May. 14th, 2004 01:42 amI had a great day and a great evening-- but I'm a bit too sleepy to make my report, so it'll be a quickie here about the SG award *g*
I finally was able to access the site --there was a bug in their system, which explained why I couldn't all day-- and I now know which story I've been nominated for. It wasn't Breaking Point: Silence again like I thought, but The Long Sleeved Shirt.
Are you surprised that I've been nominated in the non-con category *again*? If you know me, you shouldn't lol
This story is another one that is pretty dear to my heart, but I'm just surprised someone else actually thought about it. It's rather short and was written some time ago. Surprised, but *definitely* thrilled, as you can imagine *g*
Now... I don't know if we're supposed to talk about the other authors who've been nominated as well-- well, unless they do it first, but I was literally flabbergasted to see the name of a particular writer on the list.
I never said anything against her or against her work-- I think that what she writes doesn't have *anything* to do with SG, and even less with Jack and Daniel, but whatever floats her boat, stirs her coffee, so I just stayed the hell away from her fics, and never really mentioned them; but to actually see her nominated not once, not twice but apparently *several* times-- well, it just blew me away, I have to admit. She obviously has more fans than what I thought *blink*
Should she win something... well, it'll be one of those scary mysteries you can't understand.
Everyone has a right to write, and I'm not denying this right even in the slightest-- like I said, as long as I'm not forced to read her stories I'm all right, and I don't see why I should even think of her having to stop writing-- I suppose she feels the same pleasure when she writes something as I do, and that's what counts. Besides, she definitely has an audience, so why the hell not?
But okay yeah, color me fucking surprised, is all *g*
On a final note, I was sooooooooo pleased to see familiar names in the other nominated writers *waves at flist*

Date: 2004-05-13 04:42 pm (UTC)They're actually warning all the nominated writers first, ask them to check if everything is all right-- right categories for their fics, active links and so on and so forth, and then it'll go public *g*

Date: 2004-05-13 04:46 pm (UTC)The fan awards e-mailed us a month or so ago and asked for jackslashdaniel.com to enable hotlinking to them, as several things we have hosted were nominated. I'm anxious to find out what! =D

Date: 2004-05-15 08:55 am (UTC)Speaking of scary, know what? Now I'm *really* afraid the girl is actually going to *win* something. I mean, all her fans are going to consider this as their mission, like the perfect vengeance or something-- and if she wins... I think I'll lose my faith in this award, I swear *shudder*

Date: 2004-05-13 04:58 pm (UTC)Second, you lost the mail even though you were nominated not once but at least twice-- that I can remember of? You crack me up, girl, I promise! lol
I'll send it to you later off-LJ *g*
Would love to see if the person to whom you are referring is the person i think you mean
Well, it's easy-- think beagles... does it ring a bell? *eg*

Date: 2004-05-13 06:53 pm (UTC)I suspect I know who you're talking about, simply because I've heard her name mentioned a few times before, always in reference to people's WTF? reactions to her stories. I think I might've tried reading one or two, and couldn't really get past the first few paragraphs.
I think that what she writes doesn't have *anything* to do with SG, and even less with Jack and Daniel, but whatever floats her boat, stirs her coffee, so I just stayed the hell away from her fics
Yeah, that's pretty much my reaction too. She does have an audience, which boggles my mind, but heck, as long as I can roll my eyes at the gratuitous character Mary Sueing in private and click Delete pronto, I'm good :)

Date: 2004-05-14 01:54 am (UTC)And I'm pretty sure we're indeed talking about the same girl. She became a sort of... legend within the SG fandom. She has her fans, yeah-- and obviously enough to be nominated though I couldn't believe some of them, I swear *blink*

Date: 2004-05-14 01:57 am (UTC)Pretty usual theme, but it apparently worked *g*
The thing is I focused on Daniel's state of fugue... and Jack's support of his lover.
