yes, pictures were taken. Actually, pictures were taken all through the weekend but some things are ours to keep! Anyway, that's when Jem drove the girls to Rosie's. We'd decided to divide our troop into two groups - Babycakes and I were staying at Jem's and Sam and GD at Rosie's.
After her return, Jem and Babycakes started knitting while watching the tv. Again, yes, pictures were taken. They looked way too cute in their knitty-togetherness.
Babycakes went to bed around 4.00 am and Jem and I stayed up til 5.30 to watch Torchwood. It was pretty awesome :-) I understand the gushing all over the flist, now.
On Saturday, some people had a bit of trouble waking up so the day officially started kinda late. Like, around, 3.00 PM or something? Mind you, we might have started the day later than we'd usually planned because
crazybutsound was busy pimping us Cobra Starship like a mad pimping thing. Just a thought.
But hey, we did leave the flat and went outside! Yes, we did. And walked! Babycakes will tell you it wasn't that tiring but what does she know? You can't trust a trekker's word, really! Just because the girl will trek for miles in the desert with a backpack as heavy a small child on her back, she thinks she knows everything about Real Sport, ha!
So, anyway, we strolled around the Old Lyon - gorgeous, really - for a little while then were on the verge of dying of starvation. Except we found a restaurant, so we were saved! By then Jem's Lil Bro had joined us, btw, so, seven we were.
We resumed our little walk in the city and had a great time, I have to say. Lyon really is a gorgeous city... also there were some animations in the streets, so it added to its charm. It doesn't have anything to do with anything but we were promised a candy shop, alas, it would appear it had closed. Lyon could work on its timing, sometimes. I'm just sayin'.
We tried to go to Starbucks again but Starbucks failed us so we decided to comfort ourselves by spending money on books and DVDs instead. Not that we needed any but, I don't know, they were in front of us? Yes.
Around... dude, I don't remember... 7.00, 8.00 PM, something like that? We invaded
french_hobbit's place and since we'd eaten pasta the night before, we decided to be reasonable this time. So we ate pizzas and Häagen Dasz. Because we're delicate girls who like to watch their figures and who believe in dieting, thank you very much, except for how we're not and we don't at all \o/
After stuffing ourselves with the junk-food-that-tastes-so-good-because-it's-bad-for-us, we had ourselves a very cultural night watching song parodies and some songs that were not, in fact, parodies even though, wow, they totally sounded like they were. And some of the girls karaoke'd those songs and It Was Funny.
Speaking of funny, if one day you'd like to go and see Iddie Izzard perform but can't afford the ticket? Don't feel sad because we have a solution ! We'll sell you
greedy_dancer for the night. The girl is kinda amazing as far as mimicking him - or anyone else for that matter - is concerned. She's just hilarious ♥
Incidentally there was some singing and dancing all weekend because we learnt the Very Difficult choreography from the Guilty Pleasure clip video. Yes, there's one! When they're sitting on the couch! With their arms? Yes, that one. Dude, that's hours of rehearsal! Wait, or is that a couple of minutes *ponders*
Babycakes, Jem and I left pretty early on - 11.30 PM - because we didn't want to miss the last trains. Once back at Jem's, I watched the pilot of The Sarah Connor Chronicles with Babycakes and then the second episode on my own. Seeing at it was 'only' around 2.30 AM, Jem and I then decided to watch a little of Firefly. As you're wont to do at this time of the night.
Sunday came and since we'd realised that if we wanted to get ourselves some cheesecake, we had to go to Starbucks early-ish, we paid them a little visit at noon-ish. Okay, 1.00 PM. And we finally succeeded in! It was good.
Then
babycakesin left us to go back to Tours and then
greedy_dancer did as well to meet with a friend and since it was incredibly sunny and we still had a little time before Sam and I left, we had ourselves a little walk under the sun. Admittedly it was overcrowded but it was still nice. Felt like it was spring. It was that sunny and almost!warm.
Then came a confusing time where we thought we'd lost Rosie - not our fault - and it was Very Traumatising because Sam and I hadn't had the time to actually kiss her goodbye but all Ended Well because she joined us at the station - with GD who was back - to say goodbye. So we had our kisses.
And then Sam and I were on the train. And our Awesome Weekend was over.
So! To sum up this weekend was a awesome and a lot of fun and also very educational. We learnt many things, including:
And, like, I can now put into practice what I learned this weekend, bandomwise. So I'm watching some Cobra Starship clip videos on YouTube and I find the Snakes on a Plane (Bring it) clip and I'm like; ha! This is Gabe singing. Okay, easy. And there's Travis from Gym Class Heroes next to him. OH! And that's Pete from FOB on the phone and, okay, a little tougher now... the third singing guy, let me think. That's a pretty boy who actually looks like a pretty girl, hmm, it has to be William from The Academy Is \o/ I'll admit I don't know who the girl is... just that's it's not Vicky-T, that's all I can say.

So! To sum up this weekend was a awesome and a lot of fun and also very educational. We learnt many things, including:
- Starbucks in Lyon don't have cheesecakes after 5.00 PM. Not that we harassed them or anything. I mean, we only went there on Friday evening when we arrived. Then on Saturday afternoon on our way back from the Old Lyon. And on Sunday. That's all! Of course, by then we were clever and sneaky when we decided to be there early and lo! The cheesecake was here! Ha!
- The Office theme ringtone is evil. That's a fact.
- It is entirely possible to cram six adult slashers in a little car. Following the same idea, it could be also entirely possible to have kinky lesbian sex at the back of said car. You just need to be flexible. Rosie, Sam, GD and me? We had a lot fun back there.
crazybutsound claims she didn't see anything, she was too busy trying not to crash us all into a tree.
babycakesin was busy holding our coats. All I have to say is, I'm glad I don't have a driver's licence. Or a coat holder card. - Talking about ménage à trois and gay sex and other innocent issues in a restaurant never fail to make at least one couple in the vicinity edgy and nervous.
- Justin Timberlake makes an awesome Omelette! God, he killed me in SNL!
- Dean and Nick Boyle would make good fuck buddies - like I always said they would - and Jem solved my dilemna as far as those two are concerned. Nick would be the one to top. For all kind of good reasons, too.
- Of course, two bottoms don't make a top, but that's another story.
- Cobra Starship is fantastic and Alex and Gabe are In Love except you can't find fics of them because apparently the fandom is all about Ryland/Alex and, speaking of, Alex would like to know why he's always the bitch in all those fanfictions he reads, kthxbai.
- We are Very Happy that they decided to dump First Cobra Starship Girl and replace her by Vicky-T. We Like Vicky-T Very Much ♥
And, like, I can now put into practice what I learned this weekend, bandomwise. And, why, yes, it most definitely counts!

And BWHAHAHAHAHA! That video of the Office ringtone made me laugh like a loon.
Byt the way, next FP weekend? I'm totally bringing a video camera. *nods*

If you've never seen the clip video, I guess this won't make sense to you. If you have, well, I was talking about the 'arm choreography' the band does on the couch, is all *g*
