Aww, I didn't do my weekly post last week, thus breaking the weekly-post streak that I had going for the past (two?) months.

But! To my defense, I'll say I was pretty busy? (And on Sunday I was sick). I had myself a mini holidays the past week. I took Wednesday afternoon and Thursday off and since Friday was a bank holiday, I had four days and a half off work \o/ How cool is that?

Cookie and I made the most of it, believe you me (she was on holiday too). On Wednesday afternoon we went to the Tolkien, voyage en Terre du Milieu exhibit (aka Tolkien, journey to Middle-Earth) held at the French National Library and it was fantastic! There were so many original manuscripts, maps and drawings! We had a blast! Then we had a coffee and pecan pie at the cinema complex right next to the library - because why not end the afternoon on a sugary note - and had a little fan moment when two famous French actors/actresses walked right next to us! (I have no idea whether their names are going to ring any bells but it was Charlotte Gainsbourg and Yvan Attal). They were there for the premiere of their last film and were just walking to the location, without a single fuss, with only one person from security escorting them, simple as you please. Pretty cool :) No-one bothered them, we just had that little awestruck look people get when they see celebrities ;) That was fun.

On Thursday we went to the cinema and saw Doctor Sleep (perfect for Halloween, even though we don't celebrate it). Friday, oh Friday, we had the most pleasant day of all, really. We started it with some Ramen (we are huge Ramen fans in case it escaped your notice) in our favourite Ramen place then had coffee in a very cute coffee shop nearby. Even though the weather was grey it wasn't dull as such, so we wandered about a bit and headed to WHSmith where I treated myself with two books (yay books!) then because we were very close to it we had a little stroll around the Tuileries garden where we enjoyed and admired the beautiful automnal foliage. Then we headed back home where we drank tea and ate cake and roasted chestnuts while playing a new boarding game we'd recently purchased. It was perfect!

On Saturday we went to my mother-in-laws' for the afternoon and ate more cakes. And on Saturday night, I was sick and basically had a sleepless night due to pain and uneasiness (direct consequence of the EAT ALL THE FOOD YAY! mentality of the previous days, so definitely not unexpected seeing I shouldn't indulge like that, at all.) So I cancelled my plan on Sunday and just stayed home and rested. It was good too.

That was quite some lovely holidays, wasn't it? And we managed to do a little Prodigal Son marathon (because we are still not tired of it #UnderstatementOfTheCentury) and I also mainlined the first series of The Rain, which wasn't really on my radar but maybe the weather inspired me? Anyway. I watched the first season and now plan on watching the second... whenever. Read, whenever I don't watch Prodigal Son ;)

Actually, wait, I'll have to make time for yet another show because His Dark Materials starts tonight, doesn't it? And there's no way I'll miss having James McAvoys on my tv on a weekly basis (well, depending on how much time screen he gets throughout the series but you get my meaning). So exciting!

Your mini-holiday sounds fantastic.

What great things you did, though I'm sorry you got sick.

How was Doctor Sleep? I'm unsure if I want to see it or not as I'm such a wuss about some films.

I've got His Dark Materials recored and ready to watch. I really hope it's good.
