Bonne année !
Jan. 1st, 2018 07:51 pmFlist. Here we meet again at the very beginning of the universe! I mean, 2018. Sorry, I've been watching some more episodes of Doctor Who recently (I'm finished with series 9 and I've also watched the Christmas special that followed) and I think it got to my head ;)
So here we are... we bade farewell to 2017 and we're welcoming 2018.
Personally, 2017 was a good year: I don't think I talked about it in details - or at all, really - but my sister got out of a toxic relationship last year and is now officially divorced. My now ex-BIL has mental issues which he always refused to address and, in the end, made living with him not just unhealthy but hell and actually dangerous. The last couple of years have been tiring, stressful and upsetting, there's been a lot of fear and anger involved. Those years, I lived by the idea that it's always darkest before the dawn and things would get better - so much that I've actually been thinking of making a tattoo of it, although I'm not quite sure what kind of tattoo - even if at one point the future seemed quite bleak. Thankfully, the situation changed in 2017 and after some step backs, things took a turn for the better, which means my strong, fierce sister has started getting her life and peace back, along with my nieces, and we're all breathing and sleeping better. So even though 2017 felt like a such a shitty year for the world in general, in my small world, it was a very good year.
Onto lighter things, 2017 was also the year I got my second Masters' degree and that was such a huge satisfaction to me! ♥ As for the rest. Well, I didn't read as much as I wanted to, wasn't as healthy as I should have been... the usual! Nothing that can't be added to the NY's Resolutions list that one usually tries to stick to as long as humanly possible ;)
I hope the transition to 2018 was a lovely one. Cookie and I spent it at the theater, we went to see a production of Singin' in the Rain in Paris and it was fabulous! We got back around 11.30PM and when midnight rang, we were already in our PJs, eating the cake we'd bought in the morning and watching Singin' in the Rain on DVD. Cozy ftw \o/
Anyway. I hope 2018 is good to you all, that it pushes you to achieve new things while reminding you to be proud of what you've accomplished so far, be it something amazing or something simple, that it takes the edge off painful memories and helps you create new happy ones, that it brings you many more moments with those you love or many quiet times with yourself, or both ;) And hopefully all of that while being healthy *hugs*
That should do, I think...

Date: 2018-01-01 09:04 pm (UTC)The production was fantastic! When the character of Don sings, well, in the rain, during the famous scene? It actually rained on stage! Like, real water. It was all wet - as was he. So unexpected. And awesome :)
Thank you :)
