Leuchtturm contre Moleskine
Feb. 13th, 2016 12:45 amI've just found a new fandom. Well. Sorta. I've discovered the world of bullet journaling. I've watched videos over YT, looked for photos over Tumblr and Pinterest and it's quite appealing, I have to say. With all the things I have to do this year between my master's program (classes, assignments, thesis), my Italian classes, the wedding (we now have a date and a venue!), my annual weekend trip with my sister and just everything else, this could help a lot. I do have a planner which contains so much of my life already (I keep them all over the years as they're almost like little diaries) but it doesn't focus on tasks and goals as such and, Idk, I was thinking I might try to set up a bullet journal? I have my midterm exams at the beginning of the week and then I'll have some time before I have to work on my next assignments so maybe try and see whether I find inspiration? Ironically though, I'm a bit worried it's a time consuming process, although I guess it's a matter of habit and knowing how to set up your collections and all?
Do any of you keep a bullet journal?
Speaking of time and schedule, the past week has been quite productive as I kept up with everything I meant to do, including going to mass for Ash Wednesday. In my resolutions for 2016 I mentioned that I wanted to try and go to mass more often, or at least start with the "key" celebrations (well, you know what I mean), and I'm happy that I didn't miss that important time of the year (since I do Lent, I mean). The church was packed and there was such great energy all around, it's actually funny how both peaceful and energetic it is. I do love going to mass :)
Wednesday also meant Malec day or, you know, new Shadowhunters, although we waited till Thursday to watch it. Fun fact, I had the mother of headache when I got home from my Italian class that evening but watching Shadowhunters made it disappear. Cheesy and ridiculous, good for your health sometimes ;)
Still on the subject of tv, I've just downloaded Lucifer, which I've been curious about (sounded like the kind of fun show to watch to kick back and relax). And next week they're airing (the new) XFiles on French tv so I don't even need to download it, score! What with there also being a rerun of Buffy at the moment, watching both shows on the same day will be like going back in time ;)

Date: 2016-02-20 06:41 pm (UTC)You have "collections" which you refer back in an index page which helps keep track of everything that was added in the journal and makes it easy to go back to it whenever one needs to.
So in this notebook you're going to use a Monthly spread where you'll add main events, birthdays and whatnot, then a weekly spread and then a daily spread where you'll break down your to-do lists even more. Obviously, there's no obligation to use any spread, you can customise it just the way like but those are the staples of bullet journals.
You can also add notes, reminders etc. When writing down your lists, you use "keys", ie. a system to let you know what is what (task, event, notes etc.).
In addition to the montly/weekly/daily to-do lists, you can add as many "collections" as you want "The books I want to read", "The books I've read", "The countries I'm going to visit this year", "My wedding preparations", "How to save xxx€ in a year" etc.
Then there's the easthetics of bullet journal because some people use it as a creative outlet.
So anyway, it's basically a notebook that help you keep track of stuff... but in a fun and pretty way ;)
