SG: Atlantis - Hide and Seek
Aug. 12th, 2004 03:56 pmJust watched Hide and Seek - McKay is such a drama queen! And I love drama queens, no wonder I'm rooting for this character.
We start Hide and Seek with my OTP - I decided it boded well for the rest of the episode. You know who Dr Beckett sorta reminds me of? Dr McCoy, only he has Scotty's accent of course - though I don't remember Scotty ever having that thick of a Scottish accent? I should check my ST:TOS tapes *ponders*
Anyway...
I'm really enjoying the characters - primary or secondary. For instance --and let's hope I'm not mixing characters or names because I'm not sure about those two, as much I understand what is being said, I sometimes have trouble with names, I have to admit-- Halling who is such a great dad and Control Room Guy --huh Dr Grodin?-- who seems really interesting too. I really like them. Is Halling going to die? I sure hope not *is worried*
I'm liking Sheppard more and more - I love how great with the kids he is, and how endearing he can be with his enthusiasm and his boyish behaviour. He really acts like a little boy sometimes - which brings the question, are little boys allowed to lead teams in dangerous environments? Just kidding *throws hands in surrender* He's nice all right *g* Weir is already rocking my world, I love her... and incidentally I love her voice too, I sorta melt each time she speaks *g* I'm liking Teyla a bit more already but Ford? He's really in the background for me. I'd forget about him to tell the truth...
Beckett and McKay are still at the top of the list though and I don't see them losing their places anytime soon. McKay is like the character will all the flaws you can't help loving because of his flaws - and I know it's not true and just a personal opinion and that what I'm saying actually goes for people who you know, love him, because I actually saw some McKay hating going around and people hate him for the exact same reason I love him lol He's a drama queen for once, he's irritating at times and sarcastic, not very patient with others or others' ideas to say the least and he's also a bit of a coward when he wants to... or maybe he's just being really cautious and he likes his situation as it is, ie when he's alive thank you very much and seriously you can't fault him for that. But when you need him, he's right there, so really he's a great character. I love him to pieces *g* Somehow though I think I'd love Beckett a tad more but we don't see the good ol' doctor enough as opposed to McKay, so Rodney is the one I'm talking about more *g* Oh let's just say I love them both equally, all right? Thanks *bows*
Something that amused me? Look at the SG teams who --do we need be reminded-- have been here for a couple of days only already deciding they know everything better than anyone else and that they don't need to share their sooper sekrits decisions. But hey after all, even though the Athosians have been fighting against the Wraith and surviving on their own without anybody's help just fine for ever, they're still aliens and technologically inferior so it counts, right? How American of them, really. No offense, and I know it's for the plot plus there're different nations represented or supposed to be represented anyway blah blah blah... I'm just saying it amused me *blinks innocently* Which is the reason why I cheered so much when Teyla gave them the solution - ah, take that! Native Girl is actually going to save your collective asses, which is also the reason why I was a bit disappointed when the plan started to backfire on them but it wasn't her fault really, she'd still outsmarted everyone thank you very much... and Weir thanked her too, so I was happy. And anyway that's when MCKAY entered the game so I forgave everyonekinda - by then, I was cheering even louder because dude McKay was playing hero! DramaQueen-a-Bit-on-the-Cowardly-Side!Rodney was showing he's not a coward at all, just playing one. You go, Rodney!
And on a side note, how sweet of Sheppard when he explained that McKay had passed out - it cracked me up lol
Yes, me still liking Atlantis *g*
ETA: YAY! Jim and Blair are back in my mood theme *hugs the hell out of them* Thanks, Merrin.

Date: 2004-08-12 08:49 am (UTC)One thing you seem to have missed, the Athosians haven't lived in Atlantis before, they're refugees from the first 'gate mission/Wraith attack. I do think Weir is kinda dismissive of them in general though.
*B
Rodney McKay: Genius IQ. Hypoglycemic. Doctorate in Astrophysics. Deadly Citrus Allergy. No Social Skills Whatsoever. Hero.

Date: 2004-08-12 08:59 am (UTC)To be honest, I know I must have missed something because without subtitles I do sometimes miss important stuff... and I sometimes need to watch the episode a second or a third time --oh the chore NOT-- to grasp what I didn't understand the firs-- *wide eyes* OMG! No wait! You're right... they're refugees *bangs head on the desk* Sheppard brought them here via the gate... man, I'd totally forgot that, yes. I'll edit my post methinks... but like you said, Weir is still in a pretty dismissful mood.
Thanks *g*

Date: 2004-08-12 09:11 am (UTC)I can believe there are McKay haters out there, but poo on them. I adore Rodney beyond words.
This fandom is rather special for me b/c it's one of very few where I love both characters in my OTP pretty much equally. Not sure I could choose b/w Carson and Rodney.

Date: 2004-08-12 02:36 pm (UTC)I see what you mean - I think I have a slight preference for Carson myself but saying so seems a betrayal of McKay so I really think I'll try and keep the love on the same level for those two lol

Date: 2004-08-13 08:33 pm (UTC)Carson is cuter in my eyes, but I do find Rodney physically attractive in his way. Maybe it's just me :) Both of them together? Woo, hot.
Nice to meet you, btw. Castalie and Castalia, that's gotta be a nifty coincidence *g*

Date: 2004-08-14 02:26 am (UTC)And nice to meet you too, I saw you friended me back *g* And yes, I smiled when I saw your name the first time, I thought it was a nice coincidence - then again, didn't we already establish that great minds think alike? lol

Date: 2004-08-14 06:19 pm (UTC)It's nice to have some Atlantis people on my flist. So where'd you come up with your name? Mine comes from Greek mythology, the nymph who got the Castalian Spring at the base of Mt. Parnassus named after her.

Date: 2004-08-15 02:13 am (UTC)And that's why I was talking about coincidence - because we actually have the same origins for our pseudos lol Only I picked the French version of the name *g*

Date: 2004-08-12 05:29 pm (UTC)Annnnd, Debbie told this morning that PetFly is being sued by a French gentlemen who wrote a series [?] of books about a CIA agent who was named Jim and had advanced senses, do you know anything about that?
no subject
Date: 2004-08-13 12:49 am (UTC)Well he's not French but Corsican and believe me, it makes all the difference in the world, but I get your point lol To tell the truth, I deleted all the mails I saw that were related to that matter but this guy claims he was the one who invented the concept of a man with enhanced senses having a guide to help him with it and that he wrote a whole series about it... it's been said that if the DVDs still hadn't came out it's because of this affair - that PetFly doesn't want to risk real huge problems.

Date: 2004-08-14 11:07 am (UTC)Ahh, Corsican, I agree that does make a difference. I guess the DVDs are just never going to happen.

Date: 2004-08-14 11:11 am (UTC)I'm afraid the letter made me laugh. We've been lied to? I missed the memo, I guess *g* I agree that the spoilers for Threads, should they end up being true, are badfic material and laughing stock, but I really think this letter is going too far, I thought it was a tad riduculous.
Hey, are you going to join, then? *eg*
Noooo, we have to keep faith! We'll get the DVDs one day - and I mean real DVDs with extras and everything *prays*

Date: 2004-08-14 11:24 am (UTC)Lied to? I missed that part. Eh, I just hate Jack and Sam with an undying passion, miss liking Sam, and hate that they seem to be disrespecting Daniel AGAIN. Boy needs to go AP on everyone. I figure this is another, oh! end of show! Doing retarded things! Except oops, ninth season! We suck!
I'm still voting for stupid end of series thing to be Jack and Daniel. Or hell, if you must hook up the ewwwww that is Sam and Jack. [chemistry? Those two? Bwhaha! couples aren't allowed to have that anymore.] then I get Teal'c and Daniel. Yes, I'm serious. CJ would do it. You know he would be dying the whole time. Chasing MS around...It would be awesome and tramitize MS. I like that plan.
No, no joinging. No more fan campaigns. We brought Roswell back for a third season, we shouldn't have done that.
DVDs with certain extras. MUST be on there. Need molesting and making-out. NEED.

Date: 2004-08-15 02:41 pm (UTC)I'm not blaming it on my slasherhood either because I didn't start out as a J/D shipper so anything I saw was just there. And seriously, I'm not hallucinating the molesting/staring/line finishing/saying things at the same time/actors joking about the gayness of the characters/etc...
Shows should possibly stop fanwanking.
