castalieFinally watched Atlantis. Did I like it? *points to icon* This is also a GIP, so what do ya think? We'll see if the icon stays, it'll be the ultimate proof that I'm into Atlantis for good.
It didn't start out that good though, 'cause all I could think about when I was watching it was :
Teyla : Pretty but sorta dull.
Ford : Who's that? Oh yeah the sidekick.
Sheppard : Cute but sorta... nothing.
Weir : Not that beautiful but actually interesting.
The only exception?
Jack: General and funny but serious - woohoo!
Daniel : Soooo Daniel - Talksamileaminute&Getsallexcited!Daniel *love*
Jack/Daniel : *melts*
McKay : Oh yeah baby!
Beckett : Ohhhh the love! [ETA: Forgot to mention that but did anyone else thought it was funny that this Dr Beckett also got his hologram, even if for just a brief moment in time? Or was that just me being a total Leaper geek? lol]
McKay/Beckett : *melts again*
Then as the episode went, I got hooked without noticing and yeah, I sorta got into it in the end.
Sheppard isn't just Cute Guy, he's actually amusing and an interesting character, completely different from Jack which I was afraid he would end up being a clone of, and he's not so much the cliched character I was worried he would turn out to be either. So yeah, Sheppard is nice after all. As is Weir whom I love very much so far. Ford is still a bit blah even and I'll see if his goofy behaviour doesn't get on my nerves at one point but whatever, and Teyla is a great leader I'm sure but so far I don't really know what to say about her, so I'll refrain from saying anything *g*
McKay and Beckett? The love only grew stronger as the episode ran, but said love started pretty strong with the very first scene that portrayed them both so you know, I think I found my official Atlantis OTP, namely McKay/Beckett. I reserve the right to change my mind in the future, I still have two more episodes to watch, plus everything else of course, but right now? McKay/Beckett all the way. And I know I don't need to get myself a OTP each time I watch a new show, but I can't help it, it's just fun *g*
And speaking of OTP - the Jack and Daniel scenes in this pilot? To die for! I mean, come on! I was melting all right, and the last scene? Jack. It's not too late for me to. No I..I could just grab my notes. No. was priceless!! Almost as much as the one when Jack thinks Weir is talking about Daniel and he goes into possessive mode immediately. Yeah, Daniel is so his, Jack is not sharing! I really want to thank TPTB for givingme us those J/D scenes. I'm eternally grateful.
Anyway, let's forget about the Jack & Daniel Show and let's go back to actual Atlantis - I have to say I was pleasantly surprised because it did interest me in the end. I hope the two more episodes I have to see will confirm this, but then the pilot at least got me interested enough to even think of trying the rest. Besides, pilots are usually a bit slower than the rest of the series - or maybe not 'slower', what I mean is their number 1 purpose is to put the basis of the series and they expose things more than anything else, so I'm curious to see the complexity of the storyline and the characters evolve.
Speaking of which, the Wraiths? They didn't really impress me at first, I don't know why but I just wanted to slap them, they annoyed me that much... then okay I sorta changed my mind because as Villains? Not so bad, pfew *cringe* But don't they look a bit like Orcs? Not that it's a bad thing as far as looking mean and ugly go, mind.
Anyway - really liked this pilot after all so am a happy camper *g*
Hey does someone have some McKay/Beckett to rec by any chance? Please tell me you do - or am I getting interested in what will end up being rareslash? Tell me it is not so *pleading look* And if no one has, not that I'll change my canon OTP but I'll be amenable to a slight adaptation and try a new fanon OTP, namely Sheppard/McKay because snarky is always of the good *nod*
Yeah, can you tell I didn't really pay attention to all those reviews and Atlantis talks? lol And when I said McKay/Beckett recs, I was also thinking about McKay/Beckett icons as a matter of fact *g*
Also, since I'm speaking about SG - I just saw the official Letter, you know the one that the spoilers for Threads gave birth to? And they even have a banner to go with it. Fans can bescary and insane dedicated all right *nodnod*

I more or less lost interest after that but still thought I needed to try it for myself, know what I mean? I'm glad I did, obviously.
