Life is ironical sometimes. Nothing new, mind. So you spent more than $250 million for a mission that lasted around two years and a half - everything worked just fine until the very end and then... because of two good ol' parachutes, you're the very-sad witness to the long and agonising fall of the oh so precious capsule that contains the even more precious 'cargo'? Man, that's irony at its finest to me.
Speaking of irony, I'm actually waiting for today's SV episode. Me! Who thinks that SV is so boring that I can't ever watch an episode til the end, me who believes that Clark is one the dullest character ever [This Clark though, not Superman as a character] and... I was going to say something bad about Lana, but it won't make a big difference compared to what I always hear about her on my flist lol My favourite characters? That would be Jonathan and Martha, I think.
Anyway, I saw the trailers for Exile and even though it's not the first time they air S3, I think it's the first time I think of watching it. No wait, there was this other episode that was sorta cool... with Lex committed to a mental hospital - hey wasn't it called Asylum now that I think of it? Well that's beside the point - the point is, today I was not only waiting for SG but also for SV!
Though re: my object? I don't know whether it'll be good, I'm just... trying to convince myself that this time I'll really get interested in the characters and the storylines. Who knows? And no, I'm not really talking about the series btw, just Exile - it'll be enough of a miracle lol
And on something different. See, yesterday
babycakesin posted some pics of Hal Sparks aka Wicked Tongue Fest. Well, I was looking at those other pics at Hal Sparks.com and I found another reason why Ben loves his Michael so much.
Not only does the man have the most wicked tongue ever, he's also really flexible :

Bendy, flexible - you name it, he can do it. Also, I'm a happy camper because it's something you get to see in QAF - I clearly remember calling Michael 'Mighty Bendy' in my head sometimes lol Hal Sparks is a man of many talents, isn't he? And he speaks Mandarin, too? *dies*
And another pic of Hal Sparks, just because I love the man when he laughs or smiles *g*

And ooops, SV started - gotta see if they can keep me awake after all *eg*
ETA: Well, it was kinda cool, redkryptonite!Clark is definitely more interesting than regulardull!Clark, but I'm afraid I got distracted by an awesome and fascinating documentary on ARTE Découverte so huh... I didn't really watch all of SV. But I'll watch part 2 tomorrow, I guess.

Date: 2004-09-09 10:17 am (UTC)I have a couple of friends who run a dojo (they teach various forms) and martial arts develop that kind of flexibility, especially at the higher levels.
Speaking some kind of Asian language, Mandarin or Japanese, is common among people that are really into MA. Most of the terms are in those languages, and you start picking it up from instructors.

Date: 2004-09-09 04:45 pm (UTC)It refers to dancing the tango, where you "dip" your partner at one point in the dance.
In that episode of Starsky and Hutch, Starsky poses as a dance instructor for Latin dancing(he poses as an Argentinian, "Ramone" with a lousy accent. Just dance Starsky, don't talk!), and Hutch is posing as a cloddish but wealthy student, because he really cannot dance.
At the end of the episode, Starsky sneaks Hutch into their captains office at work, locks the door(!) moves all the furniture and tries to teach him how to do the tango.
It's so damn slashy, it's not even funny.
Hutch: "I'll lead." *grabs Starsky around the waist and pulls them chest to chest*
Starsky:"No, I'll lead, I'm doin' the teachin!" *he repositions Hutchs hands, pulls their hips together and counts to begin the tango*
The lady whose dance studio they were undercover at comes in on them.
Lady: "Was I interrupting something?" *gives them a sly look*
Hutch: "No, not at all!" *he and Starsky still have one arm around each other for the whole conversation, and never break apart*
Lady proceeds to thank them, tells Starsky that one of his students says to tell him "No one dips like Ramone!" and departs saying, "Well, boys, it takes two to tango!" *wink, wink, nudge nudge*
Hutch: *teasing* "No one's A DIP like Ramone!"
So, Starsky grabs him and dips him, and retorts: "When you got it, flaunt it boy!" which is what Hutch's undercover character said earlier in the episode that made Starsky roll HIS eyes after he pinches Hutch on the ass.
We like to count the number of times these two guys pinch each other's butts in the series. Passes the time nicely while watching.

Date: 2004-09-10 03:19 am (UTC)Do stars have any idea what's going on in their fan's heads? Seriously? They'd be scared - I don't mean just by slash, but the whole thing! How we speak in code and everything... very, very odd lol

Date: 2004-09-10 03:31 am (UTC)Me? I got into SG right at the beginning and seriously S1 is like the best - and I'm not just saying because of the J/D bit and because J/D is my OTP, nah-huh - I'm saying this because of everything else like the Science Twin routine for instance? Also, I really love your character - he's just perfect for h/c theme, you know? No? I meant Danny Whumping - you don't get it? Never mind. Suffice to say I love Daniel and seriously, you have good chemistry with RDA which explains the whole slash thing, and don't get me started on het, puh-lease! That's so lame - all the slashers will tell ya. Besides, hetters have a weird reputation in the fandom. Fandom? I'll explain later. Like I said, hetters usually bring up wanks. No w.a.n.k.s - flame war if you prefer. You don't? No problem. Funny enough, that's exactly one of the topic discussed on one of my comms - note that I said comm not ML. What? Comm, on LJ. Man, you poor thing - you're really tired today, aren't you?'
I don't see what's difficult to understand *shakes head*

Not mentioning you watching SV. Look at me walking away with my mouth shut ;)

Date: 2004-09-09 01:22 pm (UTC)And does the man know how to spread his legs or what? *eg* I knew he could be bent like a bretzel but that was new lol
Well, I didn't even watch it till the end - besides, while watching it, I couldn't help thinking of Clark whoring himself in Metropolis because he was lost and angsty and rejected by all. My version was even better, IMHO.
