So Inception was (finally!!) seen yesterday \o/ At last! I really enjoyed it and was completely smitten with the whole cast. I was expecting to love DiCaprio and Gordon-Levitt's characters - which I did - but the other actors/characters were a very pleasant surprise. Eames especially. But I loved them all, from Yusuf to Ariadne passing by Saito. And let's not forget Robert Fischer! Anyway, mucho love for the whole cast, like I said.

After the cinema I went to see my sister and goddaughter and I suppose one day I'll get used to her calling me "marraine", but in the meantime I get that little rush of pleasure whenever I hear her toddler voice calling me that.

So that was yesterday. Today I pretty much did nothing: I read and napped and read fic and watched some tv. That's it. I didn't even set a foot outside.

Oh, and the book I read? Dead to the world by Charlaine Harris. I blame the editors for having put Eric Northman on the cover, that just wasn't fair! I can't say I liked it but I didn't hate it either and I read it till the end so it could have been worse. I don't think I'll read any of the other novels in the series... though I'm not 100% against it per se. And sometimes you're just in the mood for an easy and fast read.

Some passages were seriously ridiculous, though. : (shower scene) "(he) began to wash my arms, raising each in turn to stroke my armpit, down to my side, never touching my breasts, which were practically quivering like puppies who wanted to be petted. I repeat "breasts, which were practically quivering like puppies who wanted to be petted." Who says stuff like that? Well, Charlaine Harris, apparently. Or her characters. After reading something like this, you just want to rush to your Delicious account and find yourself a scorching hot fic and forget all about breasts that quiver like puppies wanting to get petted.

I do agree, some of Harris's sex descriptions are absurd. No question there!

I was very unimpressed with her most recent novel. But I have enjoyed the whole series. :)

I was kinda unimpressed with that book but I couldn't help imagine tvtb!Eric all amnesiac and vunlerable... Alexander Skarsgård would absolutely nail it!

I can't really keep the series straight anymore because each title has "Dead" in it. But I have the generally plot line somewhere in my skull. And the book where Eric has lost his memory? OMG I can't wait to see that! True Blood has kept with the general arc of the books, so I'm hoping for Bill to hit the door soon. :)

ETA: I forgot to mention! If I recall correctly, Harris is from a severely Christian community. So that explains her crazy, overly sexual story lines as well as her weird sex scenes. ;)

I just watched 3x08 and I recognised some stuff from the book in question so maybe?? *fingers crossed*

The TB books are popcorn reading, but I've enjoyed them all. Even if Bill gets on my last nerve at times.

J'ai été super déçue qu'ils se remettent ensemble comme ça, je suis bien d'accord. Par contre, je dois quand même avouer que leur scène était assez hot ; voir toppy!Sookie, c'était quand même bien sympathique !

Mais surtout, évidemment, la scène d'Eric, quoi. Canon slash for the win, dude!

Et ! La scène que j'espérais aussi, la réconciliation entre Jesus et Lafayette, avec leur baiser trop sexy pour couronner la chose.

THANK YOU, HBO! Même si, bon, je leur en veux pour le coup de Bill, évidemment. Mais j'ai bien peur qu'on puisse jamais sans débarrasser *sigh*

Most people I know have blown through the Sookie books in record time. My sis has read everything currently out now by Harris. It is like you mention, quick entertaining reads. There are better books in the series. The one where they go to the vampire convention and the ones immediately before and after are the best. Harris does write better characters. I am currently reading her Shakespeare series. There is no supernatural element to them. There is another supernatural series with Harper Connelly that is much better than Sookie. Harper is a closed series. She was struck by lightening as a teenager and can sense the presence of the dead. She can see the last moments of their death and how they died. I really enjoyed Harper.

I'm not sure I'll want to try more of her writing, to be honest. From what I'd heard/read about it, it's not really my cup of tea.

I tried Dead to the world because after falling for the show show, I was a bit curious about the book series and I thought it'd hurt less if I tried one with Eric in the summary and all. I was unimpressed by what I read, though I'll admit that I'd love to see the Eric-plot of Dead to the world exploited in the show because I just know that Alex Skarsgard would absolutely nail it!
