Neiiiiiige !
Feb. 7th, 2018 12:01 amToday has felt a bit like Christmas, in terms of high level of excitement. After around three weeks of grey and rainy and dull and not even cold weather, we suddenly had a lovely drop in temperatures (it was still around 11°C on Friday and it hasn't been higher than 2°C all day, starting with minus temperatures in the morning) and we've had... snow! It's been snowing all day long in and around Paris (meaning in Ile-de-France, and maybe elsewhere but I was pretty focused on what was happening around these parts, I admit). The snowflakes were tiny little things but consistent and by the middle of the afternoon it was sticking to the ground right in the middle of Paris, meaning in our suburbs chaos and mayhem were in place.
Yes, we belong to those ridiculous places that are so unused to snow that, say, 5cm is enough to paralyse basically everything. Case in point, some people have been in their cars for 3 hours for a meager 20km long ride (admittedly some of those places have seen more snow throughout the day). Some roads have been closed, forget about buses and RER trains. Did I say chaos and mayhem? It is ridiculous but there you have it. [ETA the next morning: 12 to 15cm this morning, guys, woohoo!]
Still, the excitement in my assorted Whatsapp groups was running high! I don't count the number of photos and videos that we all shared today, are still sharing as I type this, as matter of fact lol I am so thrilled by the sudden twist. Winter has finally come! Will it remain here? Ha, who knows? I'm just happy we get to experience it even if it only lasts the week.
I just checked, yes, everything is still white and quiet and the snow is still beautifully falling from the sky. I have high hopes for tomorrow - never a good thing, I've been disappointed before but I can't help it... SNOW omg *__*
Ok. I need to calm down or I won't ever be able to go to sleep ;) Especially as I didn't even catch five hours of sleep last night so it might be a good thing to catch up this time around. It was Zac Efron's fault, btw. After seeing The Greatest Showmantwice in two days (and I am aware of its problematic elements but I couldn't help but love it) I felt like having some Zac Efron time, which led me to Netflix where I saw that they had Charlie St. Cloud on their catalogue. Made the mistake of starting it. I say "mistake" because a) it was already rather late and b) I spent the whole time crying. Damn. It was right up my alley, though. Definitely the kind of story that I love. And now I need to read the book, I realise I had it in my possession once but I never got around to read it.
[As an aside note: omg, I wasn't sure about the original title of the film so had to look it up and I was reminded that Zac Efron played young Simon Tam in Firefly! I'd almost forgotten. And, see, this is how I lose time on teh internets; searching for one thing, finding another, which in turns leads me to a vortex of videos and fic and, well, I'm sure you know how this ends.]
One last thing,
slb44: did you watch this week's episode of The Resident? I really liked it... I think the characters are officially completely taking over the whole thing and making me not remotely care about anything else.
