Man that was weird. One of the first things I thought about this morning when I woke up was 'Today is Lost Day - woohoo!'. Though I don't think it's pathetic or anything since today I didn't have class --it's a holiday anyway-- and I didn't have friends to meet or anything to do. So my focusing on Lost first thing in the morning was okay *nodnod* It was also a happy thought because I had a nightmare that seemed to last all night where Clark was dead and I needed some immediate comfort [/geekish drama queen]. My computer gave me quite a scare yesterday so that may be why. Like, it totally is lol

Anyway, back to the subject at hands. Our Lost fix. Man... this has to be one of the most FUCKED UP episode ever. Twas rather disturbing, seriously. Twas also pretty brilliant because you don't see your main characters behave like that on your average and mainstream American show, usually. Then again, Lost is a category in and of itself. One of the many reasons why we sorta worship it *cough*

So first all. Claire was back!! Either they never voted her off the island like I thought or they realised people were missing her and they invited her back - in any case, she was back! And her scenes with Charlie are of teh cute! I don't believe in Claire/Charlie at all, but Claire-Charlie is awfully cute and I really enjoy their scenes together.

Speaking of Charlie, he was really tactless with Hurley and hurt him and I wasn't happy with my guy at all. He apologised, all right, and Hurley is really grand and didn't hold a grudge or anything, and the whole little "Dude" "Yeah, right... sorry, right" or whatever it was, was cute again, but still... Charlie, you hurt Hurley. All of people, you hurt Hurley! I trust you though and I know you'll make it up to him, it's okay.

And since we're talking about cute and Charlie and Claire and peanut butter - oohhhhhh how sweet were they with the whole Eating From An Empty Jar? Man, I loved that scene. And Charlie knows how to suck, I'm just sayin' *innocent look*

Too bad he got over his going cold turkey so quickly though. Like... it's almost a miracle *sigh* Oh well, at least I have the two previous episodes *clings to them*

Oh re: Hurley? His Jedi's moment's line cracked me up*

Now the others because OH BOY!

Shannon and Boone : Incest vibes aside, those two are really great together. They bicker and yell and argue but you can see the love, it's like all over the place. Today's episode was just perfect in that regard. Also, I liked Shannon practically from the start but this episode made me love her even more, because if you consider the whole No Inhaler thing, she's been behaving amazingly good since the crash. Sure, it might have been a spur of the moment thing from TPTB, which is why it wasn't hinted or anything in the previous episodes - but I'm talking from a character's point of view here, as in that's how it's always been for them... and since Shannon knew from the start that she'd lost her inhaler, I think she handled the whole situation wonderfully.

A character I'm liking less and less though is Kate. I'm afraid it's spiraling or something. I just don't understand how it happened - though, no, I know, but it's so sad *sigh* Then again, I'll survive the disappointment because I have the other girls to cheer on and drool over. Re: Kate... the French chick was one thing, but the French kissing was another. I think this show has issues with het pairings - then again, it may be me. Who knows? But it feels like they're pushing the ships all over the island and it's getting old *shrug*

I did the girls *snicker* Now for the boys.

Let's start with Sayid. When we found out what his expertise in communications really were, I'll admit the first thing I thought was Ohhh so that's why they made him an Iraqi, so he can be a professional torturer which was pretty unfair to TPTB maybe, but I couldn't help it. It just seemed a bit too much. Then I tried to relativise a bit and thought about it and decided that maybe it wasn't supposed to mean anything and it was just a coincidence. That this particular soldier was an Iraqi I mean. Because this theory was better than the alternative. So I decided that it could have been, say Jack or Jim, and they should have been able to do something like that as well. So, huh, all right. Besides, it was made clear how he loathes that part of him and how he's having trouble assuming that he could revert to torture again. I can see why the guilt would eat him.

And didn't Locke just push him into the whole thing? I mean, talk about influencing/manipulating someone into believing what you want them to believe. Or maybe just manipulating them into believing that they are right. Like, Locke knew what Sayid was thinking and he just gave him a little push. And Locke's theory about the person whacking Sayid doing it because they don't want to leave the island made me smile because that's always what I'm thinking about Locke himself. I usually forget about the French chick though, don't mind me.

Can't talk about Sayid witout talking about the torture scene, now, can I? It was fucking painful to watch. I think it was even harder that it's not something we're supposed to see in a show. For one thing, characters rarely get tortured --I mean, supposedly Lost isn't Alias where torture is, like, a way of life-- and when they are, it's by their enemies... not by people we're supposed to like and believe in. And not by people who are supposed to belong to the same group as the tortured one. Talk about a betrayal.

I was quite impressed that Jack accepted to be part of it, even if he distanced himself from the torture itself since he wasn't the one getting close and personal with Sawyer and kept pacing and refusing to really look and you could see how hard it was to listen to Sawyer scream. But the fact that he caved in and let Sayid did it, even though it was clear it was as painful for him to watch the scene as it was for me, was impressive all right. Being a leader definitely means you have to take decisions you'll hate for the benefit of the group - or the benefit of one person at least - and it may turn out really bad, but well, that's the price to pay to be the leader. It's just really sad that the only solution they found was to actually hurt one person to save another. And I hope they'll feel guilty for a long time because they could have just asked after all. They all assumed Sawyer had the medication and didn't think ahead. So okay, he could have just told them when he realised what was happening but the man knew he would get what he wanted, ie be hated for good, and it wouldn't have changed anything per se - then again, we won't ever really know, will we? But at least it could have made things a tad easier to assume for everyone involved. Then again, you behave a certain way, you assume the consequences - so now, deal with the guilt, man.

One thing I have to say about Sawyer? The man screams beautifully. Yes, I like actors/characters who cry well and who scream well. I like when I get goosebumps after hearing someone scream. And when Sawyer screamed and screamed I was pacing mentally with Jack, believe you me. To tell the truth, I couldn't really believe Sayid was doing what he was doing. I didn't believe he would act on his threat. Which is why it made the whole scene even more powerful.

And okay when I said one thing about Sawyer, it's actually tons of things. That's one hell of a tragic character than man. Hating someone all your life because you hold them responsible for taking everything away from you and becoming that person in the end would be hard on the psyche all right - and a proof that life is a bitch who made of irony a way of life. Of course, everyone makes choices in their lives, but see I always thought that choice is sometimes a luxury everyone doesn't have. And with such a trauma in your life, you may see things from a different angle - Still, OurSawyer knew what he was doing all along, I'm not excusing his behaviours or anything. It's just very sad that the real Sawyer screwed up so many lives with what was supposed to be 'just a con' for him.

Back to OurSawyer, such self-loathing is really a difficult concept to grasp. And manipulating everyone to behave toward you in such a manner that hatred and contempt are the only things you receive is so fucking twisted and fucked up! The other characters may have issues but wow, Sawyer has to be the worst so far.

His backstory was interesting. I liked the childhood trauma because I'm twisted like that and it gave the man one hell of a 'weak' point, which in turn made him more interesting to me - but I realise I won't turn into a Sawyer fan. Thing is, I don't like bad boys. I mean, I don't dislike them either, they just bore me to death. So to make me interested in Sawyer, they had to change the whole Bad Boy attitude thing. And they did that, I've had quite the deep layer added to the character, he now has one big chunk in his armour, and okay it's great, but I'm still not a Sawyer fan because he's just not the kind of character that speaks to me, even now.

Jack on the other hand is growing on me more and more, it's official. I don't like heroes either granted, but there's more to Jack than that, so I'm enjoying his character more at each new episode.

Yes, stillmadlyinlovewiththatshow. Not matter what.
