This is Daniel's Appreciation Week... okay, you mean to tell me that sometimes it's not? You're so funny! lol I don't believe you anyway. Or yeah, I do, but that's not how it happens in my world *g* I love and appreciate my brilliant-sweet-pain-in-the-ass-bitchy-arrogant-compassionate-whiny-strong-whumpy!Daniel all the time - go, Danny!

Though Jack does the loving and appreciating of his Daniel so much better than me *eg*

And I also saw this 10 Unpopular Fannish Opinions meme going on again - this time about SG, so I couldn't resist, of course *g*

1) I'm going to start with the biggest unpopular opinion here - I don't like Jack's dumb routine. It gets on my nerves like you wouldn't believe, sometimes to the point that I want to shake him and remind him he's smart and why can't he just stop with his stupid act dammit, it's not funny! It's part of his make-up and a little bit of it makes me smile, it's part of Jack all right - it's why everyone else loves him apparently - among other things, I mean - but when it seems it's all of him, it's just not amusing me at all. Him being sarcastic and witty is one thing, him playing dumb all the damn time is another, I really dislike it.

2) I don't think Jack's blatant disrespect for other cultures and civilisations is amusing either - he's not being witty to me here, just disrespectful. Show a little respect, man, you're not on your turf.

3) I wish they gave us a break with the whole Jack/Sam thing because it really bores me to death - I don't see any chemistry between them and I can't believe in that ship. To me, this is a ship that can't sink because it never left the land, so there. And N.O, it's not because I'm a slasher, sorry to disappoint - see, slashers can think separately from their ships, it happens to me all the time *gasp* You see chemistry or you don't... here... I don't even see the beginning of it. Then again, I'm happy the J/S shippers have subtext to work with like we slashers do, of course *cough*

4) I don't dislike Pete. Why? Just because I happen to think Sam and he look cute together. I can't say I'm that interested in their story either, but I can believe in it, it's enough somehow.

5) I don't hate Oma Desala.

6) I think the SGC is really arrogant - they expect everyone to agree with them and to give them whatever they want and when others don't they're not happy and throw a tantrum - poor babies who can't accept that others think differently than them and can't accept that others would dare tell 'no' to them. Hmm, reminds me of something from RL, what could it be??

7) The SGC should accept the fact that they're not the only ones on this Earth who want to defend the planet, and stop with the cowboy attitude. Accept to share your knowledge and stop whining about it! Do I need to remind you that technically the Stargate you're using isn't yours anyway? It wasn't, oh horror, found in the US - so if you want to talk about ownership and rights, maybe you should re-think some things in the first place.

8) TPTB aren't here to bow to your wishes - they write the show, they decide what to do with their characters - you may not like it, but that's how it is. Besides, how do you want someone to write something that will please all parties? News flash, it's impossible. TPTB are here to write whatever they want and that's what they'll do.

9) On the same vein, characters don't belong to you - even if they behave in a manner that you find embarrassing and/or appalling, you'll have to deal with it - and eventually stop with the hate campaigns, it makes fans look stupid. Which is why if TPTB decide to hook Jack and Sam together, I'll just go with the flow. I'll find it ridiculous and not credible at all don't get me wrong, and I'll dislike it and... that will be all. I'll just 100% turn to fanfics. Same thing if RCC decides to proceed with his 'problem with men being close to each other' - I don't know what he meant exactly by that and what he wants to do with it, but even if he does something that displeases me (and messing with the Jack-Daniel friendship definitely would piss me off, believe me) I'll survive - here again, I'll turn to fics. We're lucky enough to have fanfiction to give us what the show doesn't, we should rejoice! *g*

10) Hmm what about a tenth... I'm sure I have a tenth somewhere... okay wait, let's try this one : having a wanky fandom is annoying. And if slashers can be bitchy and stupid and definitely crazy and wanky too (re : the obsession of some concerning Sam), I'm still happy to be one and not a shipper because the biggest wanks seem to come from their side of the spectrum and I'd hate for other crazy shippers to make my side look stupid.

Man, those Unpopular Opinions things always look like wanks-in-the-making to me lol Though it shouldn't because why do you care if someone doesn't agree with you? What's the big deal, right?

But hey, when all has been said and done, I love SG to pieces - yes, even with some of the # on my list - perfection is boring, and doesn't exist anyway *g* It's one of my favourite shows and obviously one of my main fandoms and I don't see it stopping anytime soon. I don't care about other fans or crazy wanks, they're of no importance to me - there's no way those could drive me away, so there, hail to my beloved show! *kisses it*

Now for something different - though not completely - I'm really impatient for ship_manifesto to update today because it's Jim/Blair, Jack/Daniel and Duncan/Methos Day, woohoo! Oh and I saw that Teal'c/Daniel will have its turn too, woohoo again. Yes, Teal'c/Daniel is my backup OTP in SG, so sue me lol Daniel belongs to Jack, but sometimes I'll enjoy Teal'c doing the claiming *glassy eyes*

Re: ship_manifesto and Angel/Wesley - wow, I still feel the love strongly! lol Found some really nice fics yesterday. I was a happy fic hunter *g*

Finally, news on my sister to those who showed concern for her, thanks guys *g* Well, the doctor appointment never happened! He had an emergency of some sorts and couldn't come. Since she was just sore, she stayed home without complaining, but she's having trouble moving her left side today so the doc better come this time.

ETA: Oh hey, they found two new planets? I love this kind of news, seems so incredible and so... astronomic! lol *cocks head* Ah the siren is telling me it's noon - that and that we're the first Wednesday of the month, and I guess it's nice to know those sirens are in working order *shrug* - and huh it's reminding me that I'm hungry, too lol Didn't eat since lunch yesterday so yeah...

Hey, I am also a HUGE Staragte Fan (as well as a HUGE slash fan hehehe) and I owuld just like to say that there is not just two of you! I hate Jacks dumbass routine aswell. Yes its funny and amuses us fans during some scenes, its been done to death!

Oh it is good, it is *g* Blair (the younger one) came to live at Jim's for a week after his home got blown up... and never left! They're very close together, and Jim is always touching Blair, and not just manly pats on the back like in some shows, they're like really touchy-feely toward each other.

Let's not talk about Jim's reaction when Blair was declared clinically dead, or the way he cradled him close when Blair got drugged... or the time when Blair sacrificed everything for Jim or any other time. Yeah, let's not lol

Word, yo. Me and Miriam watched some... thing on a DVD (the Lowdown? It had a lot about Teal'c smashing arse) and Mim started yelling at RDA's "jak iz teh thik omg". It was funny. And also sad.

As far as I know there is a MASSIVE amount of people who hate that, either because of slash reasons, or because they don't want a shippy show, or they hate what it is doing to the characters, or they hate how it makes the military look. SG is very often about double standards. SG-1 and the whole SGC will do stuff they won't accept from others, and will expect things from others they're not willing to give themselves - without apparently never thinking about how unfair and downright annoying it can be.

I don't hate her, either - I'm mostly apathetic and not sure quite what to make of her, or what the authorial intent is there. Like, is she supposed to be generally good or not? I really can't tell.

Huh, where'd you see that? I missed that one somehow. And he wrote some of the slashiest episodes - I think the one from this season with the line "he's interfacing with the Daniel Jackson" was his - so that surprises me.

RCC didn't say that, this is just one interpretation that we decided could be true and that we didn't exactly appreciate - the article (http://www.gatewatch.org/news/jackdaniel.shtml) that brought up the 'issue' in the fandom doesn't exactly says much, it's like one of those lines that can have many meanings - the thing is one of those is pretty negative *shrug*

I just read that editorial for the first time, not really sure what the big deal is. Maybe RCC and MW have some sort of Anti-slash background that I'm unfamiliar with or something but that article just reads way OTT and melodramatic to me.

For all we know, he could mean 'acknowledge' (the friendship) instead of 'deal with' and he just worded it badly, isn't there such thing as positive/optimistic stuff in fandom anymore? ;)

Huh, now that you mention it, the interview that they quote from is very likely a real interview. Of course, I agree with your above point that the writer of the editorial took it to mean something negative, when we don't really know that for fact.

But yeah, we don't need to stress ourselves out with what might or might not happen. We're probably better off just watching the show and enjoying it, and turning to fic to supplement our enjoyment ;) Why stress ourselves? Hee!

Well, the very first fic I found was one hell of a good story. It's called Strategy (http://countylimerick.prohosting.com/fanfiction/buffy/so_strategy.htm) and was written by The Brat Queen. That being said, bear in mind that even though I know Buffy's Angel and Wesley, I don't really know the Angel's one --if it makes sense-- and the story could very well be totally 100% and I wouldn't even know. The truth is, I wouldn't care right now, because this story? Hit so many of my kinks that dismissing it sounds painful to my ears! lol

It's dark and contains Connor/Wesley as well as Angel/Wesley, though the real pairing if Angel/Wesley... can you say 'non-con' and 'slavery'? I sure can *eg*
