My keyboard decided to stop cooperating last night and was quite stubborn about it so I started writing this entry but gave up after a while, I'm taking advantage of a little break between two work meetings to post it. Except I didn't have time to post earlier either, which is why I'm doing it tonight, even though Keyboard is still trying to driving me crazy. Wtf keyboard!

I had a nice week-end, despite my proctoring an exam on Saturday. I didn't have to be at work early though and it only lasted two hours so it wasn't that traumatising. Afterwards I spent some time with my parents and in the evening I got home and chilled; I read a bit (I finally resumed my reading of A Storm of Swords \o/) and then finished watching The Walking Dead s2. TWD is an oddity as far as I'm concerned; I keep ranting about the role of most of the female characters in the narrative - or the lack thereof - none of the twists surprised me - so far? - and yet I ask for more and I keep watching #DamnYouTWD I do have lines, though, and I think I'll stop watching if Lori and/or Carol end up being the only women left in the group.

Then Sunday morning was spent reading more of ASoS (more reading yay!) and catching up with [livejournal.com profile] hobbit_kink (more kinky stories yay!). In the afternoon was our annual FP New Year Afternoon Tea at SAM's, which was lovely, as usual. Her BF did the baking and treated us with lamala and Kaiserschmarrn (respectively Alsatian and Austrian cakes). Twas delicious.

Then on our way back home, Cookie and I had to travel with some "interesting" people if by "interesting" I mean "homophobic". I don't know to what extent it is discussed in foreign media but we're engaged in a very heated debate in France at the moment as we're getting closer and closer to becoming the 12th country to legalise same-sex marriage (we already have a civil union open to both heterosexual and homosexual couples but we're now talking about civil marriage). Before the bill passes, though, everyone is busy giving their opinion about it and, as you can imagine, some of the things we're hearing are far from being courteous. To use the understatement of the century.

There was a new demonstration against marriage equality yesterday. Some reports talk about 340 000 people taking the street, some about 800 000, yet some others about a million - what is certain is that they did come from all over France for it. And there was, indeed, a lot of them in the subway when Cookie and I got home. It was disturbing to face all those people and see entire families coming back from the protest, so proud and happy of what they'd accomplished. There were so many parents with their kids there - some of them very young. Sitting next to us was a family of six with one of the little boys displaying a cardboard on his back saying "made in Mommy + Daddy". Charming.

There's a pro marriage equality demonstration in two weeks, all signs point me to being there.

On a lighter note: Cookie and I saw The Hobbit again tonight \o/ [personal profile] ithiliana, we're behind you but it's our sixth viewing, still an honourable figure, right? ;-)
