Someone out there hates me! A listsib at one of my SG ML initiated a challenge which has 'Daniel as a Dom and Jack as a sub' guideline!

Man!

As if SG slashers weren't already obsessed enough with alpha!Daniel as it is! Now, they're even initiating challenge to have more of it! *pout*

Oh the horror, I'm going to be hit by tons of Dom!Daniel/sub!Jack stories for the whole week- at least! *sobs*

*dejected sigh* I'm sure there're going to be good stories, that is not my point. But this is so not a theme I want to read. It's not my scene, so to speak *eg* It just doesn't work for me. I doubt it ever will.

I can see Jim being a sub. I definitely prefer Blair, but I can read and believe it when it's Jim. I still see him as fucking alpha male, but from time to time, I enjoy some sub!Jim fics, like the next pervie. But I just can't see it with Jack. Nor with Skinner either. Or Chris *g*

And don't start with the whole "It's not because Blair is smaller and younger that he's automatically a bottom, you moron" line, cos that's not it. I don't think age or height makes you one or the other. Don't start either with the "You know they actually 'switch'- do you know what that means?" Cause I know that, too, thank you very much lol I'm not talking about what is happening in RL, but about what I like to read, there's a difference *g* And I like Daniel and Blair and Fox and Toby to bottom, or to sub for their lovers.

This is a talk I'm often having with turps33 and babycakesin. Hmm, actually, I also know alinewrites share this point of view, right, Aline? Now, I'm always curious to know about other's views - if you even have a preference, cos I know some slashers who don't, and who just go with the flow *g*

So yes, my bottom boys are always usually the younger or eventually the smaller of the two partners, but this is just one huge coincidence! lol Don't make anything out of it lol

Anyway, back to the subject at hands, I hope we'll have the reverse challenge next week, or something, causes that wouldn't be fair *tries not to look bratty, and fails miserably*

Heehee. I agree with that. I only can really see Jack as top. I do go with the flow and just basically read everything that comes along my way that seems interesting. But, really, I find fics with Jack topping is always more better and fun! *wicked grin* I think it's because of his personalty and character. I can't really see him as a sub.. I mean sure, he could be a sub at the beginning of a sex scene, but I would think that he would become the top by the end of the scene. Hey, it's just me. *shrug*

As far as SG1 is concerned, in a Daniel/Jack pairing (I don't want to hear of anyone else), I see Jack as top, Daniel bottom. As far as TS is concerned, Blair is bottom, Jim is top. (although I was brainwashed before I could form my own opinion. Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to reveal the name of that deviant brainwasher. Not here anyway.)

I think it's just that since you picture yourself (ie are) a beta, you relate more to that position, ie your favorite character (ie the geekier *g*) is your beta. Some other people on the other hand can't even stick to a f***ing pairing, so don't ask them to say if Sirius is top or bottom! (I just used Sirius as a for instance, don't make anything out of it *tries to look innocent*)

Daniel topping Jack? Do those people actually *watch* the show? Do they notice every single way Jack psychologically "tops" Daniel, protects him, cuts him short, considers him as some kid? I just can't read Jack tops Daniel stuff. I can't. Which doesn't mean I can't imagine they shift positions of course.

And Chris/Toby... Same thing, but there I think Toby might be willing to top, and that Chris might aree to bottom. Or maybe it depends the mood but in Chris' case, he can't afford being anyone's bottom, he's in prison for life, remember, so... He has a reputation to keep.

But maybe topping someone from a psychological POV and topping from a... er... fucking-POV is quite different. Remember SKinner's sentence in Lyrica's "routine interrogation"?

i disagree with you concerning j/d. of course jack APPEARS to be the obvious top, but bedroom personalities differ from outside the bedroom personalities. if you see what i mean.
i personally prefer jack to bottom and i don't see it as OOC. but it seems that it's just me.

I don't think that's just you, I read a lot of fics where Jack was bottoming! And to tell you the truth it looks like we're absolutely free to picture our pairings the way we want to! If you feel like having Jack bottoming, it's OK to me.
It's just that it doesn't fulfill my own fantasies.

In my case -I'm in Oz fandom, where we don't have to imagine anything because we actually see it- it's obvious that Chris is topping outside the cell (LOL). Inside? I don't have no definite answer.

You know what I feel, pretty much the same for you. I adore bottom boys, especially those smaller. Is that stereotypical? Yeah it is. The point is I *know* that, it's just my personal preference. So Jim topping Blair, Jack, Daniel, and so on.

But then I fell for Brennan. Total alpha male, blew my ideas out of the water as I still want him to bottom, but he's so damn tall and powerful, no one could say he was smaller than Jesse. I still write him as bottom though, which suggested to me it's not so much the physical aspect that turns me on in the pairing but the attitudes. I love to think of him being topped, which is not him being weaker than Jess, or the woman, just him enjoying being penetrated. And yes, you've heard this before, not long ago.

Moving on to my latest fandom. Two groups, two men I'm crushing on, one is one of the biggest in their group, one the smallest. I want them both to be bottoms though, it's what I prefer. But I've found in popslash there's not as many pre-conceived roles as such. They switch much more than couples in media fandoms, probably because it's assumed that being gay isn't that big a deal for someone in a boyband.

But the thought of Chris and Kevin being sub works so well for me. In slightly different ways. Big powerful Kevin brought to a quivering mess makes me shiver, then smallish Chris does the same. I love pictures of him when he's with the others as he *is* smaller. What's unusual is both guys are older than all the others, as is Brennan actually, so maybe the age thing is getting redundant.

Now I'm rambling and feeling the need to read a hot slash fic. So I'll end with saying, Jack as sub? Not in my universe!
