Well, I did say I was coming down with something, didn't I? It hit me like whoa on Saturday night and I slept through most of Sunday, which also means that I had a whole day of revisions totally ruined. Let's just say I wasn't pleased at all. Am feeling a tad better today since a) I was finally able to eat something this morning and b) hi, I'm updating, but I'm nowhere near steady enough on my feet to leave the house, which in turn means that I had to cancel going to a concert tonight and huh... that pleased me even less *sigh* It wasn't just any concert either, oh no, it was like The Big One, namely Le Train des Enfoirés ie the Restos du Coeur concert which is a huge thing over here, where I would have seen around fifty-ish of the most famous French artists in one place... I'm just... not a happy camper.

So yeah.

I still succeeded in doing one thing yesterday though - when I woke up enough to feel like I belonged to this world again - not that my belonging to this world meant I wanted to leave my bed by then, mind - I suddenly had a craving for some good anime, so I picked my Saiyuki DVDs for a mini marathon - and really, I think I could watch Fated Guys - The Scarlet Curse and Be There - Hymn for the Living a million times and I would still love those episodes as much as I did the very first time I watched them. They're brilliant beyond the telling of it *is in love*

Yes, that's the only interesting thing I did yesterday. And when I say 'interesting', I obviously speak for myself here *g*

Also, I scanned my flist and saw the Pick One of My Interests and Ask Me About It meme going around again, so I'll play too - what can I say, I think this meme is amusing *shrug*

Officially Blaired Danieled gacked from [livejournal.com profile] scrollgirl

- Scan my interest list and pick out the one that seems the most odd to you.
- I'll explain it.
- Then if you want, post this in your journal so other people can ask you about your interests.

I'm sick, man, you can't blame a sick Mouse for doing a little meme, right? *Bambi eyes*

Aww, poor Mouse. Get well soon!

Your interests seem rather straightforward :P, and the stuff I don't know is probably fandoms I have no idea about. Still, who/what is 'barjavel'?

(I was waiting for someone to post something! Am at work bored out of my head :D)

Thank you. I'm finally feeling better today *g*

My interests are pretty straightforward, aren't they? That's what I realised when I checked them out yesterday lol

So okay, Barjavel - René Barjavel is a famous French author [1911-1985] who's renown for his sci-fi work. It's not like, regular sci-fi with, I don't know, aliens and stuff, it's a more subtle take at that genre. He wrote two of my favourite books of all time, namely La Nuit des Temps and Le Grand Secret and I'm afraid I have no idea whether they were translated in English or other langages, sorry *g*

What is funny is that I started with Ravage which I didn't enjoy at all. I was 14 and had a whole list of books to read for school and I started with this one and wow, it bored me. But people kept telling me I hadn't started with the 'right' book of Barjavel's, so I didn't give up and tried Le Grand Secret next and oh man, it blew me away! I read several of his books, and even though I really loved them all [except Ravage but maybe I should give it a try again *ponders*] and they're all among the books I could never give away, the two I mentioned above really can't compare, in my eyes. They're just that brilliant *g*

Ah, I might have to look for this writer. Subtle SF sounds like my type :)

Considering that I never heard about him, though, it's possible he wasn't translated... If only I could haul my lazy rear to l'Institut Francais, they have a big library but one needs to be registered there, and it's a whole paperwork hassle.

Well, I'm not telling you you'll love his work and everything because I usually don't like to make assumptions --unless it's one of my closest friends, ie when it's someone I know almost by heart lol-- but if you feel curious already, I'd really recommend you to give it a try, yes.

Oh and I feel bad because I forgot to mention La Faim du Tigre which is a pure gem, too, but it's not a fiction per se, it's... well, it's complicated but it's just different *g*

I'm not assuming either, because I know we two have very different tastes in some things; f.e. I would be throughly squicked by even one episode of that prison tv series (Oz?), and I flee from torture and rape fics like other people flee from fluff.

(Nice alliteration there, enigel. *pats self on the head* See, I have chocolate but I really need sleep; it makes me a little strange :D)

Waah! You're not well! *cuddles you*

Okay, enough cuddling. I don't do these meme things, but I couldn't pass up this one: Tobias Beecher. mwhahahahah!

Tell me about why you're interested in the most dysfunctional man to ever bend over in a prison. Chris! *swoon*

Heh. Okay so it's self explanatory, but I don't think we've perved together in a while, so.. *grins*

I'm running off to bed so take your time, and I'll check in the morning. Feel better! *goes back to cuddling you and kisses you all over*

Thank you *cuddles closer*

Tell me about why you're interested in the most dysfunctional man to ever bend over in a prison.

You mean apart from that? lol

Seriously, how many characters do you know of whom you could stay stuff like See this Tobias was sent to prison because he killed a child while driving and being drunk. Then on his first day he attracts the attention of Mean Guy #1 who'd like to fuck his ass but he's rescued by Pseudo Nice Guy who actually turns into Psycho Nazi Guy #1 who on his first night rapes Tobias and brands a swastiska on his ass. Then he rapes him on a regular basis and humiliates him, well Toby is his prag, you know? Then he becomes crazy and then he turns into a slut oh and yeah this feral alpha male guy Chris comes in and pretends to love him but it's a trick because Chris? Works for Vern and they break both his arms and legs. No, I'm not kidding. But thing is, Chris? He sorta loved Toby anyway and wants to have him back, like whoa and then, yeap, they're together for a while but they break up again but they still have this thing going on, so Toby becomes a slut to have Chris jealous and then Chris kills the guys who sleeps with his baby, and huh... I prefer to stop here cause it turns really sad in the end AND you would still be talking about CANON?? Huh, how many characters do you know who actually have that kind of canon story? *dies*

What's not to love, man *happy and pervie sigh*

*goes back to cuddling you and kisses you all over*

Yeap, I really wasn't feeling well. Am feeling better today though, thanks *kisses*

Le studio CLAMP is a group of four mangaka [though I don't know if there's a plural to that word *ponders*] who gave birth to a bunch of awesome manga, two of which are among my all time faourites, namely X, and Tokyo Babylon. Do you know/have you heard about Card Raptor Sakura? CLAMP is the mothers *g*

They have a style that Babycakes and I purely and simply adore, and they also always include some slashy vibes or some downright gay characters in their stories, which, of course, is a nice bonus each time lol

So sorry you're feeling bad; I'll send magical vibes your way to help you recover faster.

Here's a little grin for you (I hope). Thanks to four years of high school French, I can read simple sentences. But remember that I'm a horse-lover. So I read, "This is the story of a filly - she is sick." Whoops! Nononono! I mean a GIRL, a GIRL, honest! *g*

I assume you know that "filly" is a young (less than 3 years) female horse.

You're sweet, thanks *g* Enfin bon, j'irais l'année prochaine, c'est pas grave *crosses fingers, knocks wood*

Ah! Le Donjon de Naheulbeuk - it's an hilarious parody of heroic fantasy whose series is available on-line. The site is here (http://www.penofchaos.com/warham/donjon.htm). Don't know if you know of François Perusse and his Les 2 Minutes du Peuple, but it was one of Pen of Chaos's inspiration. Pen of Chaos being the guy who worked on the parody *g*

I have the whole series on CDs and no matter how many times I listen to it, I still laugh like crazy. It's exactly the kind of humour that gets me every time. Don't know if you'd like it but I'm a big fan *g*

So, Pen of Chaos. It's the moniker of the guy who created the whole Donjon de Naheulbeuk (http://www.penofchaos.com/warham/donjon.htm) universe, a hilarious parody of Lord of the Rings heroic fantasy in an mp3 format which is available on-line. Based on the style used by François Pérusse and his Les 2 Minutes du Peuple, if it rings a bell *g* So yes, it's in French btw *g*

I love the interests meme. Gives me a chance to look at people's interest lists again - as if it wasn't a favourite pastime of mine anyway. XD

So, tell me about 'erotic power exchange'. ^___________^

Date: 2005-01-25 01:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
Am feeling better already, thanks. Your fluffy blanket was quite nice *wraps it even tighter around self*

Erotic power exchange. Love that one *g* Obviously, BDSM is a favourite theme of mine. I say 'obviously' because I sorta talk about it on a regular basis, btw *g*

I think there's few things as erotic as two people engaged in a Dom/sub [or Master/slave] scene - there's something quite powerful about it, which gets to me every time. How one will give away his control to someone they trust, and how one will accet this trust and will take control of the other. If I like the expression 'erotic power exchange' in particular, it's because it's supposed to show everyone who thinks BDSM is so wrong and only performed by dysfunctional people that they couldn't be more wrong. When it's done right --as it's supposed to-- it's indeed nothing less than a power exchange, ie two strong individuals who choose to partake in a particular kind of play consensually - also, how can you give away something you don't have in the first place? The sub isn't weak nor are they a victim. They're strong enough to give up their control to another, and seriously, if that's not a proof of strenght, I don't know what is. I usually see this expression as a sort of statement on my part, even if I'm the only who sees it that way lol

Hmm, did I make sense, here?

Lol How many would you have taken, then?

You know that I'm also into anime, right? I don't talk about it as much as the rest, but anime and manga are a big part of my DVD-watching/reading - a big part. Fruits Basket (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=348) is one of those [manga first, which in turn gave birth to the anime, as it's often the case]. I started with the anime actually and followed with the manga, because when you're greedy for details, you usually have to turn to the manga [like with movies, I mean. Better read the book if you're detail thirsty *g*].

It's one of those brilliant anime that can, in the same episode, make me laugh like I won't ever stop and make me cry, that can in the same story make my heart sing one sec and break it the second. It's that brilliant *g* What amuses me is that's on the surface one of those funny and cute and unassuming little story. Not like Evengelion or Lain for instance, which I suppose you may not know, but suffice to say those two are just... very deep and serious and everything. And it shows right from the start.

But FB takes you by surprise. It's more than what you think - it's a story on difference, tolerance, loneliness, acceptance, love and family.

Well, I just love it *g*
