Eeeeeeeeeeeeek Canal+ is going to air The L Word *dies* You can always trust C+, man, always! Boy, PinkTV must be seething. A gay network and they lost the rights to broadcast The L Word? Must be tough!

[sing song] I'm going to see my lesbian show, I'm going to see my lesbian show [/sing song]

Besides Canal+ equals original version. Well, if they still do that? Apart from Cold Case, The Simpsons and Excel Saga, I don't watch Canal+ anymore, so I don't even remember if they still air their series in English as well - movies yes, but tv series?

Speaking of which, Angels in America premieres soon. It seems that that miniseries received lots of awards? How come I never heard about it? *blink*

AND they're doing another Gay and Lesbian Night on the 20th. Seems logical - they're doing it in parallel with the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival held in Paris that will start on the 19th. Hmm, would be nice to go btw. Need to check that out.

The Angels miniseries is fantastic. The screenplay was adapted by Kushner himself, and it stars, among others, Meryl Streep, Al Pacino and Emma Thompson. And, though I don't know the actors' names, Prior and Louis are particularly good as well. It won about a bazillion Emmys, but you might not have heard about it as it was on HBO, and plenty of people don't get HBO. I didn't until very recently (and not at school. *pout*). The DVD's were just released a couple weeks ago, so Angels fever might be picking up again as more people are able to see it. It's really a fantastic series (though I've only seen Millenium, not Perestroika, stupid schedule), though really not the same as seeing it live on stage. [/theatre eletism]

Emma Thompson is, as always, brilliant in all her roles (most of the double casting in the play is carried through here). There's some really fantastic stylistic things going on as well, but I'm usually the only one who notices these things, as I'm a whore for stylism. But yeah, definately worth a look. ;)

What a great and enthusiastic review that was, thanks *g* And seeing how much you like théatre, I can imagine how you'd think it can't be the same thing as seeing it live on stage anyway. Actually, the fact that you liked the series so much even though it was an adaptation is a good point for the TV version *g*

It's mostly that some of my favorite lines were cut out. It's actually quite a bit shorter than the full play (a mere 6 hours. Heh). But I think scene for scene, it's all there. I just miss the line in the park about the guy living with his parents... Oh, never mind. :)

I just adored my school's production so much, but ours was much funnier. My theatre department seems to have a thing with making things funny. It was odd watching the miniseries after seeing our show, and going, "Oh, that's not a joke?" We like to go for the laughs, especially in serious pieces. But it's just a different experience, I guess. The miniseries is still outstanding. So... yeah. Go watch it!

In fact, there was a vid somewhere to a Seal song that was really good, and was really good before I'd even seen it. I'll have to find you the link. *searches*

Highly recommended. Extremely well done, and gives you a little sneak peek at the HBO version. Have fun!
