Long time no see, flist.
I'm alone in the office and trying to single-handedly solve IT problems that I'm not supposed to be solving in the first place. My department is at war with the IT department : considering we're the ICT for Education department, it almost sounds like a civil war, it's getting messy, guys. Also, I'm done being nice, I think we've been way too diplomatic thus far and it hasn't led us anywhere. This morning, when dealing with one of our sworn enemies, I kept thinking of Jeremy Renner's SNL monologue and was all "I'm gonna shoot somebody... someone like you!" Thank you, JRen, for giving me the perfect soundtrack for when I'm in a rage and wish I could kill someone with my brain (see what I did there? Double pop culture reference \o/)
Anyway!
Hey, guess what I did recently that I'd never done before? I've met with someone I didn't know from Adam, ie the LJ friend of an LJ friend who was visiting Paris for a couple of days. I managed to not only speak to her but actually speak in English, out loud, to someone, which, if you knew me IRL, you'd know how extraordinary that is. And. I almost collapsed! Tuesday, on my way to work, on the train! Basically, I had a vasovagal episode, which means it was nothing serious at all, but since it was the very first time something like this happened to me I was all "OMG I'M GOING TO FAINT, NO WAIT, I'M FAINTING!" - except for how I didn't really have time to think anything for realz but you know what I mean. I was this close but I managed to stay conscious. I think it's all thanks to Cookie who was with me at the time, I had no reason to panic because Girlfriend Extraordinaire was there with me so I just quietly almost-collapsed before she took me home and actually stayed with me the whole day *loves on girlfriend like whoa*
Exciting start of the week, don't you think?
Apart from that, I had a lovely weekend in Tours, during which lots of delicious food was consumed (including home-made, go us!) and The West Wing was discovered!
greedy_dancer and
french_hobbit talked about it passionately (as per usual when talking about that show) during dinner on Friday and
moimoietmoi and I decided it was time we gave it a try. So we watched the pilot and then the second episode and then amid the things we'd planned on doing during the weekend, we managed to squeeze five episodes between Saturday night and Sunday morning. I now know why they're always talking about TWW with hearts in their eyes :-) I'm seeing the girls tonight and I'm always delighted to see them but I'm also quite impatient to have GD lend me the boxsets of s1 and s2 #Gimme.

Date: 2012-11-22 10:14 pm (UTC)That fainting episode sounds no fun at all. Hopefully it was a one-off occurence and that it won't happen again.
Food!!

Date: 2012-11-24 09:37 am (UTC)It really wasn't but at least it was nothing, know what I mean? I don't like the idea of those fainting episodes being completely impossible to predict because, basically, nothing and anything can cause them but at least it's not a condition nor is it the sign of an illness... it's just extremely annoying! And hopefully it was a one time thing #FingersCrossed And thank you :-)

Date: 2012-11-24 02:43 pm (UTC)Thank you for meeting up with Elz, and I'm glad it went well! You've every right to be proud. :)
I hope the fainting episode the next day is not related! :O I'm really glad Cookie was with you, you have the best girlfriend. *hugs both*
*sends darts poisoned with computer viruses to the Sworn Enemy* Better not mess with our Mouse, dude or dudette.
(To quote a somewhat famous rock band, "what's so civil about war, anyway?")
*hugs again*

Date: 2012-11-25 08:57 pm (UTC)You're welcome. As for how well it went, well, I knew it went fine from my side, I can only hope she had a good time!
No, the fainting episode had nothing to do with it, promise ;) Those vasovagal episodes happen due to nothing and everything, apparently. And I agree, I do have the best girlfriend ♥
I knew I could count on you ♥
*hugs tight*
