Question about... a certain show *cough*
May. 6th, 2005 01:00 amHey Numb3rs fans? I have a quest-- no wait! It's not for me *shakes head* It's er, for a friend, yeah a friend of mine - Kat, that's her name - and she's into that show... LettErs? Yeah LettErs, which is about two cousins who er, fight crime at the CIA and one of them is that language genius and hmm, yes, my friend? She has a question about it *cough* Which you must be grateful for cause look! Something that doesn't have anything to do with, you know, my math show? Yeah.
As coincidence goes, my friend Kat has a question about a particular scene in an episode called "Vector", which was the third episode of the season and if that's not the biggest coincidence ever, I don't know what it is, but really, it's not my fault our shows had the same title at the same time, right? So do you remember "Vector"? Which if you clicked, I suppose you do - anyway, at the hospital, right after Charlie asked about their mother to Don and he's all dejected and sad and Don decides to change the subject and they're having that convo about Charlie doing consultant's work and calling the Big Boss 'Bob' and everything?
Okay something that intrigues me now is the moment when Don tells Charlie: 'Well, you've never been good at keeping secret, remember that' - or something like that - and right this moment the two brothers seems to have quite a heartfelt reaction to Don's words, Charlie not saying anything but looking crushed and - and that's the reaction which intrigues me the most, actually - Don doing that, I don't know, surprised and worried look and going 'Charlie?' as if he's just said something/saw something really important and I'm just... what were they referring to exactly?
Because at first I thought, okay he's just taunting him and Charlie isn't taking it lightly and leaves Don quite disappointed because of Don's comment and sure, Charlie wouldn't like it since obviously he knows how to keep secrets, case in point - or Don was teasing him about telling their dad more than he should have and back to square one, Charlie wouldn't have liked it because a) he still knows how to keep secret, case in point and b) he didn't say anything per se, just tried to protect their father without truly revealing anything - but the scene just seemed... I don't know, really important or something, as if there truly was a deeper meaning here and I'm just completely missing it.
So my question is, did that scene get at least someone a bit curious or am I the only one who saw something, which hi, wouldn't surprise me one bit - but it's just... it suddenly looked so much angstier and maybe even more meaningful than it was supposed to be right this moment, so I can't help but wonder.
Hey I just watched the promo for Lost 1x22 and I got more excited during the ten seconds of it than I did during the episode today - well okay, I'm exaggerating a bit, but I'm trying to make a point here - but that's encouraging because yay excitement!
Oh look at that! My download for That 70s Show 7x22 is finished, woohoo! And I just remembered that I downloaded an episode of Gilmore Girls too, so hurray *clings to BT* Wait, speaking of BT: did novatina disappear or something? I go to btefnet for my tv shows fix, but still... Also, if you have more torrent sites where I can find tv series - I'm all ears.
PS: GIP!
_nightelf is the genius behind it and she was kind enough to share with me when I begged asked *beams*

Date: 2005-05-05 11:18 pm (UTC)I thought exactly the same thing when I saw that episode. Of course, my mind sort of ran off down a track and I hoped that someday that it would be revealed what this secret was... So yeah, you're not the only one. :)

Date: 2005-05-06 12:03 am (UTC)I can't decide if this was a secret Charlie kept and he's pissed off cause Don seems to have forgotten it (in which case I see major angst here) or if Charlie didn't keep the secret (though for me neither of their reactions make sense if that is the case - Charlie's too angsty and Don's not enough).
Also, on a purely shallow note Charlie is very sexy as he walks away and for some odd reason I am drawn to Don's bow legged pose. Ahem.

Date: 2005-05-06 12:00 pm (UTC)(Funny because by all rights I was meant to become a [pervy] Charlie fancier; then Don came along, a certain fannish brainstorming happened *waves to NightElf* and there I woke up as a [pervy] Don fancier.)

Date: 2005-05-06 06:54 am (UTC)I'm with you, it's like I saw something - obviously - but I have no idea what it means or if even means anything because when it comes down to it, the whole scene didn't make sense to me. Not that I didn't like it btw, because I certainly did *eg*
On a shallow note, I know what you mean, but I was drawn to Charlie all the way here cause... just cause? lol Also, I noticed that throughout the whole episode Charlie wore shirts/coats that had too long sleeves - don't know whether it's a recurrence or not - and that was too cute! Ahem too.
Thanks for replying to my

Date: 2005-05-06 04:16 pm (UTC)hee! You and me, hon. I love, love, love Don, but Charlie... arglarglargl.
I think Don is the guy you'd actually date, and Charlie is the guy you'd become completely obsessed by, break your heart into pieces for, and then spend the next year of your life trying to get over.
Now I have to go watch Vector again. 0_0

I think the boys don't have to be jealou of each other - they both have passionate fangirls obsessing over them *nodnod*
Yes, please watch "Vector" again, I'll hopefully get more insights after you all do *g*
Also, are you going to post your thoughts about the pilot? You know, you said you'd watched it again and had some more stuff to say about it? Cause I watched it again the other day too and I paid attention to even more things than the first time, so I wouldn't mind discussing them with someone...

I still don't use any torrent client - I'm slowly easying my way to BT life after all, and now I'm scared lol But if everything went back to normal... well, it's of the good.
And I'll be waiting, hurray! *g*

Date: 2005-05-06 06:56 am (UTC)Thing is it, they both react oddly - to me, I mean - and just... it doesn't really make sense if you consider that moment, you know? Or it could make sense but it's playing out oddly, anyway.

Also re: The
Not SoSekrit Thing? I was going to mail to let you know that chances are I won't be there for SG-1 [I mean, I'll be able to watch it, but not here] - so should we both break the Great Computer Curse, it'll be for SG:A only *crosse fingers*no subject
Date: 2005-05-06 11:46 am (UTC)Like, w0rd! :D
I remember vaguely the scene in question, but as time passed I forgot where I saw it and assimilated it to fanon (because it seemed too good to be canon!) :>
And yeah, with the 'watching it for the maths' at the time O:-)

Date: 2005-05-07 10:58 am (UTC)Now, as to Charlie's reaction to it, part of it looked to me as if Charlie was peeved because Don was demeaning his professional abilities or trustworthiness in the present because of that past thing. (As if he'd said "OMG they trusted you with top secret business?") The other part was "OMG I can't believe you're still twisting the knife on that, meanie!" - whatever that is.
And to paraphrase Charlie, oh, wouldn't we like to know ;-) I mean, it makes Charlie leave stomping out; and it was just right after the conversation about their mother, which must have opened some wounds for both.
Oh, or: Charlie can't understand how Don can not want to tell everything to their father if it's the only thing that can keep him in the house, secrecy be damned.
And so on. :D

Date: 2005-05-15 09:41 am (UTC)Alright so it's been quite some time now but anyway, we do agree there might have been something here... Now the question is, if there was, what was it? And if the writers never intended to have us all wonder because, in truth, nothing happens here, well they should have asked their actors to play the scene differently because it just reallys looks like there's something deep hidden behind that tiny moment.
no subject
Date: 2005-05-15 12:32 pm (UTC)Though maybe it was meant to refer only the present situation, with Charlie almost telling their father the Big Secret, and a bit overplayed because it was the episode where Charlie had to look quirkier and touchier than usual.

Date: 2005-05-15 12:41 pm (UTC)Yeah but it's not so much Charlie's reaction as Don's that I thought was strange compared to the moment. It's like it's Don who really was the catalyst for The Question regarding that scene *is still puzzled*
