Ça sent bon les vacances...
Jul. 4th, 2019 05:51 pmVictory! I'm all caught up with Endeavour \o/ I enjoyed series 6 more than I thought I would: before I started, I dreaded the change in dynamics and was a bit worried about how everyone seemed to be completely isolated but it was more subtle than that and I thought it worked quite well, especially to enhance the tension. Lonely and estranged characters always me ache so much. Good job, Mr. Lewis.
As for that series finale? I thought it was brilliant. The performance was top-notch (as usual, mind), the tension palpable and the narrative ever so layered <3 Omg, that scene at the end! Endeavour standing alone in front of Jago and the others, unsure of his fate, Jago insisting on how Endeavour has basically been abandoned by everyone and will die all alone, then the sound of a car coming up and watching as the rest of the team joins them... "You picked the wrong team, brother. We're city men, first and last" You are, matey, you truly are!! And you do mind your own. Be still my heart *__*
That whole scene was so tense and packed with emotions. I loved it! Then the very last one, back at the nick, was incredibly satisfying *happy sigh* . I thought it could have served as a show finale although, obviously, I am absolutely thrilled it is not the case. Series 7 cannot come soon enough! I just realised that I will be able watch as it airs, btw! Awesome :)
In case you were worried about me and what I am going to do now that I'm done catching up with the show? No need to. I intend on watching it all over again ;) (It'll be pretty interesting to go from s6!Endeavour to s1!Endeavour... he's changed so much!)
Cookie wasn't best pleased with me as, on our tv schedule, we should get ready to start with season 3 of Stranger Things (among other things). Except I was a bad student and never finished season 2. Plus, the Endeavour love still hasn't settled down, I'm afraid, so I need some more of it. Sorry, ô my beloved. I failed thee.
In other news, and to end this entry on something else than Endeavour, I am pretty excited because next week I will be in the UK (no, not in Oxford, although, of course now I want to go back there and maybe visit some of the locations we find in the show... as you do). We're approaching that time of the year when I go on my Sisterly European Weekend. We'd originally picked Zagreb but due to conflicting schedules and what not we went from planning a little trip to Croatia to planning a little trip to the UK. Not that I minded one bit, if I could go there every month, I would :) So we're going to Bath. First time for both of us.
And the little trips abroad won't be over as in August, Cookie and I will spend a long weekend in Amsterdam! It's beginning to look a lot like Summer holidays ;) Delightful!
