I wanted snow in Ile-de-France (Paris and its suburb), didn't I? I got my wish! It started snowing at noon and it hasn't stopped. I was pretty excited, though also a bit worried because you know how it is in cities where snow has been absent for years... it just has to snow, say, 5cm and everything is paralysed. I crossed my fingers real hard all afternoon so that the way back home wouldn't prove too difficult... and it went better than I feared. Twas a bit epic and I did wonder whether I would have to pull a Bear Grylls at one point and wear my socks over my shoes to stop me from slipping, but I was spared the indignity of that method so YAY :-p I'm just glad I'm not driving, though. It looked a bit too apocalyptic for my taste.

Also, because we're still not that used to getting a lot of snow in December around here, our concentration was pretty much shot to hell this afternoon *cough* Who needs shiny objects to distract them? Fluffy, white objects falling from the sky is more than enough!

I wish I'd been able to play hookie today, I'd have gone to Saint Michel and taken photos of the neighbourhood: Notre-Dame, the Panthéon, the Luxembourg garden... it must have looked gorgeous, all white and wintery *loves winter*

And it doesn't have anything to do with the above, though one could say the news were a bit like Christmas before Christmas; the FP will be seeing My Chemical Romance again in March 2011 ! They're coming back to Paris! This is nothing short of a miracle... we'll have seen them twice in one year! Well, if there's no problems and we can get the tickets on Friday, that is *is ready*

One of my bandom dreams came true tonight, I (finally) saw MyChem live! It was fucking brilliant! It felt kinda surreal at first - I mean, that was Gerard and Mikey and Frank and Ray right! There! In front of me! Singing and playing music live! Talk about a fantastic experience!

It was even better than what I'd hoped (except for The Sharpest Lives which isn't part of their setlist, sadly, as that song is maybe my Most Favourite of their songs); they started with Na Na Na (cue the crowd going wild) and finished with Kids from Yesterday (cue crowd going wild... which was kinda our default mode? Yes) They sang Cancer and Sleep and I'm Not Okay and Teenagers and The Ghost of You and Welcome to the Black Parade, which kinda gave me chills (it's such a powerful song on a good day but live, it's something else all right), just to name a few and! We had Desolation Row too! How awesome was that?

Gerard was fucking brilliant! I mean, he was just Gerard - Gerard with his talks to the crowd and his going down on his knees and his rolling on the ground and his licking his hand and licking the mike. The man struts a lot on stage, and he was also doing his Gerard poses a lot, the one N. christened "his slutty poses". Then we had a lot of looks between the guys (Frank/Gerard, Mikey/Gerard, Ray/Gerard) and the little touches (he ruffled Mikey's hair and touched his chest at one point, just to give an example) and the face-to-face when he sang with Frank (one mike for two guys) or when he was singing right in front of Mikey and Mikey was basically playing for him, you know? We also had a back-to-back (Gerard/Mikey), for good measure. Ray was a god - I'm always in awe when I see vids of him playing but having him play on stage for you doesn't compare. Same thing with Frank - I know he might have been a bit "calmer" than in some of the vids but that's still Frank we're talking about; Jem had the hardest time taking good pics of him because the guy just never stops moving! lol Mikey, on the other hand, is easier to photograph because he's always the more static of the lot but it doesn't mean he wasn't rocking (in every sense of the word) and we even had a Mikey solo at the end!! The guys left the stage one by one and they left us Mikey who did a little show of his own - I was so smitten omg!

And some (other) random details: there was the "Good Luck" helmet on stage, which Gee put on for one of the songs (not Na Na Na). Right behind Frank, there were pictures of his daughters. Gerard asked a girl to come sing Our Lady of Sorrows on stage with them. Oh and for those who're curious, his t-shirt was still hanging by a thread (literally, it seems lol). As for Frank, he changed his shirt mid-concert - so at least one of them likes clean clothes :-p

Jem took some fantastic pictures and she also managed to film several times (her camera is our new best friend because the quality is so good!) so as soon as she'll post her recap, I'll link to her entry - for those who don't have her friended, I mean. She hasn't started editing them yet but I just asked her if she's planning on sleeping tonight and she said she hasn't made up her mind yet so maybe soon lol I might also just link to both Jem's and GD's entries because they might write a detailed recap of the whole thing...

Also, Jem and GD dressed up for the gig so we had our very own Killjoys with us; twas really cute ;-)

Et finalement, une pensée pour Madeline qui aurait du être avec nous ce soir.

[ETA: [livejournal.com profile] crazybutsound posted her epic recap with some amazing pics and vids of the show.]

Work was exciting today. Why was work exciting today? For several reasons, one of which had nothing to do with work as such, but since I was there when it happened... I bought my ticket to see My Chemical Romance in Paris in November \o/ I'll be going with the usual suspects (meaning the FP, [livejournal.com profile] crazybutsound included, who'll be making the trip for the gig... well, to be precise, she'd planned on making the trip for Black Cards but since MyChem's gig is the next day, she'll happen to be already be in Paris!) plus a couple of others. We're one step closer to seeing the guys omg!

Then in the evening I met with aforementioned FP (sans [livejournal.com profile] crazybutsound) at GD's and we had a nice MCR-related squeeing fest. As you do.

We also watched the new Community and omg, I love that show so much! It's always so hilarious and so geeky and I love all the meta in it... I really missed the show when it was gone (even though I came to the party really late and didn't have to wait that long, considering) and am thrilled it's back ♥ And tomorrow it's Supernatural's turn, YAY!

Staying home today. Miss G is on her way to work and though I do feel for her for being on her lonesome, there is something absolutely wonderful about seeing people leave for work when you're still in your PJs, cuddled up in a blanket on the couch /cruel girlfriend

But this isn't what I wanted to talk about. What I wanted to talk about is how this weekend has been so fantastic bandom-wise and how the universe decided to be even NICER and how, apparently? I'm going to see MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE in November! They announced more of their European tour dates yesterday and they'll be in Paris on the 1st of November and how did this happen? The following months are shaping up to be so good concert-wise, I still can't believe it: The Like, Adam Lambert, My Chemical Romance. Omg, I'm in such a happy place right now ♥ MCR is one of the two bands I was dying to see and (*knocking wood*) it'll happen in a couple of months!

Still on the subject of music, there's this French artist I'm really enjoying atm, if you're interested in some 'old school' Soul/Rock sound, you might want to check out Ben L'Oncle Soul. I might add his own gig in April to my list, now that I think of it.

Unrelated now. Watched The Vampire Diaries 2x02 yesterday with Miss G and this new season started pretty nicely. I know I keep saying this is one of my guilty pleasure shows - and it is - but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy the hell out of it :-)
