Do they really say that the Sentinel fandom is dead? I think they do, and the more I think about it, the more I want to laugh. But hey, we all need a good laugh now and then make that all the time, so why not? *g* And I know how some people always say it's dead because they think MLs are The Only Valid Community and LJ is Just Rubbish, but to me, TS as a fandom really came to life when I joined LJ - slowly at first because it felt like everyone was dispatched and there was no gathering point, but now? You can't say stuff like that - well, no, you can, but don't feel surprised if people laugh in your face *g* Sure it's not SG or heaven forbid HP, but just because a fandom is tiny, doesn't mean it's non-existent per se *shrug* I feel totally estranged from TS as far as MLs go, but on LJ? I feel right at home [/sap]

Hmm yes, this little pointless comment was brought to you by some of the more recent talks on TS place on LJ and how it's been discovered that Jim isn't the only one who can go all territorial when he wants to lol

So! I feel fine and rested today. No trace of the Big Bad Bug that knocked me out the past few days, yay! Also, flist? You're so sweet *hugs flist*

I managed to catch up with my revisions which makes me quite chipper and I also found time to watch some DVDs and to start my own response for sentinel_thurs, which is actually the most incredible point of the story *wide eyes* Mind you, the fic is, huh... not finished or anything but it's still there. And I'm not lying, audrarose - and even alinewrites as a matter of fact - read it and everything. Actually no, this is also the incredible point of the story, ie Audra and I finally succeeded in catching each other on Y!M! For real! Will wonders ever cease? lol And thanks again for the help *g* Hopefully I'll do something with said fic today, maybe it'll even become a real ficlet *is hopeful*

Oh and this has nothing to do with the rest, but while I was still sorta comatose the other day, I watched my copies of Kyou Kara Maou and I'm soooooooo in love with that anime. It's great! I love pretty much all the characters but my preference goes to Conrad. I can't get enough of him, eek! And after watching the episodes, I was curious and tried the fandom, to see what pairings were the norm and I was a bit disappointed because... where's the Gwendal/Conrad angsty & intense hotness, guys? Where is it? I get the Wolfram/Yuuri, I mean a) it's really sweet b) it's canon, man, seriously - but I'm all for Gwendal/Conrad myself and apparently... it just doesn't exist *pout* Bad fandom, bad! So if someone hears something? I'm here. You know, waiting. Hoping.

Also, does someone - am still talking to the anime crowd on my flist here - know about Legend of the Galactic Heroes? I bought the VHS eons ago and hopelessly fell in love with that anime - yes, it happens a lot. I was first ecstatic to learn that it was actually an epic based on tons of novels and which series had no less than 110 episodes and totally crushed when I realised apparently said series wouldn't be released. Not here anyway. And now I want to buy the DVD and I can't find it! And it's starting to obsess me and it's driving me crazy *is obsessed* So? I'm sharing it with you. Aren't you glad I discovered LJ almost two years ago, uh?

Don't you worry, after some time on my flist, you'll have some notions about TS, the most important thing being, of course, Jim Ellison + Blair Sandburg = OTP. Dunno if you remember that series? The Sentinel airs on M6 on a regular basis *g*

I like the dynamic between Blair and Jim though and I thought the idea of a sentinel was really great. However, I felt the mystery side of the series was underexploited. I guess I wanted it to be less about police investigations and more about sentinels.

And you summed up quite well what most people into TS think, as a matter of fact *g* The dynamic between Jim and Blair is just grand and usually one of the main attractions to the show *g* And the whole Sentinel/Guide thing, the mystic side of their relationship definitely suffered from lack of exploitation... which is when the fandom comes in handy, because the fics are usually all about the Jim/Blair dynamic, or the Jim-Blair side of it for the ficcers of the gen persuasion *g* Then it deals a lot with spiritualism and mysticism, and then there are the interaction with the other characters which was a nice plus for the show... and then, well, there's everything else, ie every genre and theme a reader can dream of *g*

That's the good thing about fanfics; you can adapt the story to whichever aspect of the show you thought was missing! I've read a few TS fics(mostly PWP *g*) and I liked them because of the dynamic between Jim and Blair.
Could you rec me some TS fics? I'd like to try this fandom a bit more (and I hope I won't catch another OTP... *chuckles*).

Each time people ask me what my favourite fandom is or what is my #1 OTP, I always say I can't decide between J/B and J/D but sometimes I think J/B would be a tad higher on the pyramid... but then, I think of Jack and Daniel and damn, I melt immediately and come to the realisation that I can't really chose one over the other after all, even if it's just a teenie weenie difference, so I put them back at the same level, but there's just something about J/B that is just... TOO MUCH *dies of love*

So those two pairings? Will be the death of me, but damn, what a way to go *g*

Which, as Mouse pointed out, is a good reason to explore the fanfic. MOST of the fic is relationship-oriented or sense-oriented; police stuff comes a distant fifth, I think. I don't think I'd be a fan if it weren't for the fic...

TS fandom is soooo not dead - which I didn't know until recently. And what a nice surprise it is! Some of the new writers there are amazing. Amazing!

People always say that its the 'mean fandom' but seriously, I have met the nicest people through TS LJ communities. It's got such a different feel to it than say the Stargate fandom (which is the only other fandom I've been involved with on LJ).

To be honest, if I'd never put a foot on LJ, I would have believed TS was dead or at least comatose, maybe. But if anyone takes the time to investigate just for ten seconds around here, they'll see that TS is alive and kicking, oh yeah *g* And I'm glad you joined the LJ TS gang, btw *g*

I know of TS reputation of being mean, and I think it's because of the attitude of some people on some infamous MLs, which are... well, I won't start a rant here, but let's just say I'm glad I'm on LJ *g* I don't pay attention to what happens on those MLs, or if I do --to keep in touch with some of the gossips etc lol-- it's from afar, and everyone is happy that way *g* LJ is really a great environment for TS so far, and I'm having a blast *g*

And re: SG. I'm into SG, but the fandom drives me crazy and I usually keep far away from it too because the never-ending wanks every few days of the week? Gets old real quick. There're way too many hatred in that fandom - stupid and ridiculous hatred *shrug* I love it, but hey, we have to be honest, right? *g*

Okay so yeah *takes a deep breath* I can't tell you much unfortunately cause the VHS I had contained like one episode only, and seemed to be from a middle season or something like that. But! I still can tell you a bit, alright. So it's actually an epic which tells the story of a huge war between the Alliance and the Empire. But it's different from most of anime we know because we're not told to really pick one clan over the other. We follow both sides, from the highest level to the lowest... there's also a lot of respect between some of the officers even though they're on opposite side and it's like a battle of will, or intelligence more than a simple war between holy saint good guys and mega mean villain guys, you know? Also, the soundtrack is actually taken from classical pieces, which gives a very special feel to the episodes and a very classy feel as well.
