Meilleure icône du monde 👍🏼
Feb. 8th, 2020 11:06 pmI am having such a great time as far as tv is concerned these days. Prodigal Son continues to be my happy place, Magnum P.I keeps on being super cute and sweet. I've recently discovered The Bold Type and I am absolutely loving it! It uses many of the well-known clichés you would expect to find in a show that tells the story of three young women working in the fashion industry, here for a women's magazine, and turning most of them on their heads (the clichés, I mean).
Whenever I start a new episode, I end up watching three or four in a row. It is such uplifting, feel-good tv! It's an ode to female friendship with three adorable young women who are super fun, touching, smart, fierce, resourceful, ever so supportive of each other, always trying to do the right thing, sometimes making mistakes but always owning up to them and, again, always trying to be a positive presence in the lives of others. Seeing them together (or with others) is good for the soul! As for the (secondary-main) male characters, it's pretty much the same story, they are awesome too! Respectful, supportive... so refreshing! I also love, as in love, the fact that even though they're young and female, they actually manage to stand up for themselves, even when it comes to relationships - especially when it comes to relationships. You so rarely see that in shows! They speak up, they express their needs, they make themselves heard. When so many shows have female characters be defined by the relationships they have or try to have with the men around them, it is so incredibly refreshing to have characters who say "ok, this isn't the kind of relationship I want or need. I won't try to change you but I refuse to change, let's break up and be adults about it" The show was a lovely surprise.
Then there's ST: Picard. I quite enjoyed the first two episodes but absolutely loved the third one. HELLO, RIOS! Happy to (finally) meet you! And what a character introduction that was!
turps33, have you watched it yet? Wasn't that the best character introduction we saw in a long time? ♥ But Rios' first appearance wasn't the only reason why I enjoyed the ep. so much, ok? I really liked Raffi and was quite excited when the crew officially came on board. I know it's only been three episodes but it felt longer somehow ;) That last scene was a blast: Picard's "Engage" was such an exciting moment (Cookie laughed at me because Picard and I said the word at the same time - I was that excited lol).
Also! Thank you, tv show, for giving me yet another fucked-up sibling unit. I'm quite looking forward to more inappropriate smelling and touching between Narek and Narissa ;) And, please, let Narissa call him "baby brother" a lot. That would please me immensely *nodnod*
As I said, I'm having a great time, tv wise :) Oh, there's also the new season of The Sinner that piqued my interest (ok, mostly due to Matt Bomer playing in it but the trailer did look intriguing), I have the season premiere downloading as I type. And there's Locke & Key that just got released... although, I think I'll wait to finish the new season of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina before diving in. No, but seriously, it's not easy being a tv show fan ;)
