Et toujours, nous ne trouvions rien.
Oct. 12th, 2004 01:28 pmI was a happy camper yesterday because they stopped airing SV and replaced it by The Pretender - woohoo! I like M6 and its endless reruns *g* So now I have SG and TP in a row. And they're also airing John Doe again on Saturday! That show was a surprise because I wasn't really interested in it then when I wasn't looking I got totally hooked. Go figure *shrug* Of course, if it's aired at the exact same time as L&O:CI, I'm going to face a dilemma because I can't abandon Bobby and Alex. No sirre.
Oh and I had a mini-dilemma last night too. On M6 was a movie with Winona Ryder whom I love so very much and on France3 they had Interview with the Vampire - yes, I know, my life is so cruel. Anyway, I hesitated for a sec but when I realised what kind of movie it was, I quickly went back to F3 because hey Interview with the Vampire guys! With wee!Kirsten Dunst and yeah all right, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise too lol
I realised it had been a very long time since I last watched it because I'd totally forgotten William Coryn dubbed Brad Pitt/Louis. So who's William Coryn? He's the same actor who dubs MS/Daniel in SG. Louis' voice wasn't the same of course - I mean, they don't use their voices the same way when they play different characters and Louis' voice was... darker somehow. He spoke slowly and the timbre was deeper... I really liked it *g* And something funny --well, I thought it was funny at least-- was that Christian Slater was dubbed by the same actor who dubs David Boreanaz/Angel, and I couldn't help thinking 'Man, you are supposed to be the vampire!'.
Yeah anyway. I was supposed to be just posting this *points below*
greedy_dancer has been playing with the Interview meme and I asked her to do me. I know this little pun is getting old, but I can't help it, I love it.
1) What would be worse: LJ being down for two weeks, or your computer rebooting each time you're reading a sex scene for a month?
Well, I see we start with the difficult questions. Okay, let's try to be practical. I read slash without sex scenes sometimes so I could still read slash on my computer... I'd have to find a way to save the smutty fics to read them differently but I could do it and a month wouldn't be so bad in that case. But no LJ for two weeks? Like... two weeks? No.way! I can't use LJ anywhere else so two weeks without LJ would equal no slash at all for like... two months. So yeah, in the end, I'd pick Clark being neurotic when he would read smut for a month as long as he worked with all the other fics and LJ.
2) If the one way you could still access slash was by reading it aloud to a room full of your relatives, would you give it up?
I wouldn't give up. I would just find another way to do it lol
3) Wankage and Flames: develop.
Oh boy. One word : stupid. Well no three : stupid and useless. I don't get wankage and flames. I mean, I really don't. Though it comes down to the fact that people are never satisfied about anything, they always have to bitch and rant over the smallest things and they're not happy until they shouted to the world how unhappy they are about something - no matter how stupid or trivial it is. It certainly shows how intolerant people are yes, but --to me-- it also shows how 'unconfident' they are about a lot of things.
Like, I'll be saying 'I don't believe in Sam/Jack because I don't think there's even the slightest spark between them' and people will start a wank over my statement. And the only thing that comes to my mind is 'Why are you going on the defensive/offensive, man? I just gave you my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm criticising your ship, it doesn't mean I'm telling you to stop shipping those two. It just means that I don't like it, what do you care?' Lots of people laugh at the idea of J/D together, people sometimes hate Daniel - why would I start a wank over it? We all have different views of a same thing. Just because someone doesn't agree with my own vision doesn't mean said vision is wrong - it doesn't negate it... so I don't feel the need to start ugly wankage over it and I certainly refuse to get obnoxious and downright insulting. I have enough confidence in what I like not to feel insulted or attacked when someone expresses a total opposite opinion.
Now the flames, as in feedback flames? Think they're stupid too. I know that telling readers that if they don't like something they should just stop reading is becoming a heresy but I don't care. I still firmly believe that if you don't like something, you just should stop doing it. And if you choose to proceed and read a whole fic even though it's driving you crazy because yes, it's also your right after all? Well it's still be your own fault or your responsibility. I'm sure you had your reasons, we always have reasons to do things. Maybe you just like to upset yourself, maybe you like to rant and you need new material, maybe you had a bad day and reading something you don't like will help you express all your anger - all right, that's not where the problem comes from. But why would you punish the writer afterward because you chose to do something like that? You had enough time on your hands to waste it doing something distasteful to you, for a reason of your own, but it's not a reason to use this free time to flame someone who, usually, even warned you about the content of the fic. They don't have anything to do with the whole thing.
If someone wanted to do something they hated, it's their right and yes, they also have the right to rant privately - but to attack the author? Isn't fair to me.
I usually see it like this : like going to a party. So okay there's a party and the theme is, say, country music. You hate country music, you always did. You think it's stupid, you hate the atmosphere, there's nothing that even remotely interests you in that kind of thing. But you? Decide to go for whatever reason. And you have a crappy time. Everything is bad, you don't like the slightest thing but you stay until the end... and when the party is over? You actually go to the people who organised the party to yell and rant and vent about how crappy it was, how boring, how whatever. Well, don't be surprised if everyone takes you for a fool. I'm pretty sure people wouldn't even do that in RL. So why do they feel the need to do it in CL? There's a definitely double-standard applied to life on-line... and when you're in the fandom, you see it pretty much everywhere, I think.
4) Oh no! They cancelled SG-1 AND The Sentinel! Write a complaint letter to M6.
You mean if they cancelled for good? Because they cancel TS on a regular basis though they air it again several months later. So what if they cancelled SG and TS for good?
What about : Why did you do that? Why why why? Do you hate me, is that it? Did we know each other in a previous life and I killed you and your all family and now you decided to get your revenge? Please choose another way to have me atone for my past sins because this is just too cruuuuuuuuel!
Tough to be honest? I wouldn't write a complaint to M6 lol I have this thing about not doing stuff that would be wasting my time or that I think isn't worth it - and believe it or not but tv shows belong to that category - not even kidding lol
5) Charlie gets killed by a giant scallop. For how long does Sayid have to mourn him before he's allowed to get hisapples rocks off with Sawyer?
This one is easy, because see Charlie won't EVER be killed by a giant scallop nor by anything else btw, so Sayid won't ever have to mourn for him. But thanks for the concern, anyway *bows*
Thanks, girl, that was fun lol
Oh and I always forget - if someone wants me to interview them, comment and I'll do you.

1- I don't know a lot about Sweden and I'm curious as to how you see your own country. So if you could describe it in three words, what would they be? And explain *g*
2- What's the first thing you do in the morning? Except from killing the alarm clock for instance lol
3- Would you sell your soul to keep LJ going? Or someone else's? And if the first two propositions seemed a bit OTT and you want a real question : would you see yourself abandon LJ altogether and maybe delete your account one of these days?
4- Some people hate Daniel. Defend our boy to them, please pretty please?
5- James Spader!Daniel or Michael Shanks!Daniel?

2- I don't think you have RPS listed on your interests list even though you're sorta deep in it, so... did you omit it for a reason or is it because you're not going to list every single thing you're interested in on-line, thank you very much!
3- Speaking of RPS... what's the attraction, man, seriously? I actually know because, hel-LO huge Daveslash fan here *waves* but it's for the meme's sake, all right? So yeah.
4- Is being a fangirl really important to you?

Dammit, you always have to ruin things, don't you?
Man, I'd forgotten how fun this meme could be! lol Though please? Could you try to have replies that are at least a bit longer than my questions? Because otherwise I'd feel, like, I'm unable to do things in a concise and short way or something!
1- You used to be all righteous and indignant when someone suggested you could download stuff from the net and now you're going into withdrawal if you don't download a certain series... what do you have to say for yourself, missy?
2- To what length will you go to watch an episode of Lost?
3- Methos v Kronos... who wins? And let's forget about the little Methos-manipulated-everyone-and-had-Duncan-kill-Kronos thing, all right?
4- Seriously, Derek is like the least slashable character ever... but let's pretend you just lost a stupid bet and you had to write the worst story of your career and had to slash him with another unlikely slashable character, who would that be and what kind of story? Well I told you it was a stupid bet!
5- And now a last weird question to confuse you more after #4 - Vincent Cassel suddenly comes out as a slasher and asks people to slash him with another actor just for the fun of it... who would you choose? Or would you refuse to engage in such a distasteful activity anyway?
