Feb. 15th, 2011 01:14 pmSo I was supposed to work on something during my lunch break and had to watch Cookie and her cousin and nephew leave for a Chinese restaurant nearby, except I can't do anything because the software isn't responding so I declined the offer to join them for nothing. And now Cookie isn't answering her phone so I can't ask her where they went #Fail And because my coworkers left early for the cafeteria, I can't join them either #DoubleFail Ok, then, guess I'll have a classic jambon beurre sandwich and have LJ keep me company instead ;-) Ha, aren't you happy I update my journal? I'm sure you were dying to know what I was doing for lunch lol
Anyway. Let's talk fannish to balance things out. Is anyone else watching Outcasts? Cookie and I have started watching the show (we're up to 1x02 so I don't know if we're up-to-date or behind one episode? Will check tonight when I get home). I'm getting into it nicely. Nothing to the extent of Misfits, admittedly, but I'm enjoying the plots. Plus, I have a soft spot for that kind of storyline: humans colonising a planet after leaving Earth and building a new society. I love the themes that go along with that kind of plot: the hope for something different, something better, and the disillusions when people realise they're making the same mistakes all over again. The second episode in particular was all about the disappointments one has to face when realising that mistakes seem to just wait to be made all over again: with Cass having blood on his hands again and getting a reminder of a past he obviously wanted to forget or Fleur and her heartfelt "I thought this place would be different". She sounded so genuine, so upset. It'd be disappointing, all right, to realise that things are just the same everywhere - as if some things just can't be escaped. But, hey, Carpathia wasn't named Utopia, after all.
Something else that is fun with Brit shows is how you're always playing Recognise the Actor - Being Human! Life on Mars! Ugly Betty, too! - that one was unexpected - etc.
And speaking of tv and enthusiasm, I've seen a couple people on my flist falling for White Collar the past week and this delights me to no end. I wanted to tell them "what took you so long, mates, omg??" but better late than never \o/ Also, because those two are also fic writers, I'm hoping we might get some new blood here as well? #NoPressureAtAll Ok, ok, I'm being greedy, I'll shut up now ;-) In any case, it's always so sweet seeing new fans discovering a show you're in love with *cooes at them*

Date: 2011-02-15 01:10 pm (UTC)L&O UK is awesome ! I need to catch up but I'm confused by the series numbering (I saw the first 7 of series one but the second half was transformed into series 2 and I think s2 is now s3 and 4 ? CONFUSED.).

Date: 2011-02-15 02:13 pm (UTC)I know the feeling! It's been like that ever since I watched the promo. And I must say this seconod part of the second season is bringing the glee even higher ♥
my squee for it has also re-energised my TS squee
Lol Funny that. I'm sure your fellow TS-fans must be reassured to know you're not "leaving" the fandom with the new shiny ;-) Oh! Know what? I just had some xover thoughts just now with Neal and Peter as a pair of Sentinel/Guide too; I think I could see Neal as the Sentinel - he's definitely good with details, and his love for painting and sculpting could also be explained by a heightened sense of touch, he's definitely a sensual being. It could also explain (in addition to his high intelligence, I mean) why he could be ahead of the police for so long (and Peter)... as well as explain the deep bond between them both. As for Peter, he'd make a great guide, always so concerned for him and wanting only the best for a man he feels is wasting his talents and intelligence - he'd be guiding him in more ways than one!

Date: 2011-02-15 07:22 pm (UTC)There will definitely be fic from me - I've already started one, and have two more plots running round my head. I'm currently planning a long weekend away in a couple of weeks - five days away on my own with nothing but my White Collar DVDs and a notebook... *eg* I can't wait!!
Also, just so you know, this is all Your Fault (TM). It was your squeeing over White Collar alone that got me to go and check it out, after your recommendation that Supernatural was One To Watch turned out to be spot on. You are now officially my pimping guru for amazing TV. :-)

Date: 2011-02-17 09:23 pm (UTC)So happy to hear it inspired you to write again, what good news! Incidentally, your weekend away sounds like a great idea. Peace and quiet and the muse to keep you company :-)
Lol Pimping shows (even without doing it consciously) is one of my pleasures in life, so I'm totally taking responsibility for you falling for WhiCo (and SPN before that) and enjoying the results!

Date: 2011-02-17 09:27 pm (UTC)LOL He is, isn't he? I've read some fics that had Peter spank him and enjoyed them nicely. There should be more, I say! Then again, I think there should always be more spanking fics, period.
I haven't had any inclination to read or write White Collar fic.
Too bad, I can totally imagine some Neal-gets-spanked stories written by you :-p
I adore Mozzie
As you should, he's awesome ♥
