Oh, talk about culinary souvenirs! In today's episode of Un Dîner Presque Parfait, one of the contestants decided to do a half-French half-English dinner. At the end of her appetizers, she brought a sekrit product which I'd recognised as soon as she started describing it at the beginning of the show; she talked about a 'really particular taste' and 'potential trauma' and how the French usually disliked it with a passion. She also mentioned 'salty' and 'strong'. I couldn't help my face going all scrunchy because I immediately thought 'MARMITE omg!'

And I was right. She picked Marmite as her little surprise. Except, I think she - and I - got the surprise because most of the other participants actually liked the taste! I'm still trying to grasp my mind around the concept of people liking Marmite.

I remember being at Wincon and forced to pop my Marmite cherry; it was nasty! Not only it is nasty but the taste just won't go away.

Changing the subject, though still on the subject of the UK, I'm all set for Connotations \o/ I received my Eurostar tickets, I've asked - and got - two days off at work, the hotel room is booked and yami_tai is going to book our train to Newcastle. I've done my part, if things go wrong and I can't attend, it won't be my doing but the universe's.

Okay. Now. Off to watch Live from Abbey Road for my daily PATD fix and then I'm hoping my T:TSCC download will be done. Heee 2x01 is here! And I almost missed it omg!

Marmite is disgusting. I do like that they acknowledge how much people abhor it in their adverts, though. It's one of those love it or hate it things.

Oooh, I forgot people would be coming up my way for Connotations! krazykipper will be staying at our place over that weekend; I'd love to see you if you get the chance ♥

I have no idea how the schedule will work out - it'll be my first time at Connotations - but if Tai and I have the time, I'd love to see you again :-) I'm just not making any promises, you know?

marmite is bad, but dude, VEGEMITE is WORSE. If you can imagine that. lol

I saw that episode too ... can you believe that guy who went "elbows off the table!" to another contestant? o.O

Vegemite is worse then Marmite? God, I don't even want to imagine what it tastes like!

Let see if I have learned my lesson well in NZ: *recites* "marmite is not edible but vegemite is, as long as you don't put a lot of it on your toast" [/recitation]

I'd say GD does not agree with NZ. She tells me Vegemite is actually worse than Marmite, which, is a bit of a nightmarish idea!

Connotations is at the beginning of October. J'ai eu mon vendredi 3 et mon lundi 6. Comme ça, je pars le matin. Je rejoins Tai à Londres. On part à Newcastle et on arrive là-bas dans l'après-midi. Vu que la convention commence déjà. Et je reviens dimanche soir. Lundi, je me repose et j'essaie de redescendre de mon petit nuage :-)

This is another things Australia and NZ disagree on actually - seriously, my flatmates were adamant about the fact that Vegemite was better than Marmite. I just took their word for it, cause it's not like I'm going to do some actual tasting of the two (I know better)

You know, I was raised to never say stuff like 'no, I don't like it' if I hadn't tasted some piece of food beforehand? But after tasting Marmite, I'm totally ready to defy my mother's upbringing and go 'NO, I DON'T WANT VEGEMITE I DON'T LIKE IT' even though I've never tasted the thing.

Though, well, I do admit to having a certain morbid curiosity about it now. Is it really worse than Marmite?

OMG! Sis. It's tv downloading season again and I am conflicted! Soon there'll be House and SPN and NCIS and all the CSI shows to download. But right now there's Greek and Gossip Girl and Bones just sitting there and they'll be coming on UK tv soon, but *wants*
