castalieThe Walking Dead 1x02 has been watched tonight. I could have done it yesterday except that Miss G wasn't home and she forbade me to watch it without her. Apparently, it amuses her a lot to see me freak out and squeal in fright and hide behind pillows. As it happens, the second episode was slightly less stressful than the premiere was. Not that it wasn't as good, though, but I almost didn't hid behind aforementioned pillows (or hands) at all. Take that, Mocking Miss G!
After that, some more Merlin it was. Back to series 2 for tonight, because chronological order is so overrated! [It's the very last scene of "Lady of the Lake" and awwww, such a sweet moment! ♥]
Changing the subject; I've had a very satisfactory day at work today. I've felt very accomplished. Also very grateful to fandom. Turns out I had to do some HTML tweaking for one of my projects and the only reason why I decided to learn some basic HTML Back in the Day was because of my fics and Geocities. So thank you fandom and then later LJ for making me learn something that is now useful in my job. Actually, I'm glad I'm the kind of geek who got interested in blogs and social networks of different persuasions because that's also something that I now use for professional reasons. It actually amuses my parents to no end "So your hobbies are now part of your job? Who'd have thought?" Not me, dude. But I'm definitely not complaining!
Oh! And speaking of the parental unit. My dad managed to get four free tickets for Bharati thanks to a guy he knows. I'm absolutely thrilled because we've been wanting to bring my mother to that show for the longest time and we're finally going to do it \o/

<g> I'm kind of the opposite. HTML is useful for LJ and AO3 and ASR3, but it means I know enough to realize that the programs we are required to use for keeping our Special Ed school records and for reporting the therapy of our Medicaid-eligible students are Pieces. Of. Crap. I know they could be so much more user-friendly, but the developers don't have to use them, and don't give a damn. When both programs were introduced -- years apart -- the users were invited to make suggestions for improvement. I submitted several each time. You can guess how many showed up in the programs. (Any number greater than 0 is too high.)
I should have known when my first suggestion with the first program was 'make the font of the printouts larger'. The response was that it was 'too difficult' to do. Buh? <font="whatever" size="x"> Maybe it has to be coded for each page (about 18 in that program), but still... I can't adequately express my rage and frustration. And nothing to do but suck it up and deal. *pouts*
But, it's great that your job is going so good. Wishing you much success ahead.

Lol I know, it took me some time before I worked up the courage to watch it too... and it helped that I wasn't alone! It is worth it, though, because I really like the story.

Of course, being far from the screen and needing a new glasses prescription I didn't see on which channel it's going to be, but - Merlin, in my metro and possibly on my TV! That was a nice thing to see. :)

Date: 2010-11-12 10:26 am (UTC)Merlin on your tv! Nice :-) We've had Merlin on French!tv but not on free channels so far so I couldn't try it. But I think it's coming soon so I'll give it a try. Though I was told by those who saw the French version that the dubbing wasn't really that good, in that the voices they picked seemed at odds with "our" Merlin and Arthur. It happens sometimes. And it sucks when it does because it's near impossible to get into the show because of it. Oh, well, it can't work for everyone all the time, right?
