Lost killed me!

OMFG!

I didn't even write an introduction before the cut tag this time because this would mean I'm calm enough and coherent enough to play around the issue and this is so far from the truth that's it not even funny so I'll be direct : OMG OMG OMG I can't believe this episode! I... it shook me up so much you wouldn't believe it - they killed me, KILLED ME, I tell you!

How could they do this to me us?? I thought they'd killed my boy! I thought the pic I'd seen of Jack and Charlie together was a fucking hoax or a deleted scene from a previous scene or I don't fucking know what and that they'd killed their first character and I'd been wrong all along and why did it have to be Charlie - why WHY? Not him, man, not him!

That very first moment when we saw Charlie's hands and we realised he'd been hung creeped me out and I gasped because that image was tough, but I wasn't that worried yet because I was sure Jack would do some quick CPR and my guy would come back... I was so not prepared for what happened next, so not prepared for the violence of the scene. I mean, fucking shit, each time Jack struck Charlie, I was cringing and gasping - it was.. so desperate and just, so violent, I don't know - man, it shook me up. Kate's reaction really was spot on - I loved her quite much during that scene because I was right with her. I didn't want to believe at first like her, then when I started to think Charlie was dead, I sure didn't want to look at Jack hitting him over and over and over and I sure as hell didn't want to listen to the sound of fist meeting chest - and then Jack started to hit harder and faster and he was crying too, refusing to let go and when finally Charlie took his first painful painful breath - man, I took a huge breath with him myself and it felt like my chest was hurting. And then Kate was crying from joy this time and Jack was cradling Charlie close oh so close to him and it was just too good, too good, do you hear me?! *hyperventilates*

Jack? I learnt to like you throughout this first part of this season, but today? I loved you because you cried and you didn't give up and you brought my Charlie back and I'm so grateful, man *sobs in relief* And if anyone doubted your love for Charlie until this moment? Well, you gave them proof enough because Jack/Charlie is so Jim/Blair! I mean, puh-lease, don't tell me you didn't see it? They pulled a Blair on Charlie! Jim and Blair had the Fountain scene, Jack and Charlie now have the Big Bad Tree scene, and like Jim, Jack refused to admit defeat and refused to give up. He had to bring his lover back and he fucking did! And Jack didn't even have a spirit animal like Jim did, so seriously that's a bigger exploit than one could imagine.

Theirloveissoresurrectional!

I don't know if some people will find that scene cheesy or what, but man it worked for me big time...

I FEEL LIKE CRYING, I love that scene so fucking much - what am I saying, I love the whole episode so much - I think they traumatised me forever [/drama queen]

Because yeah something else that made me fall for the episode and fall hard from the very beginning? Oh man, you really need to ask? The SLASH, people, the slash! It was all over the place, just about everywhere! Like, not five minutes after the episode began we already had both Jack and Locke going crazy when they realised their lover had disappeared. Jack's Where's Charlie... Where's Charlie?? was a lover's cry - nothing else. And Locke? Was right with him - only, Locke being Locke he was being more rational, of course. I think we had both Jack/Charlie + Locked/Charlie and Jack/Charlie/Locke here today - depends on how we looked at the scenes. But Jack's despair at finding his lover was really painful to watch and I'm more heavily leaning toward the Jack/Charlie persuasion now, which as of today's episode becomes my Lost OTP1 after all... It was Locke/Charlie first but I'm revising my hierarchy with each new episode so right now, let's say Jack/Charlie OTP1, Locke/Charlie OTP2 and Hurley/Charlie OTP3.

And la cerise sur le gateau... Charlie was all traumatised and mute! Can it get better? *blink*

If we don't get more Jack/Charlie fics after this episode, I don't think we'll ever will. Might as well write my own - though I don't see it happening right now, but damn the potential *purrs*

Aaaaaaaaaand we even had Sayid/Sawer back! Still angsty and stuff, but twas back - sorta.

So huh yeah, now that I found my zen back - sorta...I guess I should talk about, you know, the other things that were creepy and stuff, but it's difficult to focus so let's make it quick :

- Where is Claire? Why did They want her - or her and the baby, obviously. Did Mr Great Seer see all of that or did he totally fuck up and it's his fault we're all in this predicament, like, if the baby becomes evil it'll be because he just saw a tiny portion of what was going to happen on the island?

- Said Others? Are creeping me out, which okay is the point, but it's working.

- What did Locke and Boone find? What's inside? Is there even something inside - is it going somewhere cool and creepy?

- I'm sure I'm forgetting tons of stuff, but sorry it can't be helped because my mind is still on the Big Bad Tree scene, did you even read my review??

Stimadlytrulyhopelesslyinlovewiththatshow!

And dammit but don't tell me we're at the mid-season hiatus and we'll have to wait forever until January to see the rest? *gasp*

ETA: There's something really really fucked up with those people.

I think we might've had some mental connection on this ep!

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You liked it, then? You felt the Lost love? YAY!!! Man, it was such a bloody awesome episode, wow *gasp*

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Not yet. I just posted something over there - a plea more than anything actually. Is it okay btw?

[identity profile] whitevanilla.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I couldn't believe this episode! I was crying once I saw Charlie hanging from the tree. I was so in shock and disbelief that all I could do was gape at the TV.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they succeeded in shocking most of their audience with that scene - wow.

[identity profile] babycakesin.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Weeeeell... apart from that scene... The Scene where I actually thought they had killed charlie because Dom had to go and shoot some movie... but that Scene was definitely worth it lol

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That Scene was almost too hard for the little Mouse - but damn, it was so awesome lol

[identity profile] digitalmeowmix2.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
and then Jack started to hit harder and faster and he was crying too, refusing to let go
yes omg becuase he wasnt go to lose another person NOT AGAIN

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The man definitely has issues - and in that case? I was so happy about it because imagine if he'd listened to Kate?! *gasp*

[identity profile] whitevanilla.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't believe peole can be so ignorant. It still amazes me. And it's people like that, like GWB, that make me want to leave this country. America is suppose to be about ensuring freedoms, not taking them away and burning them.

Fuck this damn country.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I read anyway, don't worry lol

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
This? Almost sounded surreal - I mean, how can it happen?

Then again, we're dealing with Bush' USofA after all, so I'm afraid nothing should surprise us. And I feel your pain because if France decided to do stuff like that, I would be quite ashamed!

[identity profile] aswanargent.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Breathe deeply, Castalie, then go lie down in a dark room with a cool cloth over your eyes.

The minute I saw the tree scene last night I thought about you (remembered how you considered and rejected the possibility of Charlie being the one to die in that lost_in_french "Rumeurs" discussion). I reacted to the tree scene exactly the way you did; I couldn't believe how the writers stretched that out and took us from "Of course Jack is going to revive him" to "OMG it's too late, they've REALLY KILLED CHARLIE OFF", and then finally as we're staring at the screen in shock and denial granted all of us a stay of execution. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster!

You realize, don't you, that in the end the writers were kind? What if the episode had ended midway through that scene and we had to wait until January to find out whether Charlie was alive or dead??!!!!??

Best episode to date.

Will probably try posting some fractured French over at lost_in_french once I can get something coherent set down in English for translation. Maybe tomorrow.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi there *g* Hey call me Mouse, everybody else does *g*

And boy, I should have tried that breathing technique while I was watching the episode because it was almost too much lol

They had me seriously scared worried for a moment because I really thought that they'd decided to surprise us all and that they were going to off one of the characters right in front of me - and a character whose death no one in the audience could have imagined. Damn, they're good, I'll grant them that lol

OMG but you're right! The writers could have ended midway through that scene - it's something they love to do, the evil evil creatures. I should be grateful then, oh yeah.

I second that, best episode to date. It feels like they know how to up the ante, these guys, wow.

You're doing quite well with the whole French thing, so don't hesitate *g*

[identity profile] aswanargent.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Kill off a character -- a major character -- right before our eyes? Oh, yes. On this show, with these writers, I think that's a very real possibility. Actually, it's been done before. A few years ago the Law & Order writers killed off an ADA in an automobile accident barely off camera (we heard the crash, just didn't see the impact); then the camera cut back to the intersection and we saw the wreckage and knew she was inside one of the cars. That episode is still hard to watch, even now.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
This is something I notice more and more, how writers seem to be less and less afraid of killing one of the major characters if they think it does make the storyline better and/or more intense. On one hand, I admire that because it shows they really want to play with their audience, on the other, I always dread the moment when my favourite characters will die because it's always difficult to watch. Being a fan isn't easy in those cases *g*

[identity profile] aswanargent.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean about not wanting to see your favourite characters die. If they just leave the show in some other fashion (retire, move to another city, take another job, etc.) there's always the chance that we'll see them again. If they die, well, then it's only a ghost who might reappear. Don't laugh, but NYPD Blue did that this season by having the ghost of Detective Bobby Simone return to give advice to his former partner. I have no idea how it worked; I stopped watching Blue a few years ago when Law & Order: SVUwas moved into the same time slot on Tuesday night.

I may be tempting fate by saying this, but I THINK there's a core group of 5 Lost characters (and another two just outside this inner circle) who are probably safe from summary execution. In that core group I would put Jack, Kate, Charlie, Sayid, and Sawyer; I think the interplay among them is so strong that the show (and the other 4 characters) would be weakened if any one of them were to leave. Just outside this group I'd put Locke and Hurley. After that, it's open season. I'd be sorry to see Michael or Claire go, for example, but it wouldn't kill the show.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
NYPD Blue did what? *blink* Well, that sounds huh... intriguing. The show started airing again sometime ago over here and I thought I would give it a try since it's a cultish show and everything, but I'm afraid it didn't catch my interest at all. L&O on the other hand really works for me, the CI series in particular *g* SVU is a close second, but CI is my fave *g*

Oh well I really like your theory and would love for the writers to share it. It definitely makes sense so let's hope you're right *crosses fingers*

Law & Order

[identity profile] aswanargent.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Now, for me, CI is the L&O show I like the least. The stories are good, but I can't stand Vincent D'Onofrio and his mannerisms.

Re: Law & Order

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol I like CI so much for the exact reason why you don't - and that sentence sounds awful, but hopefully you'll understand what I meant *g* I really love Alex but I have a thing for quirky geniuses and Bobby is just perfect that way *g*

Re: Law & Order

[identity profile] aswanargent.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Je comprends parfaitement. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this!

As for Detective Eames, I first saw her on Oz where she played a woman sentenced to death for murdering her child. So I have some issues with her as well ... *lol*

[identity profile] oh-mumble.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
So, you just described my entire reaction to that scene, and now I don't need to say anything myself, hee!

But, yes! ::flails:: So very much Jack/Charlie/Locke, and why does no one else see the OT3?! It's Right There, people!

And, oh! Sentinel! I was so very much thinking of that during Lost, because the scenes were so very similar, the pacing and the emotion and the mysticism. ::loves::

How long until January...?

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
So we're on the same page, huh? Sweet *g*

Oh wait, I thought about you the other day. An angel on my flist decided to write a fic for some of us for Christmas and I asked her a Jack/Charlie/Locke and she said she thought she would be able to write one. So we may still get that OT3 story after all! I'm afraid [livejournal.com profile] calichan stopped writing her drabbles, you know? So now? Our hope is focused on [livejournal.com profile] ninkasa lol

Seriously this was like the Fountain scene all over again - only on the really violent side because Jim never whacked Blair that way, ouch! It's a miracle Charlie didn't have a broken rib - one or two for that matter.

How long until January...?

Way too long would be my answer lol But what a way to start the new year *g*

[identity profile] mimine.livejournal.com 2004-12-09 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, that scene was just... even spoiled to death and knowing that the hobbit doesn't die I got choked up. Poor Charlie... But what if he's not the same anymore? What if the island brought him back and not the doctor with his kisses and sweet lovin' mouth to mouth and whacks to the chest? I worry for the poor dear, might be the beginning of the end.

It's official, Jack is absolutely watchable with everyone but Kate. She sucks the life out of every scene she's in. It's all about Jack/Charlie, man, been saying that since Moth.

And that little Sayid/Sawyer scene, how totally cute was that? I loved that Sayid told Sawyer everything, loved that Sawyer believed him and that bit about "your signal fire" aw! I melted. Watched that scene 4 times till i was happy. Sawyer/Sayid (or Sawyid as a friend calls them) are the greatest!!!

And Boone!!! Yay! More Boone and Boone/Locke which was teh hott!!! I really hope Locke isn't evil.

Hmm, you have a point about poor missing Claire but am I horribly evil for saying I didn't really miss her or worry much about what's happening to her? I like her, I just didn't think of her much.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
If you got choked up even though you've been spoiled into next week, can you imagine how I felt since I was spoiler-free? Man, that was a difficult scene to watch, they really did good! Congrats to the writers even if they scared the hell out of pretty much all of us lol

And I totally second that, as soon as Kate appears by his side, the chemistry disappears and the scenes becomes dull. I don't understand her power but she's dangerous! Don't let her go near Jack, guys, don't!!

I'd added Jack/Charlie to my OTPs list right after The Moth too *high fives*

I always say that even though I do see Sayid/Sawyer, it's not a pairing I'm interested in, but having said that, I quite enjoyed their little scene together, alright.

Well, let's be honest, I really remembered about Claire when Charlie was safe and sound - though maybe not totally 'sane', granted. I mean, I really like her, but this episode was just all about Charlie and Jack/Charlie to me lol
greedy_dancer: (cave troll lost)

[personal profile] greedy_dancer 2004-12-10 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
we had both Jack/Charlie + Locked/Charlie
your non-con is showing! hahaha!!

Jack/Charlie OTP1, Locke/Charlie OTP2 and Hurley/Charlie OTP3.
you're such a Chalie slut! lol ... or is your Charlie such a slut? well, same difference. lol

now for the serious stuff ...

i feel the Jack/Charlie love! and god knows Jack still isn't my favourite character, but i can't deny Teh Slash of the episode. not that i'm not usually seeing it, but there! was soooooo obvious. Jack's "where is charlie" ... and he's completely panicked, and he's looking for Charlie and to hell with the fat blonde chick, whatshername, ah, Claire! lol
i also believe in the power of denial so i never truly believed Charlie wasn't coming back. but the denial was fighting with the faith in the writers which means that i kinda believe what i'm shown, so i reacted to it even though i knew he couldn't be dead. was just not an option. that scene was so violent ... *shudders* i thought Kate was gonna puke, seriouly. i would have, too, cause the guy sitting in the mud, pretty much beating up a corpse at that point ... not an pretty sight, eh? and the craddling, and the crying ... *feels the Jack/Charlie*
i also felt the Sawyer/Sayid, hehe. "Sayid is back???". haha. i think Walt has detected something between those two, cause why would he bring it up otherwise? lol

What happened to Claire? something way weirder than what we suspected before the show. how did Ethan drag both Charlie and Claire? why is Charlie so traumatized? (i mean besides having died by hanging) it's as if he doesn't want to say what happened. which makes us want to know even more! ahhh!

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I thought about it and I came to the conclusion that Charlie and I just make a good team because we're both sluts *bows*

Yes yes yes! His first thought was for Charlie and he really sounded panicked and afraid. I couldn't believe my luck and I kept thinking about slashers looking at this episode and seeing the Jack/Charlie love, as in even if someone didn't like that pairing, they couldn't deny it anymore, ya know? lol

I really liked Kate's reaction, she really looked and sounded desperate and totally lost - as if she didn't know what to do to stop Jack but couldn't stand the situation and what he was doing. They were both out of control, but Jack was the best of course - and how lucky we all are that Jack didn't listen to her, btw!

Yes, how did Ethan drag them both, indeed? And Charlie must have seen something really traumatic. He sounds more in denial than anything else... feels like he doesn't want to remember what he saw, what he heard. In any case, he was nicely traumatised and I just enjoyed it because I'm twisted like that *nodnod*

Je te l'envoie de suite, Chef! Et moi je fais encore plus fort - sans avoir demandé à personne, j'ai quand même réussi à avoir ton adresse, donc pas la peine de me la donner, cool hein? lol

Lost, lost, lost, lost....

[identity profile] audrarose.livejournal.com 2004-12-15 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
AAAAHHHHHH!!!!! Okay, I know this is late, and you're probably over it now, but I am so completely still freaked out that I cannot NOT talk about this. *g*

"I thought they'd killed my boy!"
YES! I believed it! And they went on and on and on with it! He was dead, man! and I love Kate again, too, because was that an Oscar-worthy crying performance or what? and, and, and, JACK! he is so in love!!! I won't repeat every word you said, though I so could, but his "Where's Charlie?" just KILLED me. Immediate panic - not concern, not "Where's Claire?" - but panic for the boy! Then the S2P2 moment ::staggers::

and this really meshes with the whole Charlie=Christ imagery thing, doesn't it? and Locke - I'm still thinking evil. He tried to lead Jack away from the right trail, he's still handing out knives to everyone - Boone should get his pretty butt back to the caves. and Claire... toast, probably. oh, well. Ethan was SCARY.

and now I'm kind of getting a Sawyer/Sayid jones - definite redemption in the cards for Sawyer, don't you think? he didn't say he kept THE signal fire going - he said YOUR signal fire, Sayid's signal fire - I think that's significant.

January is far away :( however, they're showing the first 2 eps tonight, so G is psyched, anyway.

Re: Lost, lost, lost, lost....

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2004-12-18 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I'll go over this episode anytime soon because it so freaked me out!

The slash? Even people who don't care about Jack or Charlie or even both saw it *is proud of her OTP1* I really adored the very first moment when Jack realised Charlie was missing and that it might be a bad thing. I couldn't believe my luck when I heard his panicked cry - it was so the cry of someone scared out of his mind for his lover, it was too good *g*

You're right, we may see Locke's behaviour as trying to lead Jack away from Charlie, which sounds... really bad, too and I don't know what to think of that. Locke Locke Locke... you're so mysterious and crytpic!

Yeap, I think they're definitely going the redeemed!Sawyer route now. I mean, it already officially started in the golf scene for me, ie he actively tries to do something for the others and to show them he can be part of them, even if a little bit... and even I liked their little scene together *g*
