Finally caught
babycakesin on the phone to wish her a happy birthday 'live'. That woman sure is busy, but I succeeded in catching her, I'm happy *g*
Soooo I watched 413 and I as usual, I couldn't resist so here :
413 aka Oh the love!
Okay first : Mel and Lindsay. Yes it's painful, well the whole situation is. What is weird though -- in my eyes I mean-- is how they focus on Linds cheating on Mel with a man instead of just focusing on the fact that she cheated period. I mean... cheating is cheating. Yes, the whole fucking-a-man thing adds to the drama and the sense of betrayal, but it really feels that they're attacking Lindsay's bisexual tendencies more than her cheating ones. Or maybe if they focused just on the cheating part, they would have to pull a stop to it because after all, Mel did it too - and they need the drama... so here they're showing it's *not* the same thing at all, which explains Mel's anger and resentment and validates it.
Second : Ted and Emmett. Yes they were awfully cute in that episode - when they were crying in the front row, they cracked me up *g* I didn't expect any less from Em but was a bit surprised that Ted joined the crying - in a nice way I mean *g* Though he had more reasons for his tears than just seeing Michael getting married, he was really moving *g* As for Ted/Emmett, it was also ambiguous. I mean :
Em: God, you barely shed a tear at Mel and Lindz's ceremony.
Ted: Well, they're dykes, for chrissakes. Shake hands and go bowling! How much can you get choked up? Anyway, it's not just for Michael and Ben. If things had been different, maybe -
Em: No point in beating yourself up, Teddy. We're still friends, aren't we? Which means we'll be together a lot longer than most marriages!
... has to mean something, doesn't it? As in they both acknowledged what could have been but what won't ever be. I'm curious to know what the Temmett fans thought about this scene - was like a validation of their relationship or a sort of closure? Though yes, S5 has yet to come, I know *g* And we didn't get even a single reference to Drew btw? I guess they couldn't include *everything* either... Unless, you know unless they're pushing T/E out of the way once and for all to start new with S5 - maybe those who are in love with Drew/Emmett still have hope? I'm wondering.
Anyway now : Ben/Michael *g* You know that I'm always mentioning how I love kinky and dark stuff, but I'm also a big softie and a romantic kinda gal and the wedding? It made me all tingly inside! I just can't resist scenes like that on a good day, so seeing my favourite character, ie Michael, getting married was just too good!
That being said, the only thing I could eventually have a slight problem with? How the decision to get married seemed a bit rushed in a way. I mean, I know - characters are supposed to have a life of their own even when the show isn't running, but considering Michael's surprise when Ben proposed, I feel safe in saying that it apparently wasn't a subject they'd really discussed. That being said part 2, I see their point - Ben must have wanted to propose for some time and he just had the *perfect* opportunity handed to him on a silver plate with Carl proposing to Deb, Michael's little speech convincing Ben now was the right time and of course the trip to Toronto. In retrospect, it would have been a pity to have missed it. So okay.
The ceremony was soooo sweet - and Big Ben looked so moved! I mean, I enjoyed the whole scene immensely - it was just beautiful *g* In a way, the moment that almost gave me goosebumps was the moment when they exchanged their rings - the camera was right on them, and we really got to see the rings put on their fingers and it was really powerful - I don't know, I just adored that particular image *g*
Of course I can't talk about the proposal or the wedding without mentioning Brian. The scene in the Canadian!Woody's between Michael and Brian was ambiguous okay. If I were into Br/M, I would definitely take it as another proof for this ship - add to that the moment when Brian was about to say something at the wedding, and you have your ship still pretty intact. Speaking of which, I wish Deb stopped trying to come between Brian and Michael, be it Brian/Michael or Brian-Michael btw... you don't decide to eventually interfere during a wedding ceremony lightly, so if Brian was about to say something, he apparently had something important to say. But whatever - he didn't, and Ben and Michael got married *goes back to tingly moment*
No wait! Speaking of the Canadian!Woody's scene - want to know what Michael and Ben looking at the old couple celebrating their 32th anniversary reminded me of? When David was trying to convince Michael to move in with him by inviting him to this other old couple's house - hope it's not a sign and that it doesn't bode ill for Ben and Michael's marriage *shrug* As Em's Which means we'll be together a lot longer than most marriages! little speech btw *g*
Finally, loved the very last scene when the guys started the Liberty Ride. I always enjoy those scenes with all the guys together - and really, the 'Just Married' signs on Ben and Michael's bikes were so cute! lol Something else that was cute was the little Deb and Brian piece.
All in all? 413 was as good as I hoped it would be - I'm a happy camper *g*
Yeah so I didn't mention Justin, I know. Others will anyway *g* Though wait, something annoyed me actually - when Keller introduced Justin as the creator or 'Rage'? No - Just.no. Justin isn't the creator of Rage - in my mind Michael is because he's the one who created the whole concept in the first place, but without Justin he wouldn't have made it so okay, Justin *is* part of the team - it's the two of us, the writer and the illustrator - but he is not the creator, singular of Rage. And it just hurts my ears to hear this anyway, no matter what. Now I'm not into copyrights, I don't know how the whole thing works so I don't know whether it was valid or not, but I just don't like it. But to be fair, I liked his 'buttsex' speech. So there *g*
Man, only one more episode to go... how I'm going to miss my weekly QAF episode! I know I have the DVDs for the three previous seasons and I have most of S4 on disc, but I loved getting *new* material on a regular basis *sigh*
Hey, was that a QAF entry *only*? Yes, I think it was. Wow.
ETA: Hey, just watched the preview for 414. Thanks Showcase. And still booo to Showtime since you can't access the site if you don't live in the US *glares*

Date: 2004-07-14 06:08 pm (UTC)YES! i noticed that too. i'm not sure why they did it...i mean, you would have thought they'd try something original but yeah, maybe it has some symbolism. [season 4 has a lot of symbolism or it coul dbe that i'm paranoid]
but he is not the creator, singular of Rage.
oh brian, i noticed that too. but i think it was for simplicity's sake rather than anything else. i consider michael and justin as equal in creating rage, they did it together. but yeah, i doubt they meant anything bad by it.

Date: 2004-07-15 04:09 am (UTC)I definitely hope it was for simplicity's sake, but how difficult was it to say 'he's one of the creators of Rage', really. It wasn't fair to Michael *sigh*

Date: 2004-07-15 04:55 am (UTC)if only to hear justin talk about buttfuckingand he goes "OUR comic book...".maybe we're thinking too deep into this.
not to forget about what they already did in previous seasons
yeah but that's a biggie, it would be WAY too hard to forget about that...but oh well. we never know.
