Looooooooooooooost!
Sep. 30th, 2004 03:15 pmI just watched Lost! Like only one little day after they did in the US! I mean, you may not realise but this is really exciting - wow! When I refreshed my flist and saw
nuregwen's entry with the file, I squeed so loud I think I scared myself lol
And the download only lasted 40 minutes! Fourty minutes v Five hours last week, wow. Downloading something when you're not a lot to do it is just grand *g*
Anyway, let's talk seriously now - Could I be more hooked on that show? Maybe, but honestly I don't see how right now. I'm totally, truly and hopelessly in love with that new series, I'm not kidding!
Right at the beginning when they did a recap of last week's episode? I was bouncing on my armchair and trying to mentally speed the process because dude, I watched that episode like ten times already, I knew what had happened, but did I actually forward the thing? No! Because you don't forward Lost, you just don't! So I squeed over something I more or less know by heart and when the new episode officially started, I'd worked myself into Insane Fangirl mode lol
So, everyone and their brothers were right about Charlie being a junkie - and I was really glad we were because that's a story-line I'm definitely getting into. Oh the angst potential! I'm sure my eyes take an odd glassy appearance just when I think of it - sweet, sweet anticipation... don't let me down man! And Charlie is still at the top of my Characters I Love list, btw. There's just something about him, I can't describe it, I'm so drawn to him... He's so complex and I want to know everything about him, and I want to see him going cold turkey, and I want to see him interact with the others and... I just want to see him, period lol He can be sweet and funny one second and turn distant and oh so intense the next - the look he gave Kate at the beginning of the episode when she tells him he's not a coward? Boy the intensity of it!! I foresee lots of rewinding this scene in my future, believe me! That one and lots of others because huh did I mention that I adore Charlie?
Speaking of him and his addiction? I'm also wondering when the gang is going to learn about it and I'm also wondering whether he's not going to have to give his stash to Jack or something, you know to use as meds? At one point, when Jack tells Hurley that he needs whatever he can find to replace meds, and he does insist on drugs, I really thought they would discover about Charlie's little addiction at this point and force it to hand it to them.
Kate now... Ah Kate! Rocks my world - like 100%. How did I love that she was the one to decide to take a hike with the others? A lot? That would be one way of putting, yeah - then again, saying I fell for her even harder would also be a correct answer. She takes decision for the good of the group and she doesn't ask permission to do what she thinks is right, no sirree, not her. She doesn't ask Jack if she can go, she just tells him... and I fucking loved that. And when we realised she was the prisoner? Man, talk about a twist! I swear I never saw that coming, and I thank JJ for surprising the hell out of me with that one! Of course to show us that there's more to the situation that meets the eyes and that Kate may not be such a bad girl after all, they showed her putting the oxygen thingie on the Marshall's face - because hey, a real criminal would have jumped on the opportunity to see him die but not her. Then again, there's also the whole Shrapnel Guy thing of course - that was another cool twist btw. Man, this show is so keeping me on my toes, I love that!
Speaking of which - the polar bear? Yeah, way to confuse us even more - woohoo!
Something else I really enjoyed is how we got to really 'meet' the other characters this time around - they all did have some screentimes and it feels like they're all shaping up nicely. We saw a lot more of Sayid --whose name I still spell Said btw, like in French *sigh*-- and that made me really happy. I like his attitude. I mean he's definitely not the meek kind who would accept to be bossed around or anything - he'll hit back at once, thanks, but to me he also exudes self-assurance and quiet. Anyway, love him to pieces *g*
And wait, speaking of Sayid, and Charlie before that? I can't get enough of the scene where they're both standing real close, Charlie slightly behind Sayid' shoulder, during the gun scene - know which one I'm talking about? They were too cute for words in that scene!
Creepy Orange Guy, aka Locke didn't creep me out so much today. I actually thought he was really interesting. Kin is confusing me though. Sure, he's being a jerk to Sun, but he sounds like an angry jerk as opposed to maybe just-a-jerk - as if he was actually hurt by something his wife had done. I'm not making excuse for him because I certainly dislike his behaviour toward Sun, but he is confusing me. Like when he brought food to the others... Hurley making fun of him wasn't exactly a nice way to thank him for that btw. I like Hurley, but that wasn't nice.
Shannon finally showed us there's more to her that just Spoiled Girl. I mean, I know that lots of people see her as a bitch and nothing more, but denial will make you say and do things that aren't exactly noble and we needed a character who wouldn't just accept the situation and fight back immediately. That was Shannon for us *g* And I like her actually. Also, she doesn't speak French that fluently, like she said. Her translation wasn't 100% correct but that definitely made it more realistic and she still did a nice job with it anyway - besides, she translated all the important bits... except for the part about 'le rocher noir'. Dunno if it'll prove to be important or not - the omission I mean, or if she'll remember that bit later on, but since it's a - wait is it supposed to be a spoiler if I translate the thing? Damn, see? LJ made me paranoid! Anyway, there's a translation of the message in the comments below, so just in case... you're warned *shrug*
At first, when I realised it was French we heard on the radio --in last week's preview-- I feared for a sec that the French would replace the Russians and we would become the Bad Guys from now on. Which wouldn't have been traumatic, but man if I'm loving a show, I don't wanna be one of the bad guys! lol As it turns out, we were apparently part of the victims... or if we did belong to the bad guys in the first place, it sure back-fired because the woman's message? Chilled me. And the sixteen years thing definitely added to it *shudder*
Oh something else I was happy to see? The Accident through other characters' eyes. I was impatient to see those scenes.
Damn, I knew I would be editing this post like crazy lol Okay so another addition --though you won't notice if you didn't read the original, granted. The music? Is really great. I'd already had that thought for the first part of the premiere but it really struck me when Kate and her little troop are climbing the hill/mountain - I really enjoyed the musical theme used during that scene.
I know I'm forgetting stuff, so I may go back to that post and edit it in the near future but that was my first impressions *g*
To make a long story short... I LOVE THAT SHOW.
Yes, I did need the caps *nodnod*
Now, I'm going to hit the flist and read all the Lost posts --I don't think I'll get tired of all those play on words created thanks to that particular title btw lol-- I didn't allow myself to read last night - yay! And afterwards? I'll watch it again and again and - okay you get the picture.
Oh something else that amused me? While commenting on
nuregwen's LJ to thank her for uploading the episodes for us, I actually met another Frenchie! A Frenchie who apparently isn't just into Lost but into Sayid/Charlie too! Talk about a nice coincidence *g* So welcome to
crazybutsound. I think
greedy_dancer also found her, which is just plain sweet - we're gathering all the French slashers we can on our flists! lol
Also, praised be
missnegativity who's the fearless leader of the Shallow Lust Resistance - her work isn't easy but she does it anyway because someone's had to do it. Hail to her and troops *bows*

Date: 2004-09-30 07:45 am (UTC)so now for the rest of your post:
it took me only 10 minutes to download it, like last time ... *does the happy broadband dance*
loved the music as well. noticed it at the same point in the story, too.
that look after the "you're not a coward" comment ... they made it last this long for a reason! (and i'm not complaining, let this be clear! lol). there's something there that will be significant.
Kate taking charge: HOT! as was Kate in skin-like underwear ...
'le rocher noir' has to be important. at least us French-speaking people won't be too surprised when they get to a black rock and find bones ... or something else even more freaky!
that's it for now, i think ... oh no, previews for next week: maybe we'll know what the "thing" is, since it seems to be attacking our friend the Crazy Orange Guy. who do the knives belong to? why were they on the plane? and what about the undead husband? they wouldn't mention it unless it was important!
no subject
Date: 2004-09-30 06:40 am (UTC)Y'know, I've been waiting for you to see it ... so that I could shamelessly badger you into translating what she was actually saying. *really cute look*
no subject
Date: 2004-09-30 10:02 am (UTC)LOL Your cute look will get you everywhere *g* Sure. So what she says : in French first : "Il est dehors. Venez nous aider. Venez nous aider. Si qui que ce soit puisse entendre ceci [which still douns awkward but well *shrug*] je vais essayer d'aller jusqu'au rocher noir. Venez nous aider. Ils sont morts. Ils sont tous morts. Il les a tués. Il les a tués tous. Je vais essayer d'aller jusqu'au rocher noir."
English version : "He's outside/out there ['dehors' can be translated by outside but since we're dealing with an island, it can just mean the creature is indeed out there, somewhere - or it just means it escaped and it's not outside as opposed to inside where it was supposedly staying - still, he'll certain be out there anyway *g*]. Come and help us. Come and help us. If someone is listening to this, I'll try to reach the Black Rock/Boulder. Come help us. They're dead. They're all dead. He killed them all. I'll try to reach the Black Rock/Boulder".
Note though that in French, 'il' can refer to a 'he' or a 'it'. Though you might have already known that already *g*
So like I said, Shannon does translate most of the important bits, but one might wonder if what she can't translate will prove to be of huge importance *g* And since there's a location in the message - well, that could be it *g*
no subject
Date: 2004-09-30 06:52 am (UTC)I definitely like the prisoner!Kate twist, and I'm glad the French was translated ok but not 100%. She did say she wasn't that good at it, after all *g*
So glad you got to see the ep so quickly!
no subject
Date: 2004-09-30 07:01 am (UTC)Yes, that's why it made the scene more realistic. Her saying she didn't speak French and translating everything perfectly afterwards, *with* the static we could hear over the message anyway, wouldn't have been really cool.
And I'm so hyper about it! lol Just hope the girl will keep uploading them *crosses fingers*

Oh boy... I can see precisely where your mind is going with that. Dirteh. lol. Love it.
And when we realised she was the prisoner? Man, talk about a twist! I swear I never saw that coming
I know! I couldn't believe I was actually suckered about that. And yes, she did put the breathing mask on the Marshall's face, but I have a feeling her crime was awful. Her make up was perfect, as was her hair, which made me think she was a bit cold blooded. If she'd committed a crime of passion she wouldn't have seemed so cool, maybe? Just guessing. And the Marshall seemed to really detest her, almost as if he knew her well, like a profiled criminal.
You know, I never thought about the fact that Sun might have done something wrong to warrant the way she's treated. Interesting...
I don't know if you want to talk about possibilities in the show's future. If not, stop reading now!
Still here? Okay, I think they're lost in time and space, and not on an actual island in the ocean. I talked about it to a friend of mine who follows Abrams' works closely and he went even further. He thinks the fact that the show is titled "Lost" and not, "Marooned" or something, is an indication of a state of being more abstract than being marooned. One of the producers had said at Comic Con that they have 100 episodes outlined, and it seems that would demand a lot of plot twists for just being on an island. My friend thinks the island is just the first stop, and they'll keep moving into different locations that will keep resetting the stakes in the show. Which to me kinda helps make sense of the polar bear's presence. lol.
Of course this is us just guessing our asses off. But it was fun doing it because DAMN I love that fucking show. *g*

Date: 2004-10-02 05:56 am (UTC)Why did I have the feeling you'd be right by my side with that one? lol
Her make up was perfect, as was her hair, which made me think she was a bit cold blooded. If she'd committed a crime of passion she wouldn't have seemed so cool, maybe.
I hadn't thought of that. I took it as a show of contrast between Now!Kate and Before!Kate, but now that you mention it, I'm starting to wonder, yeah *g*
You know, I never thought about the fact that Sun might have done something wrong to warrant the way she's treated. Interesting...
Thanks lol One of the things I also adore about this show? Is how many theories everyone is trying to come up with. It's like one of the most interactive show ever! lol
Case in point your theory about what is really happening. Know what? I had the same thought at one point. Know what it could remind of? The Langoliers by Stephen King. Too bad nobody speaks French in their team or I'd have started to think they were in fact listening to a message sent by one of them - though that's a plot that is more or less common, still I just adore that kind of thing *g* And Shannon can't be it btw, since she says herself she can't really speak French.
Anyway, it's just pretty interesting from all angles *g*

Date: 2004-10-02 04:20 am (UTC)And I am so totally sold on Charlie/Sayid. They're both hot, they have chemistry, and they don't know what personal space is. What's not to like? I fully intend to write some as soon as I've seen a bit more of the show. *nods*
And since I'm being completely random, your lj layout is so freaking distracting... *stares at Jack and Daniel*

Date: 2004-10-09 02:32 am (UTC)OMG are you kidding? That would just so very perfect! After I paid for the university fee last week I'm sorta like, broke, and I can't really buy anything right now. Instead, I'm making a list of all the things I'd like but can't get atm and let me tell you the list already bloody huge, so your offer comes at the perfect moment and makes me bounce like crazy - this is so sweet of you!!!
I know my answer isn't exactly PC and I should tell you it's not alright and everything, but I'm the kind of person who usually gets all giddy at the prospect of someone giving me a present and I always consider that it pleases people to please me --like it pleases me to please others-- so I just can't refuse because... it's always so thoughtful, how could I say no?
Thankyouthankyouthankyou *kisses*

Date: 2004-10-09 11:09 am (UTC)Grand ^_^! And don't worry about the non-PC answer, it is very British to say, 'No, you shouldn't' then the other person to say, 'But I want to' then 'But really you don't need to' then 'But I really want to' then 'Oh, go on then, thanks' *grins*! So I'm glad we did the shortcut *beams*!
Thankyouthankyouthankyou *kisses*
*kisses back* I'd better warn you that it may be a little while because I want to get enough manga to get free delivery and then I will post yours to you myself as it will be cheaper ^_^!

Date: 2004-10-04 05:55 am (UTC)Re: the gun talk scene with Sayid and Charlie? OMG I love it! Charlie is funny - and did you notice Sayid's face? He's not all 'serious tortured Iraqi' - like, when Shannon says she wants to join? I love the look on his face!
Re: Charlie as drug addict - duuuuuuude! that scene in the toilet? And the fact that Jack needs the drug for his patient makes me really, really, really want to see the third episode (yeah, like I needed that)
Re: Sawyer (yeah, you didn't mention him, but you knew I would, didn't you? *giggles*) - I was right: totally the kind of character I fall for lol
Re: the polar bear - they were right to add this up cause this show wasn't confusing enough as it was *rolls eyes*
I LOVE IT! :D

I know! When I heard him say that, I was bouncing on my chair. Please, don't tell me it was just a comment said like that, in passing, because that would suck so much. I'm expecting a lot from that line, believe me!
Re : the polar bear - they were right to add this up cause this show wasn't confusing enough as it was *rolls eyes*
And everyone is talking about how we saw a polar bear in the comic book Walter was reading just before that scene. Now, I'm wondering what is supposed to be a hint for something more, or just a link to the next scene, know what I mean? We'll die of all the anticipation and the questions, I swear lol

Date: 2004-10-04 08:08 am (UTC)well, duh! there were practically neon signs flashing to warn us of the importance of that scene! And I really liked the way Jack wasn't much in the front of the episode - it shows how balanced the show is, and how it's a group show, not a Surgeon Jack show!
I can't wait to find out more about what Orange Dude had to say to Walt! And why the hell did the dog survive? What is the point? I'm really relieved the French aren't the bad guys, believe you me! I need to watch it again. Seriously lol
