February edition of my sorta!BookTube series ;)

Wrap-up (books I read this month):
Hogfather by Terry Pratchett: oh, that novel was absolutely delightful. It made me chuckle so many times. Death and Susan are wonderful, I loved them so <3 Actually, all the characters were just so colourful and batshit insane and funny (oh god is another favourite. As well as Albert. And the wizards. Ok, you get the picture).
All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders: a very interesting book that I enjoyed a lot. I thought there was some issues with the pace at times but nothing that took me away from the story. What I liked the most is the sense of, idk, "otherness" (for lack of a better word) that permeates the book. The events, the places are both very familiar and yet very strange, the characters so humans and yet so different. This is an atypical book. I will definitely keep an eye on her next releases :)
The Dumb House by John Burnside: a disturbing story that has a sort of dreamy quality to it. It doesn't make the events that unfold any less disturbing, though. The protagonist, the one who tells us his story, is an appalling character.
Le dernier des cinq trésors by Joris Chamblain and Aurélie Neyret. Third volume in Les carnets de Cerise. I was looking for a BD (bande dessinée) to get for my nieces and found this series. Bought the first volume for them then, while perusing the rest of said series, fell in love with the third volume and purchased it for myself. I finally read it Sunday morning, enjoyed it immensely and will borrow the rest from the girls ;)

Book haul (books I acquired or received as gifts):
Kings Rising by CS Pacat, the last volume in the Captive Prince trilogy. Cannot wait to dive in!
Le grand n'importe quoi by J.M. Erre: fun fact, I wrote the rest of this entry (what came before and after this title) on Sunday morning, before I went out, meaning I mentioned having a hard time finding a French author to read a couple of hours before going to the FNAC near us and finding this novel. As usual, the cover caught my eyes (to my defense, French covers are usually extremely boring) and the blurb definitely piqued my interest. I have high hope for this one. Fingers crossed that I found a new French author I'll enjoy, especially as he has five other books to his name.

Reading (well, you know):
1Q84 Livre 1 Avril-Juin by Haruki Murakami: two reasons for this purchase, first one because I haven't read a single novel by this author, the cover caught my eyes (yes, I'm one of "those" people) and thought "ok, then!". Second one because I never read in French and I'm trying to remedy that. Funnily (or oddly. Mostly "oddly") enough I have a hard time finding French authors I want to read (apart from those I've read when I was younger, Barjavel, Lentéric, Werber etc.) so I'm looking in the direction of translated novels that I can't read in their original languages. Murakami fits the bill.
