Jan. 12th, 2009 08:39 pmI feel totally validated because I went to the doc today and turns out I don't have a 'flu-like cold' but The Flu, period. Meaning I had - and still have - good reasons to feel like crap. I'm off work till Wednesday so I'll just rest and rest some more. And try not to cough up my lungs in the meantime.
Right this minute, I'm waiting for Cookie to get home from work, while my Alphabet soup is boiling - in case you think I'm mean, she already ate so that's why I'm talking about 'my' soup... but I'll share with her if she's still hungry, promise!
Alphabet soup is my comfort food when I'm sick. That and vermicelli soup. It always reminds me of being a kid and being sick and having my mom "cook" it for me. I think it's the kind of tradition that needs to live on :-)
The program for tonight is some Xmas film. I know, Christmas is behind us but I received my latest order from Amazon and it was all about Christmas: The Muppet Christmas Carol because I've been wanting it for ages, It's a Wonderful Life because I haven't seen it in a long time and... Christmas Cottage because Jared! And Richard Burgi too. And because I'll buy anything if if has any of the Js in it, it's that simple. Easy, thy name is Mousey \o/
And speaking of tv related things. I've watched the pilot of Leverage in between a gazillion bouts of sleeping and dozing off and napping, but I'm afraid I got bored. The plot is pretty lame so I was trying to find a character to get interested in but it didn't happen. It might be the kind of show I need to try a second time before getting into it. I'll see if I care enough to remember to give it another go :-)
Oh and the snow has melted in Choisy today. It lasted a whole week but it had to go one day, I guess. Adieu snow, adieu white city, it was fantastic having you *kisses*

Date: 2009-01-12 08:10 pm (UTC)Sounds like you guys have got the same thing that's going round here... and it's really really nasty. Hope you feel a million times better soon. Ooh - and I can hug you 'cos I've already had it! ::glomps::

Date: 2009-01-12 08:16 pm (UTC)And hee, I have a fondness for alphabet soup too, though in my case it's because it relates with something fannish. *g* (The guy in the icon is Agent Z. All his colleagues have letters as their codenames. :D)

Date: 2009-01-17 07:50 pm (UTC)Lol Fannish associations always make food - or everything else, really - better, so I get that you would have a fondness for it :-)

Date: 2009-01-12 09:01 pm (UTC)Second, LOVE The Muppet Christmas Carol. That's always been one of my favorites since I was a kid. My mom has it on VHS; I should consider upgrading it to a DVD. And into my Christmas collection. ;)
And third, I finished watching all of Merlin a week or so ago. AWESOME! Thanks for the push to get around to it. So worth it!
P.S. Did the card I sent ever arrive?

Date: 2009-01-17 07:55 pm (UTC)2. I absolutely loved The Muppet Christmas Carol! I mean, I love that novel in the first place but I really loved the way it was done. Definitely one of my favourite Christmas film now *nods*
Hee so happy you liked Merlin! You're very welcome, of course :-)
And omg! I hadn't really checked my mailbox the past week - parcels are always sent to my parents' because my mailbox is quite small - but I finally did it and yes, yes, it arrived! Thank you *kisses*

And yeah, Leverage is...not exactly quality TV, but it does have Christian Kane and I like Parker rather a lot, so I'm quite happy watching it (though last week's ep made me *facepalm* more that a little).

Date: 2009-01-17 07:58 pm (UTC)I'm afraid even Christian Kane isn't enough... I just couldn't find a character to root for *pout* Also, and on a Very Shallow Note, I hate Chris Kane's haircut omg! That didn't help either lol

Date: 2009-01-13 02:54 am (UTC)Did you hear that Richard Burgi will appear on Nip/Tuck this season? Apparently the description for the actor requires nudity and comfort with racey scenes. I will return to Nip/Tuck for one more episode.
Try Leverage again. I was not overly impressed with the pilot either. It was too busy and not near as clever as it thought it was. The plots are never terribly clever, but the characters grow on you. There is an episode where we learn that Nate (Tim Hutton's character) was in seminary school and his best friend (a priest played by D.B. Sweeney) is in need of their help. Confession is so HOT! The actress lady from the Brit series Coupling is great! There is an SPN connection. The computer tech guy Harrdick was the soldier who stabbed Sam in the back. He is great on Leverage though. Most are going crazy for Chris. I enjoy it. I wish the bad guys weren't so bad and the plots had a bit more depth, but it is something that I am watching now. I think it will improve.

Date: 2009-01-17 08:01 pm (UTC)I might give it another go but I usually find a character to like right away, so the fact that I didn't doesn't bode well *pout*
And, yes, I was like 'it's Jake'! Just love it when shows collide :-)

Date: 2009-01-17 08:08 pm (UTC)So far Cookie has managed to avoid the bug so let's hope she'll stay in good health. I think I'd feel a little guilty if she got sick!
