The Good: pretty much the whole weekend?

We spent all of Friday night watching MCR media. If it had MyChem in it? It was good for us! Interviews, video clips, the infamous Life on the Murder Scene, whatever was MCR related - even from afar, like the episode of LA Ink with Frank.

We basically basked in MCR's awesomeness from around 8.45 PM to 3.00 AM. Rosie was a warrior - you can ask her whatever you want about MyChem, she'll probably know the answer, even though she didn't know a thing about them before Friday afternoon.

Saturday was pretty much dedicated to shopping and strolling all around Lyon. The weather was so nice! Sunny and warm - hot, even. In the evening we went to the yummiest Japanese restaurant I've ever been to. From the decor to the food, it was pretty much perfect.

Sunday meant the market in the morning followed with the lazying around at Starbucks.

The Bad: the painful trauma that was Twilight.

After the restaurant, we headed to Rosie's, and Jem made us watch Twilight. As it goes, she'd been talking about it for ever and we wanted to be good friends and watch it with her... I think we all learnt a valuable lesson that night; wanting to please your friends? Is not always a good idea!

Most.Awful.Film.Ever. I'm not even joking. Some films are so bad they turn out good, right? This one was just... bad. Look, I don't even have the words, ok? Jem kept telling us that we'd feel differently if we'd seen it in the right setting, ie in a theater on the big screen and, yeah, I guess we would - I'd be even more upset to have paid for it! The only redeemable thing about the film is that it ends at one point? And even that, it certainly takes its time! Nothing happens in Twilight! Even Bella's sentences never finish! No, wait, there is something; a lot of sighing and a lot of cringe-worthy bad acting.

We came to the conclusion that the only way to watch that film is with your mates, because you can make up your own dialogues and run your own commentary all along. Otherwise, the badness would kill you. Dead.

Yay Lyon! I absolutely loved the city, even though the weather was miserable while Lisa and I were there. Did you go to the markets along the Saone? (At least I think that's which river I was near...along the west side of the presqu'ile)

Good to hear more scathing reviews about Twilight. I was beginning to think I needed to give it a chance! lol

Such a pity you went there when the weather didn't want to cooperate!

That's the one, yes, the art market? We saw some lovely things; though there were fewer stalls than in summer. Still, I always enjoy markets...

Honestly, I wouldn't reccommend Twilight to anyone, unless they were already a fan of the novels to start with - except if they were, they wouldn't wait to hear my opinion about it lol

But if someone asks me, well, yes, I'll tell them how awful it was.

I loved that art market! There were so many paintings that I wanted to scoop up and take home with me. So cool.

Oh the horror of Twilight...lol

I saw Twilight in the cinema and felt just like you did. I waited and waited for the plot to start and it never did.

I really feel sorry for those who actually paid for it - except for the fans, obviously.

I waited and waited for the plot to start and it never did.

We were all waiting too. I mean, something was bound to happen sooner or later, right? Except - wrong because it never did!

Ahaha, that is so true. :D

Actually, I kinda had fun watching the movie (definitely not in a theater) because I kept picturing how awful the actors must have felt doing that (I mean, we already know exactly how Robert Pattinson feels about anything to do with Twilight) and apparently I was in a bit of a bitchy mood, so that amused me. Plus, Kristen Stewart is really pretty.

But yeah, it is a bad, bad movie...and yet, somehow, it still manages to be better than the books. ;)

Omg, I feel sorry for the actors! Then again, if they were good actors to begin with, maybe they could have brought something to the film? Like, we did enjoy Alice, for instance.

Oh and we really liked James too, but only because he wanted to kill Bela, so I'm not sure it really counts? lol

But yeah, it is a bad, bad movie...and yet, somehow, it still manages to be better than the books. ;)

That... is almost scary!

Twilight *shudders* The one movie that I will gladly miss. A friend of mine is trying to convince me to watch it but no, just no. I very much prefer hot guys in hot racing cars!

Sam and GD wanted to go see it at the cinema back when it was released but I just had no interest for it so I declined. In the end, they couldn't go, anyway, which they're happy about now.

We probably need an icon to show we've survived watching Twilight, or something.

You mean I shouldn't even attempt to watch it on my own?
So you, being a really good friend, won't mind keeping me company while I watch it? :D

you know I kept saying how you and I almost went to see it together, but now I'm glad we didn't. Seriously, we'll blame that decision on like, temporary insanity and drunkenness, ok?

Drunkenness totally works for me! lol

Hmm, yeah, ok, maybe drunkenness will work, if you really can't friends to watch it with you. Guess it is an alternative.

So you, being a really good friend, won't mind keeping me company while I watch it? :D

See, that's what I sorta meant. If you were a really good friend, you wouldn't say such a thing to me!

Noooooooooo Babycakes, don't watch it on your own! For your own sanity, just be a wuss and wait to have people with you when doing so... if you really want to watch Twilight, anyway, which, I don't know why you would want to do that? ;-)

Omg, I'm so mean, I should stop lol Jem is, well, a gem not to have defriended the lot of us! I'm happy for those who enjoyed the film. I just didn't and can't really get over the fact that I thought it was such a crappy bit of film? In case it wasn't clear enough?

You mean you weren't dazzled by Edward?! You don't think Edward and Bella make the most perfectly amazing and dynamic couple in the history of eternity?! You didn't burst into happy tears when they danced together at prom all the while wistfully wishing to find a wonderful vampire not-boy of your very own?! I am crushed!

::laughs:: No, I agree--Twilight is such a SNOOZEFEST. And why do all the boys fawn over Bella? She has no personality! I kept laughing when I probably wasn't meant to, as well.

Date: 2009-04-08 05:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
Unbelievable, right? I'm sure some people are, like, writing a thesis on us and how odd it is that we didn't fall under Twilight's 'charm'. It kinda hurts me to use 'twilight' and 'charm' in the same sentence, I'll have to say *eg*

And why do all the boys fawn over Bella? She has no personality!

Omg I know! But then it might mean that for a woman to have all the boys falling for her, she needs to have the personality of a wet noodle? I just don't know, mate! I prefer not thinking about it, actually *nodnod*

Uh funny ? For me it's the opposite. I didn't want to see twilight, but I wanted to go out that night, and it was almost the only movie "watchable" in theatres that day (I hate french movies, and there were a lot at that time). Anyway, it turns out that we were pleased by the movie, not that bad, a nice surprise... But yeah it's true that it was I think better to see it on the big screen...

Date: 2009-04-08 05:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
I can't even say I expected anything of the film... which is why I was surprised to realise it was even worse than what I not!expected.

Like, some films exceed expectations and that one... does the exact same opposite. Impressive.

But it still makes us laugh several days later, so there is that :-)

From what I heard, the novels (from two fans, it's not even my bias talking) are even worse, so I guess in a weird way it might be better? Only I'm not sure it's such a good thing lol

All I know is that I'll never read the books. And I know one should never say 'never' but I'm taking the risk and saying it *nodnod*

Hehe, I've heard reading the books is like going to McDonalds. It was a great analogy. Still not going to read them though. Someone tried to sell them to me as "teenage vampire romance novels." Been there, read that, not interested.

*grins* Now I shall poise with a camera in case you ever break and read them!

TWILIGHT ROOLS!

I'm making you all icons, I swear, lol. And I am pretty darn sure that seating comfortably and watching it on a proper screen (like, a TV screen, not movie screen) instead of a crappy tiny computer screen would have been better. Also, c'est hyper bien cadré!!!! ;-p
