I think I should warn you that this might be a pretty disjointed post. Not that all my posts are actually organised and flowing and whatnot in the first place, mind you, but sometimes they'll strike me as seriously disjointed, so you're, well, warned...

Okay so first... what's this shit about next week's Lost being a rerun? No new episode? *wide eyes* Why? WHY? *wails*

Also, I think I mentioned in a previous post how I embrace my patheticness, right? Well I'm doing it again and claiming to the world - or, you know, my LJ, that I really really want those Lost trading cards, and I? Want them now! *stamps foot*

After talking about Angel with [livejournal.com profile] moimoietmoi - who's incidentally is the newest French slasher I added to my flist *pokes other members of the French Posse* - yesterday, I watched some episodes again and officially decided that I would treat myself with a new box set after I'm done with my finals, because I haven't watched a single new episode in around two weeks and I miiiiissss my Angel marathon each night *sniffles*

Since I wanted something new, I friendfriends surfed and found some new Angel icons and some fic recs, including a very cute though also beautifully angsty story featuring mini!Wes, ie adult Wes being turned into a child [well, it's actually a tad more complicated than that, but you get the gist of it], namely The Very Best Time of the Year by [livejournal.com profile] eloise_bright, and I came to the realisation that this is also one of my kinks... those kid!stories. I actually have kid!Daniel and kid!Blair - with or without kid!SG1 for the former and kid!Jim for the latter - folders and I'll try and gather some new kid!Wes because ohhhhhhhhhhh the cuteness of it! *happy sigh*

And then I realised that I had, myself, a kid!Blair and kid!Jim story, for real I mean - only... it's an AU and is a bit complicated but well, technically that's still Blair and Jim and really, I have too many WIPs out there *sigh*

Considering this story is obviously gen, I was amused at myself because ah! See? I can write gen, after all, and then I thought of my other WIPs and came back to slash, because obviously slash is never really far from my mind and I wondered... how do you say top/bottom in other languages? What's the equivalent? Linguistics can be quite interesting... so yeah, we have top/bottom in English, actif/passif in French and seme/uke in Japanese... what about in other languages?

On a final note now. The 4400 is coming soon! They just showed a trailer on M6 - yay! What about Lost now, huh? Gimme a date, a D.A.T.E, please!

Ohh, I'm soft for kidstories too, even if they're too cute. :))

Almost unbearably cute, sometimes lol

And hey! You over there, yes you, the Swedish girl... so, how do you say top/bottom in your language? *g*

Uhh. Let me think...in worst case, I think we use the English words top/bottom...
Let me ask! :))

Lexie? I need your help. What´s the titles of the books you loved so much a couple of months ago? You know, the ones about the cop who was protecting the abused witness? Err, you know what I´m talking about? *sweatdrops* A friend of mine will be ordering some books from Amazon and offered to share the post charges, but I need the titles ASAP!!! Helpie?

Ouch, I'm afraid I'm not sure what books you're referring to here, Kati. The abused witness thing reminds me of Jo Bannister's Brodie Farell series, starting with Echoes of Lies... is that the one you were thinking about? Or were you talking about the queer book I read not so long ago, ie Josh Lanyon's series, this one starting with Fatal Shadows, cause there's a cop here as well...

No, it was the Jo Bannister series. I am sure of it because it was not gay, but you loved it anyway because of the dynamics between the characters :)

Thank you! You´re a life saver, really! :D

That series is one of my favourites - Daniel Hood is a fascinating character, as are Brodie and Jack, and yes the dynamic between them all is, well, just incredible *g*

You're welcome - that purchase is really worth it *g*

Hm, unfortunately, they don´t have the first book of Bannister´s neither the one from Lanyon. But I ordered Lanyon´s second one and the next three from Bannister. Too bad that they don´t have the rest. :(

They don't have Echoes of Lies? Oh man, that's too bad! Where did you look?

As for the first volume, I really had trouble finding it too - as a matter of fact, I had to ask a friend of mine who went to London for a little trip to buy it for me. Or else, it seemed like an impossible mission *sigh* I started with the second volume, like you - but you shouldn't be disappointed, anyway *g*

I was looking for it on the Amazon US. But they don´t have it there and neither on the Amazon UK. I will read the 2nd-4th volume and if I really like it that much (I´m sure I will) I will ask Tai if she could buy it for me and send it to me. Or maybe bring it with her when she will visit me in August :)

I ordered the first volume of Lanyon´s book too. Is it that good too?

The two volumes, Fatal Shadows and A Dangerous Thing are a hit! I have the feeling you'll love Jake/Adrien - I'm just sayin' *g*

And what did catch your attention mostly? Well, besides the fact that it´s about a gay detective, that is :P

What caught my attention --apart from the fact that it's queer lit-- is how the characters are portrayed. There's the out-of-the-closet sweet Adrien who has a weak heart and the still-in-the-closet-who-likes-to-fuck-strangers-in-clubs hard and tough Jake. But even Jake knows there's something going on with Adrien and it's quite touching seeing how their relation develops... in particular in the second volume when they're together. Jake is this tough guy that has a lot to learn about, you know, making love as opposed to fucking, and he's slowly discovering that he can be affectionate and tender without his macho self suffering from it. He's both a neanderthal and a protective guy toward Adrien... they just have to work on it. So yeah, the characters are really interesting and touching *g*
