Dec. 6th, 2014 09:26 amThe past week I've had this strange feeling and turns out it was an itch to post to LJ! The reason is mainly fannish as I've fallen hard for a new podcast (as in it's been broadcasting for the last two months, we're only at episode 10) called Serial. Is anyone else listening to it? It's gripping; it follows a true story, the murder of an eighteen-year-old, Hae, and the conviction of her ex-boyfriend, Adnan, back in 1999. The host, Sarah Koenig, investigates and tries to understand what happens as, turns out, many things in the case appear to be a bit shady. Each week, she brings a new focus on a particular point and we follow her through her investigation.
The narrative is extremely compelling. Sarah Koenig knows how to keep her audience on their toes. What's so fascinating is the fact that it's not just her narrating the story; she shares interviews, phone calls with Adnan himself, recordings of actual interrogations back in the day, bits of recordings from the trial, she brings experts to testify and so forth and so on.
It's fascinating and a bit upsetting, obviously, because nothing is fictional here, so there was a real murder and either Adnan was wrongfully convicted and has been in prison for the past fifteen years for a crime he did not commit, which also means that the real culprit is out there, or he did commit the murder and, well, it's a bit chilling to imagine him manipulating everyone like that.
In the meantime, Sarah Koenig turns her listeners into detective assistants as you can't help but take mental notes about what was said by whom and coming up with your own theories because, man, Jay seems so shady and what if Jenn was in it too and then no, wait, this doesn't add up and omg, did Adnan really do it? It is a roller coaster, let me tell you.
So, anyway, is anyone else around here following Serial, is what I'm wondering :p
Apart from that, life is still very busy what with work and school and the rest, especially as December is the time of year when we do our Cloakroom duty and our weekends aren't exactly the most restful, although it was only for two weekends, today being the last, so it's ok :) And tomorrow we're planning on purchasing our Christmas tree and, of course, decorating it so I'm pretty excited about that <3 Pretty excited to be next week too, as Cookie and I are spending the day in Reims for a Christmas Market (FP's birthday gift <3), which is a big deal for me as I've been meaning to go to a "real" (as in, not just the small ones in Paris) Christmas Market for ages... or for ever, to be precise lol
So, yeah, life is still very busy and I'm pretty tired a lot these days but it's December! My favourite month of the year, the cold has finally come (it was cold enough they thought it might snow in Paris a couple of days ago) and I'm in a happy and festive mood :) Hope you're all doing ok as well.
