Today was hot: 37°/99F under shade - 44°C/111F under the sun. H.o.t! Since we can't properly open the windows in our office and AC is kinda non-existent in France, I'll let you imagine the kind of hell my workplace turned out to be today. First thing I did when I got home was take a cold shower. Cold showers are my favourite things at the moment :-)

Hope you had a good weekend, flist? Cookie and I had the most self-indulgent day yesterday. We basically didn't leave the bed until 8.00PM. Or only to take a cold shower (yes, I'm like a broken record when it comes to shower these days but it's not my fault it started getting really hot this weekend!) and to gather food. We had leftover pizza from the little party we'd had on Sunday with The Esu and my cousins, ice cream, chocolate, our laptops, XMFC fics and fanvids in abundance - we didn't need anything else! It was wonderfully cool in the bedroom (which is also why we remained there, it was too hot elsewhere) and just so relaxing. I actually felt asleep at one point. Pure bliss ♥

I mentioned XMFC fanvids above; someone posted a new one based on a French song - not just in French but by a (very famous here) French artist, too. It was sorta odd watching a vid with a French "narrator" but it worked really well. As I keep saying, I love it when vidder pick a song/artist I wouldn't have associated with the fandom they're vidding. A bit like Til the World Ends that I recc'ed in a previous entry; I wouldn't have thought of Britney Spears as an artist that could be used for XMFC but it worked!

PS: got a mail from another of my teachers and I got another 85% \o/ Go me! Working like mad on academic papers does give good results, who would have thought? lol

Sounds like a lovely way to spend a Sunday. I can't remember the last time we spent an entire Sunday in our PJ's. Hm, next Saturday of Sunday with bad weather and I'm so going to do that. Taking a day off from it all. I seem to have trouble doing so when it's nice outside though.

Yesterday was horror in my car! I had to get a raincoat for Alby (since today he's at an amusement park and they predict thunder and hail) so we spent half an hour in my car and Roeland was soaking wet by the time we got home. I got him out of his clothes and into the bath. Got Alby into a bath as well (his father had dressed him in a long jeans and a long-sleeved shirt, which was in a fabric close to 'flanel', poor kid was sweating like crazy). And then had no time to take a proper shower myself. But at least with our window open, it was not too hot to sleep :P

As soon as I have this part of my translations typed up, I'm taking a few evenings off and spending some time checking out all those vids ;)

I couldn't remember the last time we really stayed home and did nothing, much less stayed in bed and did nothing. It felt so good!

Getting home and taking a shower has been the highlight of my day the past few days, it's been so ridiculous hot! And today it was quite humid too, a deadly combo.

Me again. You'll start to think I'm some kind of stalker. Well, I'm sitting behind my computer, typing some translations and then I suddenly think, screw this and next thing I know, I'm checking out these vids. I mean, I couldn't help myself, I swear!

Anyway, I really like the Mylène Farmer one. I didn't know this song by her and really loved it. And the vid was very nicely done too, in some places it really fit the lyrics beautifully. And Erik is so going to be my favourite character, I think he's just so yummy!

Now I do two things, hurry to type more so I can watch the rest of the vids (interviews and such - but will be for Thursday at the earliest I'm afraid) and download some Mylène Farmer :P

Wow that is HOT for France! Denver is supposed to get up to nearly 100F tomorrow; I am so thankful I have AC when I need it!

I grew up without AC and it's obviously possible to do so, but man, it's nice to have it on those hot days!

Especially as we're talking about Paris and its suburb here, that was kinda ridiculous. Nowhere near the Canicule we had in 2003 but three days in a row of this heat and we're all ready to stay hidden in our homes, shutters closed.

I wish we had more AC around here, especially as summers have gotten hotter the past few years. Public transport, in particular, is really difficult when it's that hot.

I know we don't get temperatures that high as often as many other countries, but I'd love AC for when we do. I was boiling two days ago.

Thank you! As I was telling Terri above, so far this semester my average is 80% and I'm really starting to believe I can do it. It's a wonderful feeling, I'll admit :-) I just need to do well on the thesis now, that'll be the deal breaker.
